  1. Hello all. Visiting from the Monk's guild for a challenge to help me figure out a few things.
  2. Huh, I didn't know that about water temps either. Learn something new everyday.
  3. Like Arilian Princess said your main quest is a long term thing that helps you toward your life quest for lack of a better term. So for you the Life Quest is that you want to be a Wizard and as you mentioned learning how to be a Mentalist would help you toward that. There you are, you Main Quest for right now is to become a Mentalist. Keep in mind that your main quest is something that can take more then a few challenges to achieve, so think about baby steps. As for your other two questions, why not use this challenge to answer them? Try different types of meditation and yoga as part of your challenge, at the end look back and decide which one helped the most.
  4. Sounds like a plan to me. What type of meditation are you planning? So far I've been having a lot of luck with moving meditation while I do my morning run.
  5. oh don't worry I'm a Monk at heart. Seeing as my goals are going to be finding my path (aka art) and meditating I figured it matched the druids more.
  6. It might be you had a different diet, I know when I changed mine I suddenly was hungry all the time. Granted that's because I was eating a high sugar and carb diet at the time. As for biofeedback why not establish a sort baseline amount of food you need based on nutrition (certain amount of protein, a couple serving of vegetables, etc) but then add things based on how hungry you are. I kinda do that, I have two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) that are pretty set and then just go with what my body is craving.
  7. Good luck on the challenge everyone, I'm with the Druids this time but I shall be rooting for all of you!
  8. Great news to hear about the writing gig. Love that koan, I admittedly first heard it on King of the Hill but I got the actual meaning and in a way that is how I try and live my life. I'll be joining you with a meditation goal so we'll have to compare notes at some point.
  9. I like the plan! This is going to be awesome. I've used all of those techniques in the past and everyone of them will help you. For week five I'd suggest making sure you have access to snacks and such, it helps you figure out when you're super hungry and when it's just a little hunger. If that makes sense.
  10. I like it. Also vegetables are awesome.
  11. Holy crap that is a lot of things! But as Spauracchio said you have a nice schedule! Also seriously, I remember when being legendary meant something.
  12. Nice costume! Seriously good job, finding your path and getting yourself a nice workout routine is an awesome accomplishment! Plus anytime someone starts cooking a fairy gets it's wings (okay not sure if that's true or makes sense but seriously looe to see people cooking more). Also hope you don't mind but I'm stealing your first goal for my next challenge.
  13. Awesome job with the fitness Ronin, and even with all the upheaval you kept at things where others would have given up. If you don't have grit then I don't know who does. Seriously man you're in inspiration.
  14. Nice work, really interested to hear how the 5k goes. As for the measurements don't take them too seriously. I've been having measurements at my gym and none of them have been going done. My BMI however has, to the point where the gym people are impressed. So yeah measurements not always accurate.
  15. It depends on the gym really. I've lucked out to a pretty nice one where people leave you alone when working out but will actually chat with you when you're not doing anything. Add to it that the staff is really nice and it's 24-hour, makes it one of the better gyms in my area. I was out running one day and my roommate ended up pulling beside me blasting "Eye of the Tiger", it was pretty awesome.
  16. @FalseAesop Just finished "Living Dead Girl" and here are my thoughts. And my thoughts on Mission 24.
  17. Nice challenge goals! I may steal your hobo Christmas idea for friends, though probably stick with horrible gifts instead of making things. As my friends know, I can make a chicken delicious but not much else for crafting.
  18. Looking forward to weeing your next challenge and good luck.
  19. You did great man and congratulations on the second daughter.
  20. Sorry guys bad joke, I wasn't stabbed. I was making reference to how sick Eddard Stark got after his fight with Jaimie Lannister (one of Jamie's guards stabbed him in the leg). That said I was in a fight this past week. Guy got drunk at a party and started taking swings at people, namely me. I ended up having to put him in a choke hold when he started focusing on someone else. None of us were hurt fortunately. As for a specific art I'm not sure. I may use Leonine's idea and go to a bunch of different dojos to check them out.
  21. Alright s this review shall be quick as I am using the random half an hour to rebuild the post from last time. Tyrion Lannister: B (+2 Wisdom and +1 Charisma) So while the reading in general went along quite well the fact was that the three longer learning sessions took a bit more effort. Time seems to be a problem with me as my average day has me getting up, morning routine (run, shower, shave, breakfast, all taking two hours-ish), work 10-11 hour shift, work out again, come home, and sleep. Kind of hard to find the time to do the extra stuff when your 16 hour day is already pretty full. Still I o like the learning and I have an idea for the next challenge. Jon Snow: Fail but unofficial Win Basically my average ended up being somewhere around nine hours, not at all what I wanted. It comes down to the fact that I think my body needs that little bit of extra sleep, which makes sense as eight hours is an average. But I did learn that I do in fact have a set sleep schedule, it’s just a couple of hours behind everyone else. So my focus shouldn’t be on sleeping less but on arranging my schedule around my existing sleep habits. Jaimy Lannister: B (+2 Dexterity) So while I did get to the dojo a lot I did make one very important discovery, Aikido isn’t my path. While I was getting to practices they were a chore. I wasn’t enjoying them and kept checking the clock something I know a precursor to me starting to lose interest. There is a theory out there about whether people chose to be Sheep, Wolves, or Sheepdog’s that I like, and part of it is that one of the key differences between a Wolf in a Sheepdog is choice. One attacks to harm others and one attacks to defends others. I find myself in the Sheepdog role a lot recently, so I need a style that allows me to defend others a little more effectively. But more importantly I need an outlet for some aggression. Eddard Stark: A (+3 Wisdom) So not counting the week that I was dying (some guy stabbed me in the leg) I did awesome with this. Even after the weeks ended I still was trying to remember what I learned and put it into action. So full pass here and continuing it on the next challenge. Alright so sorry for the short review, last one I had was much longer but then things happened. My next challenge will be up soon and I am thinking a certain Rebel needs to be emulated. Level 4 Orc Citizen Soldier STR 7.5|DEX 7.5|STA 11|CON 12|WIS 15.5|CHA 7.5 Current Challenge Old Challenges 15/4 3/6 7/25 "Do it now." Turned into!!!!!!!!!!! Level 5 Orc Citizen Soldier STR 7.5|DEX 9.5|STA 11|CON 12|WIS 20.5|CHA 8.5 Old Challenges 15/4 3/6 7/25 "Do it now."
  22. Spend an hour writing a nice review about your own personal growth both personal and spiritual. Accidently close the tab. A write up shall be posted tomorrow hopefully.
  23. I like your idea, it would be nice to chat about things as they happen.
  24. So lack of posting catches me again, a quick recap of last week. Working out has been going great! I’ve been making a few strides in CC, nothing earth shattering but over all I’ve been making steady progress with everything even horizontal pulls. In the running department I decided to more thing indoors to a treadmill on Wednesday, and since then been running three miles a day. Yeah not sure how that happened but I have been feeling super energized as a result. Piano lessons started off with me learning a little about how to read music and directions to a good music theory site that should help us move along faster. Pretty excited though slightly dampened by the fact that the local university won’t let me practice there. Zombie run didn’t end up happening for me. Let’s just say that the night before was very interesting and fun and before I knew it eight am has appeared. Still my registration money helped charity and see the first paragraph for my crazy running. Industry went amazingly well, was productive all week. Aikido, not so much I’m afraid. I’m having a seriously hard time waking up in the morning that I’m going to work on next challenge that sabotaged me this one. A review should be up in a couple of days. Till then congrats everyone, we got through another one! Tyrion Lannister: First Week: 5/5 and 3/3, Second: 7/7 and 2/3, Third 6/7 and 3/3, Fourth 0/7 and 0/3, Fifth 7/7 and 2/3, Sixth 7/7 and 3/3 Jon Snow: First Week's Average: 7, Second: 8, Third: 9, Fourth: 12, Fifth: 10, Sixth: 9 Jaime Lannister: First Week: 2/3, Second: 3/3, Third: 3/3, Fourth: 0/3, Fifth: 3/3, Sixth, 0/3 Eddard Stark: Temperance: 12 points, Silence: 14 points, Order: 14 points, Resolution: 0 points, Frugality: 14 points, Industry: 14 points
  25. Glad to see you back! Totally happy for you on finding a place to train and on all the new food (the two most important things in life I think). I can understand with the hectic mess of life keeping you from posting, I've been having the same problem.
