  1. I couldn't take offense about names b/c at least you're trying! People I've worked with for 10 years and see 5x a week still call me Michelle or Marissa. It's not as bad as Mike's mom who still calls him by his (jerk) uncle's name. :-) And yes, I'm in therapy. After my dad died, 7/19/2010, I was really depressed--it was right after our house flooded (which I'm almost positive Mike has mentioned) and I could barely get out of bed for almost 2 weeks. I went from devastated that he was gone to almost happy because he couldn't do any more damage to upset b/c I wasn't more upset that he was
  2. Thank you all so much for reading what I've had to say. I needed to be honest with all of you to heal my heart. I've learned that I really need to be an open book to people to heal myself. I'm willing to talk openly and honestly about anything, so if anyone has questions about me or anything really, please don't hesitate to ask me. I've been open and honest about some of the most traumatic events of my life--my parents divorce, my father's hatred of me, and the time my family was homeless when I was 16/17--and these events have now just become part of me instead of a source of intense hurt.
  3. Hey everyone! This is Melissa, Teros/Mike's girlfriend. He got home around noon today and has been sleeping ever since. He's snoring so loud that I can hear him with the bedroom door shut, the tv on, and the pugs snoring. He'll probably be out for a few more hours and I'll let him know you all want to hear from him once he gets up. Thank you for all the support that you all have given him during this time. It means so much to me that he has a community that loves and supports him. Thanks again and I'm sure he'll update later today.
  4. So at the end of this challange, I might not have posted much here, but I kept true to most of my goals. I completed my Whole30 on October 8th. I worked really hard to keep true to my Whole30 and I did. I lost 17lbs over the course of the 30 days. I haven't worked out as much as I think I should but I still try to go to the gym each week. As for my third goal, I've been playing D2 with my b/f more, which was part of my generic goal. Also, I feel really proud of myself b/c I've still stayed away from caffiene and 99% of soda. I had a little Sprite one night after a late movie (we did eat
  5. Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting on here. I'm not big on forums and don't usually think to post updates too often. I finished my Whole30 yesterday and weighed myself this morning. I lost about 17lbs in 30 days. This morning I had a few of the cheat foods that I thought I had wanted during my Whole30, but they're all pretty gross. Here's a breakdown of what I had--eggs/homefries/baked egg tart things from Whole Foods, a few cookies from WF cookie bar, part of a ham and cheese calzone, a bite of yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and a mini tuna sandwich from WF. Most of the s

  7. Hey everyone! Time for the new challenge and I hope everyone does well this time around! I know I'll be working hard on my Whole30! I'm on day 9 and busting my butt!!! Good luck all!!
  8. So this is my fourth challenge and I guess you could say I'm closer to my fitness/weight loss goals. It's a struggle every day, but I'm still trying as best as I can. My goals are a little more focused but less in quantity. I can't really do four goals this time--because I'm doing a Whole30! Goal 1--Stay true to the course of my Whole30! It's a challenge everyday and a struggle to stay on course but I'm trying my hardest on this. I'm currently on day 9 of this Whole30...with the end date being 10/8! The timeline on their website, http://whole9life.com/2013/08/revised-timeline/, is accu
  9. @ Ensi--Yes that's a pug in my picture. I have 2 pugs--the tan one in the picture is named Chuck and I have an all black one named Frank. They're the best dogs in the world! They're silly, goofy, dumb (in a good way), and all around amazing dogs. They mostly sleep, snore, fart, and sneeze but they're lovable and adorable! If you're looking for a very active dog, a pug would be a bad choice--but if you want a couch snuggle buddy, you can't go wrong with a pug!
  10. Update time--My birthday week has thrown me off my game a bit but it has helped in me deciding which foods are going to consistently be part of my diet or part of my cheat meals and which will not. I 110% cannot eat real ice cream. Also, bagels with cream cheese is on the chopping block. I confirmed my love for cottage cheese with cherries and pineapple and pink lady apples. Also, taking time off of zumba to have my tattoo heal was more difficult than I thought. I went back Wednesday night and it felt great to be there. I actually remembered a ton of the steps and it felt so great to jus
  11. Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted here before but this is my 3rd challenge to date and I'm here to try again. I think that I've made great strides in fixing my problems with eating/exercise/motivation since finding this site many months ago. A year ago I wouldn't even have considered this a viable option for weight loss, etc, but since trying the ideals on here, trying the 6 week challenges, and switching to a mostly paleo diet, I've come a long way. I have found workouts that I don't hate and ...(gulp!)...actually enjoy, I am developing a better relationship with food, and I'm trying to
  12. I got my 3rd tattoo--two intertwined carnations--one blue and one pink. I also have Minnie Mouse and a music note. My mother and I have gotten one each year for the past 3 years when she has come here for vacation during the summer. Good luck on your goals too!!
  13. Well this is my third challenge...and I'm still working on fundamentals. I feel like I've made some progress from the first two challenges so I'd like to continue working on these fundamentals to strengthen my foundation of change. Goal #1--Exercise--With the exception of the past 2 weeks (b/c I got a new tattoo on my thigh) I've been going to the gym at least twice a week. I'd like to continue going twice a week at a minimum. Goal #2--Diet--From the last challenge, cheat meals have been narrowed down and become more selective. If I'm going to have a cheat breakfast, I don't go strai
  14. Well this has gone better than I expected and better than the last challenge. With the exception of this past week, where my mom and brother were here on vacation (eating all sorts of crazy bad foods) I have been eating really well and working out 2-3 times a week. I've limited my soda intake and have been reading more. I've only read one book this time, but that's better than not reading. I feel stronger and a bit leaner because I've been giving all my workouts my best. I do think I need a vacation from this vacation to get back on track but all and all I think this challenge has been a succe
