  1. I love that you have a community where you feel safe enough to seriously cry.
  2. It's really cool that they're doing that and it sounds really pleasant! Solid parenting! My 6yo wants to do horseback riding, speaking of expensive......
  3. Week 1, Day 6 Very early swimming lesson for the 6yo, we got to watch and she did great! After I dropped her at my moms I went to work for 5 hours. Then I made a late lunch for Jaap and myself from our harvest and then we went to the garden together. I had ordered another 10 asparagus roots so we made room for those in the strawberry patch. One of my garden neighbours gave me a bunch of pepper and tomato plants which I didn't have room for so I took those to my friends garden and planted them out. I spend a lot of time on my bike and it was so green and sunny and I didn't need Tank's imagination exercise because I felt very very happy for most of the day! Sorting photos: βœ… Making memories: 🟑 3yo βœ… 6yo Wannabe athlete: βœ… rest day because of the competition the next day Shifting gears: βœ… 31.1km Photo from last year, she was 2 years old here and just looked so adorable in this outfit.
  4. Week 1, Day 5 After the morning shift at work I got in a good workout and then went home for lunch. It was beautiful weather and my kids asked if we could go for a bike ride and I said yes. We stopped at a playground and it was all very pleasant Then I went back to work for 2 more hours and on my way home for dinner I stopped at the garden for a quick harvest- it was lovely and felt very abundant. Jaap had made lasagna and it just came out of the oven when I came home. After dinner we all went out for another bike ride ❀️ Sorting photos: βœ… Making memories: βœ… 3yo βœ… 6yo Wannabe athlete: βœ… good session Shifting gears: βœ… 16.3km I am grateful that we live in such a green and bike-friendly neighbourhood! Photo is from this year
  5. Thank you! Pesto is a great idea and I made a sage butter for Christmas, it was great- thanks for the reminder! Coriander is a no go for me, tastes like soap x) It really was! and i'll keep that in mind! You're absolutely right! Thanks, I definitely needed to hear that!
  6. Kids are the harshest critics, so that's great feedback Way to go on the protein goal!
  7. Sometimes it's best to curl up with the sad and allow yourself to feel your feelings! Hopefully being with your mom will make you feel less alone ❀️
  8. You're doing well! I hope getting that movement in is also helping with the stress. Excellent
  9. I'm sorry you didn't get taken seriously by the cardiologist and that you're having to advertise so hard for yourself all these years. I am glad you seem to have your GP in your corner, that's something. I hope this will be great for you two ❀️
  10. Ahh I'm sorry you didn't get this job Tank! I hope it was still encouraging, it does sound like you are excellent at this interviewing process and the fact that these people (that sound like good people) think you're a catch is also affirming. Fingers crossed another good opportunity comes by soon and then you'll do your part
  11. Had my first harvest big enough to fill a basket today (asparagus, rocket, other salads, different kinds of paksoi leaves, purple chinese cabbage leaves)
  12. Week 1, Day 4 Thursday is my other day off. In the morning my 6yo asked to read a book together, I said yes and we spend almost an hour going from book to book. The rest of the day was a stressful mess because I was trying to get places (picking up a playdate from school and delivering some stuff to my mom ) in record amounts of rain and trying to sort a taxes thing with kids around, which does not work. Sorting photos: βœ… though I am wondering if maybe I should do more than just delete some Making memories: ❌ 3yo- nothing memorable βœ… 6yo Wannabe athlete: ❌ nope, I should have Shifting gears: 🟑 no cycling so no shifting gears.. I was fully suited up in my rain gear and then I couldn't get the bike to function (turns out I had the battery disconnected) but I wasn't going to ride with 3 kids unsupported with that much rain. I’m grateful that despite homeschooling my 6yo has so many friends it sometimes seems like a part time job to arrange play dates
  13. Thank you! I really can't blame the minions for this one, it was my own chaos mostly x) Peace would be really good. I am actively working on not accepting any more to do's, so there is that at least. Ah yes I know a few hobby photographers who are exactly like that! for now it's ranging from 50-300 photos, it's doable. it should be. Thanks that is why I wanted to at least give partial credit- but I'm really looking to improve my one on one time with them and how often I say yes to things, so I don't want to give full points- then it wouldn't be a challenge.
  14. Love that Oh I need this reminder regularly! Good job on the short walk and the bit of weeding
  15. Week 1, Day 3 During the morning rush everything that could go wrong did. There was a blown diaper, fallen glass, items missing, bread still in the freezer, fighting kids.. and when we finally got out the door it started pouring with rain. Then I had back to back appointments until 21:00. Yay. (mom+toddler gym class, accountant, therapy and then on to work). Sorting photos: ❌ it was a very looong day and I just really didn't want to x) Making memories: βœ… 3yo (gym class) 🟑 6yo, it wasn't much but we had a really good conversation during our bike ride Wannabe athlete: 🟑 D- today, so little time.. but I did a something. Shifting gears: βœ… 10,9km in the pouring rain The taxes, the therapy and a lot of items on my to do list gave me a lot of stress and anxiety. But I had a great time at work and I'm grateful for all the great people there who make it so.
  16. Week 1, Day 2 After my morning shift at work I got in a very quick training session so I could get home in time for all four of us to go to the swimming pool. It's not my hobby, but the kids had a really great time on the way home we dropped Jaap off at work and the kids and I were really tired so we watched quite a lot of tv before having dinner. Sorting photos: βœ… Making memories: βœ… Wannabe athlete: βœ… B- today, and I've decided that everything above a C is good enough for now. Shifting gears: βœ… only used the non-electric bike today, 7.2km
  17. Yea me too! x) Three years ago for Father's Day I made a little album of all outdoor photos of our eldest, they're just great. Green outdoorsy vibes Ah I can imagine! I planted some purple potatoes (not sweet) this year, I'm very curious what those will be like.
  18. We got the cardboard for free from local shops, got the wood chips for free and spend 150 euros on the compost. The pallets in the background are our compost bins, also got those for free. But you don't need to do wood chips for paths, but we had to put cardboard there to kill the pasture grass, that stuff will take over in seconds if you leave it alive in-between beds. And just cardboard didn't seem like a great idea.
  19. No actually, pallet edges already ARE beds, no need to do anything with them. They've got hinges on them. You just unfold them and put them where you want them. It's what we used in our garden (see photo). We got most of them for free. Those DYI ones are much prettier though and you could make them tall and more durable if you wanted to. But honestly after looking at your video and considering all the work you've already got cut out for you I'd probably just get my hands on 10 cubic yard of compost (not soil), add some to the existing beds and with the rest just make non-edged beds for this year on the for-sure dry parts. Maybe lie some branches around it if you feel like it. It doesn't matter if it's not flat, if stuff grows there it won't flow away with rain. This video is stupidly long and you can skip a lot of it, but it's an excellent guide on how to make garden beds the no-dig way. In short; put down cardboard, cover with thick layer of compost, put in plants, done. We did that at our friends garden this year, I think I posted some picture somewhere here, I'll find them in a sec. You'll probably need some fencing around them, but the same is true for raised beds. And then you can take more time to plan (and build) for next year. Moving the soil around next year is not ideal of course, but if that's what ends up being needed then you can. And considering the work load, put in a lot of potatoes, beets and squash and zucchini types because those are very low maintenance and take over well enough that you won't need to do any weeding. And use the first bed you showed that has a lot of shade for salads etc. And when you're making plans for the future don't forget the greenhouse Love your hugenkultur plans! I think that'll be really great
  20. Dutch! I’m from the Netherlands. You’re very brave! And clean things are so lovely, a gift from your past self
  21. This is why I always played with my best friend- she held the controller and I solved all the puzzles (and translated the English). And yes on those dreams, I get those too when I stay up late with something x)
  22. Huh, I would've expected a lot more zone 2 for a long ride like that. This must be brutal!
  23. Happy anniversary Love those purple flowers! I also love dead bugs, not to do them, but you know, 'cause they're effective.
  24. Love that you're paying attention to this
