  1. Thanks guys! I want to do what I can for baby, but I do get really bad at taking care of myself the first few months after. I'm going to plan ahead this time. I'm going to make lots of freezer meals to make sure I get enough to eat and I want to be in the best shape I can be before he/ she gets here so I have a bit more of a cushion when I can't do as much as I'd like to. It turns out I'm in worse shape than when I tried this last spring. I had to take an extra rest day because my toothpicks arms were hurting pretty bad after lifting my daughter up on a slide at the park for half an hour, but I'm ready to continue tonight. After seeing my in-laws in such poor health in their 50's, I really don't want that to happen to us. We need to be an example to our kids so they can make healthy choices. I was excited tonight, my four year old son asked me to show him how to do squats and burpees. I must be doing something right.
  2. I've been eating a little better and started my workout. Wow, I am so out of shape, but I'm excited to get active again. My legs hurt and it wasn't even leg day. There's nowhere to go but up I guess. Looking forward to improvement.
  3. Hello all, after dropping out of my first challenge about 6 months ago, I'm here to give it another shot. I've been married 7 years and I'm a stay at home mom to a 4 year old boy and a 19 month old girl. We've had some unexpected and tough things happen in the last 4 years and I haven't taken care of myself, resulting in being quite underweight and not living a healthy lifestyle at all. We've wanted to be better for along time, but just never did it. Now, I've come to my moment. I don't have a choice anymore. We found out in July that baby #3 is on the way, due date March 15. We are very excited, but I know things must change. I have had issues with preterm labor in the past, so I know I'm at higher risk this time around. I know some things are out of my control, but with what is, I need to give this baby the best chance I can give it. I guess I can say my main goal is to get healthy for Peanut so I can be in good shape for the rest of the pregnancy, delivery, and those first few months after. Ultimate goal- to have more flexibility, control, endurance, and strength than I have ever had in my life. 1. Do bodyweight workout 4x a week I'll be doing different groups each day, plan inspired by You Are Your Own Gym 2. Three solid meals a day. Snacking all day does not count. 3. ...I'm not really sure yet. I'll come back to it. Life goal: Retrain the brain- I haven't taken care of myself in any way. I've let my faith get weak and my attitude go to crap. No more negativity, complaining, excuses, or quitting. I don't have a very strong personality, so things like persistence and determination are unfamiliar to me. I have to find them and I will.
  4. Yeah! Now you just have to keep it there. Knowing what I know of you so far, I see you going even farther. Great job!
  5. I forgot to add, part of the reason I struggled so much last week was my weigh in. I do it once a week and for the first time since the challenge started I had no gain. It upset me much more than I thought it would, so I won't be weighing in anymore until the end of the challenge. I'm going to do what I can, which is usually much less than what I'd like, but it's better than nothing.
  6. Thank you Marnie! I have been doing better for the most part, except for Friday when I was letting myself get too stressed over my son's birthday party- happens every time. I haven't read PP. I've only heard the rough storyline, but I think I'd like to sometime. Update: Halfway there! I found out that about 3 weeks is my trial period for things. If they aren't going exceptionally well (aka perfect), I decide that it's just not going to work. Last week, I had several rough days in a row and by Friday I had unofficially given up. My very stubborn husband however had other ideas. We had several long discussions and we have a new plan of action. I missed my workouts on Wednesday and Friday, but I did one on Saturday at 10:30 at night. Saturday was the first time this whole challenge that I scored well in all for areas. Today is workout day and it's beautiful outside here in Ohio. My focus verses of the week are from Philippians 4: Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Hmmm...sounds a lot like a knight! Have a great week everyone!
  7. I was hoping we would see you again. Glad to hear things are going well. I just started bodyweight training too and I'm really liking it. I wish you the best in quitting. I don't know from personal experience, but I've watched people I'm close to go through it and I've also seen consequences of those who didn't soon enough. Looking forward to more progress updates.
  8. I think you're still doing pretty well overall. Super great job on the COD. It's so easy to lose track of time when you're in another world. I've been going to bed late too. Then I get up late and it throws off my whole day and pretty much makes all of my goals more difficult. Keep up the good work soldier!
  9. I've read a lot of good about intervals/ sprints. My husband had just started doing them, but then got an injury so I can't really share personal experience. He plans on starting up again as soon as he's able. I agree that it looks like a good place to start with your current goals. Good luck!
  10. Great job on the plank and sounds like you're making progress with the push ups too. Keep it up!
  11. Those looks good! I've been meaning to try them, I just haven't yet. Hope your week goes well and your energy stays high!
  12. Well, I'm 1/3 of the way through the first level of my training. The food hasn't been as easy as I thought it would be. I'm not hitting my goal nearly as much as I was hoping to. My headaches have been part of that issue. I had another bad one last night, but the seem to be less frequent so I'm hoping they'll go away entirely soon. If they get too bad I take medicine for them and it makes me very tired. I got up at 11:30 today. Honestly, it's been very frustrating. On a good note, I've only missed three days of reading and half of one workout. I have to say I do enjoy my workouts. They don't take very long. They don't leave me all out of breath and sweaty, although I suppose I wouldn't mind something like that later on. I'm really liking the changes I'm seeing and feeling. I had no idea it would make that much of a difference in such a short time. I'm excited to see what it will be like after another month.
  13. You are facing tests of the mind as well as the body, I see. Well done to you and Nicks for staying strong. Yesterday, I didn't eat as I should have. The amounts were fine, but how I got there wasn't the wisest. My training is quite different from yours so I can't say much about your numbers, but it looks like you're working hard. Much can happen in thirty days.
  14. I never remember what a blessing it is to feel well until I'm not. The last few days have shown great improvement. Now that my body finally has accepted it's new home and way of life, I can continue my training as planned. I have still only missed half of one training session because the young one woke up a bit early from her rest on Wednesday. I am continuing to notice my increase in strength. I have been weighing myself weekly and will post my gain at the end of the challenge. The eating has been ok, but could use some improvement. I have only missed two days of study. It has been nice to take some time each day to refocus. The waking up needs to get better. I've been staying up too late and then I don't want to get up the next day. It looks like it's going to be nice outside today and there are several things going on around the village. We're going to take a day and get out of the house. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
  15. Your attitude is amazing! That can make all the difference in the world with your goals. Glad to hear you're still doing pretty well with them despite..um..."complications".
  16. Good for you for taking steps to a healthier life. It can be hard when you make a lifestyle change and your friends don't understand. How are your workouts going? I've noticed a difference just from doing mine a few weeks.
  17. I had left my journal at my mother's for several days, so I can update details to the best of my memory. Due to my sickness, I had still not been able to eat very much. I am slowly getting better and I attended a family banquet last evening so I'm sure that helped. I have not been strict about waking early so I can focus on recovery, but a few days I've still gotten a few points for coming close. I've found that I feel best in the mornings so I've been doing my training sessions then and have not missed one yet. I am also doing well with my studies especially since I have spent more time resting. I am still in some pain in the evenings, but I believe I am finally getting better. I know this challenge is what I'm meant to do. Otherwise there would not be so many obstacles trying to hold me back. Off to do my training session...
  18. Looks like you're doing a great job. Keep it up and remember...the cake is a lie!
  19. Sounds like you're off to a good start. Congrats on the new little one! We have two younger kids and I've struggled to get on a better schedule too. I think you're well on your way to getting your current health concerns under control. I can see you going gazelle intense on all of your goals! Good luck!
  20. Great job on your cleaning and packing. Hope the weather gets better for you.
  21. Wow, I think grad school looks tough no matter what other things your involved in. Good for both of you for taking that on. Great job with the protein. Making a big change in the types of food you eat can be difficult at first, looks like you're doing great so far. Glad you had fun with the dancing. Too bad it's so late though.
  22. Costuming, neat! I've been admiring the work on Once Upon a Time if you watch that. Great planning ahead with your meals. Definitely doable. Good luck with your business too. I think doing it yourself is the way to go!
  23. Preparing for universe implosion. Good luck to you!
  24. Keep looking forward. Be a better you than you were yesterday. Really pushing at the end of spring semester is tough, but you can do it. Crush that GPA and squeeze those workouts in there. Do you have your shopping list and recipes ready for those yummy meals you'll be eating? One bad day doesn't have to be a bad week or month. Finish strong!
  25. Hi, looks like you're doing pretty good so far. As for your character, that part is optional for the challenge, but fun so here's what Steve says about it... Your Race is Already DeterminedBefore you pick your profession, let’s talk about your “race.†Every RPG always has elves, hobbits, ogres, trolls, humans, wood elves, night elves, etc. Each race has their own particular attributes that make them who they are. Take a look in the mirror RIGHT NOW. That’s your race. 300 pounds overweight, 50 pounds underweight, average, tall, short, beer gut, 6-pack abs, etc. These are attributes about yourself that you cannot change immediately, so that’s your starting point. Depending on your “race,†certain professions will be easier or harder for you to obtain. Basically, you can pick any sci-fi/ fantasy/ creature thing that resembles you in some way. If you need some ideas, you can look at what some others are or a member made this a while back character sheet Again, you don't have to be what it says, but it may help. You may want to change your mind later. That's fine too. Here are the details for the attributes and scoring for the challenge. You're doing great. Stick with it!
