  1. Belated congratulations! Your progress is truly inspiring. I'll look forward to seeing you in the ranger guild next challenge, and following up on the warrior dash. Keep up the good work.
  2. Congratulations! I'd say that not only was the diet goal the most challenging, it seems like one that builds great habits to keep your progress moving in the future. And you did 6 pushups! That is quite the improvement over 6 weeks! Keep up the practice, and I'm sure you'll see the improvement. I'll be watching for your next challenge, and good luck on the driver's test when it comes around.
  3. Congratulations on the successes, and on the assessment of your failures. I think half-credit for the sword lesson sounds good, since it seems like you ran into a scheduling issue. Make sure you keep on that goal, though! It sounds awesome. I know I don't sleep as well in the heat, and I really have to up my fluid intake. Maybe you're not eating enough, maybe your sleep isn't good, or maybe you just need a change. Good luck in your next challenge, and I'll keep an eye out for you, no matter which guild you end up in.
  4. Right. So, I'm completely inconsistent when it comes to updatinng my thread. I'm sorry to abandon you all. Thanks for the continued encouragement Here's the final update... Goal 1: Lift 2-3 times each week. I totally rocked this goal, going thrice weekly throughout the challenge. A. +4 Str. Goal 2: Run at least 6 miles each week. So I fell short during week five. I managed to get in 4.5 miles that week. B+. +3 Sta. Goal 3: I'm keeping a food log. I managed this one with some struggle, and filled in a few days after the fact. Still, I have a notebook tracking every bit of food I ate throughout the 6 weeks. A. +2 Con, +2 Wis Goal 4: Register for classes for the fall. Due to some financial stress, I made no progress toward this goal. F. Level up! Now on a positive note, I deadlifted my boyfriend's weight today. 165 isn't much, but it is quite a far cry from where I started. Woot.
  5. I've been alternating workout a/b over 3 workouts a week, and the gym is closed on one of my days off, so it doesn't always work out. I may play around with things once this challenge is over.
  6. You, lady, are in big trouble. You inspired me to do a set of tabata sprints tonight, and I feel like I'm going to die. Thursday, there will be more!!! Thanks :-D
  7. White water rafting & camping! Sounds like tons of fun! I hope you are having better weather, and enjoy the rest of the week. Glad to see you're still doing so well with the workouts.
  8. 6 full pushups, wow! Congratulations! You're doing quite well with those. I would almost think the incline pushups would be better (target more of your core) than the kneeling ones. Keep up the awesome!
  9. I think that sometimes the non-alcoholic kind can be more fun .
  10. Looong overdue update time. It seems like I'm either over-enthusiastically posting multiple times each day, or neglecting this thread for a week at a time. I'd make a horrible parent :-D So many workouts between my last post and now, so let me sum things up. I've been just barely making my running goal (with the last-minute distance crunch on Sundays) and have been slacking off a little bit with my food log. I completely missed logging anything for one day last week, and had to enlist my boyfriend's help in remembering what we had for dinner. Tsk, tsk. Shame on me. And I can't seem to remember my password for my school account, and thus registering for class might be postponed until I can call the help desk tomorrow. However, at least one thing is going well. I've become quite set in my 3 days a week lifting routine (haven't missed one yet), and making (slow) progress. I managed to do 2 pull-ups last week, and starting to crank out the chin-ups. I managed 4/2/2 today! I'm still quite a few pounds under for the double red donation. I've dropped back down to 143, although this is probably just small fluctuations in hydration, etc. MOAR LIFTING! MOAR NOMS!!! My deadlift is still a huge struggle for me, especially on days when I work. I have to be up around 3:45 am to make it to work on time, and by the time I make it to the gym, I'm completely exhausted. Deadlifts seem to make progress only on my days off from work. Thanks for the continued support, guys. I know you're just faceless pseudonyms on the internets, but your encouragement has been crutial.
  11. Coming in late to the deadlifting party! I just breezed through your whole 4 weeks of updates, and am super excited by your spirit and strength (I swear, I don't usually sound that cheesy). I've just recently started, and am still struggling with 155lbs. You (and Athena, too) are quite inspiring! Getting stoked for my next deadlift day (sadly, that isn't until Wednesday). Keep up the AWESOME progress! ^^^ seconded
  12. Excellent! I have really grown fond of the forefoot striking, but couldn't go down a flight of stairs right after my first experimentation. Have you read Born to Run by Christopher McDougall? It comes highly recommended from your friendly neighborhood (at least NF neighborhood) bookseller.
  13. Woot! Thanks for the encouragement. I dropped the weight back a bit on Saturday to focus on form, and was back in full swing this morning. I think I might need to adjust my diet a little bit, too. After falling off the wagon last week with both the food log (forgot to keep up for a day or two, and had to try and remember everything) and a few disappointing runs (we're having a nice heat wave come through with increased humidity to match, so I didn't make it as far as I was hoping yesterday), I'm starting off this week strong. Beast mode! I ALMOST managed 2 full pull-ups this weekend. Maybe next time . And according to yesterday's measurements, I am almost 2 lbs heavier, and down 2% body fat! If I keep this up, I might actually be able to do a double red blood donation (they want girls to be at least 150 lbs, which I always thought was crazy and I'd never weigh that much without looking seriously overweight)!!!
  14. Isn't foam rolling great? And evil? I feel like aughing maniacally every time I force myself through the torture. Nice to see your progress is holding steady! Halfway to go! How was the wedding weekend?
