  10. Hi all! I am a complete newb to NF, and thought this was an awesome way to keep track of my goals and better myself . Yesterday I completed a half marathon in Dallas where I met a potpourri of NF gurus. I was introduced to the ways of the forums and decided the monks fit my goals the best. It is nice to have accountability in those who share your interests! I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys! My 6 week challenge will be posted soon; Good Luck to all in theirs!
  11. Here is the background for those who care to listen: A grueling tale of an Ass who got her ass handed to her. At her peak, neigh, in her prime; during the season in which warriors and monks alike train to battle in the the War of the Worlds: she is challenged by her Master to confirm her prowess. It is a battle of becoming: A challenge of skill. Cheechoe steps into the ring and the universe freezes. The air between her and her master changes. Her gaze meets his eyes and she sees the loving spark of a teacher change to the blank primitive stare of an animal. She is white-knuckled on the inside. The fight has begun. Instead of drowning out the noise from outside of the ring, she lets the music a nearby calf has started pump her up as she circles her opponent. She knows he is waiting for her to strike first. "Be a counter-counter fighter", she tells herself, "this one is wise". She flicks her leg into the air to judge his reaction and distance. He just stares at her body, judging the positioning; knowing her thoughts. She begins lightly bouncing on her hooves, masking her muscle movements a bit more. A quick turning kick; high, then low. Answered by lunging forward with a hoof to the nose. Shake it off. Side kick, 180 sidekick. Counter: pick-shape kick, punch, punch.. Answered with punches, but he is heavier than she: She must grapple or spin out. She chooses spin out. Bouncing again. She wants another go. Left leg this time: turning kick, 180 reverse turning kicking - he-is-coming-at-her SIDE KICK! Bingo. Didn't slow him down much, but she got her point in. She knows that wasn't for free. She increase her guard. He shifts with another pick-shape kick and her leg lets her know he can cover a lot of distance. Her next kicks fail the landing and she finds herself bouncing while fully facing her master. Vulnerable and he can smell it. He comes in for a side kick but she knows she cannot move out of the way in time. She turns her shoulder to take the blow on her arm instead of her gut, and the decision ends the match. Though it saved her from loosing her breath from the blow, the powerful kick sent her flying out of the ring and landing her one knee which twisted and tore on impact. The monk was down. She had failed. Fast forward: Recovering from this injury is the basis of this challenge. It must lift Cheechoe back up to where she was, neigh even stronger, faster, better... Hi, my name is Rachael and my main form of fitness is TaeKwon-Do. Last summer I tore my ACL training for a World Championship Tournament. Yes, It was not at all unlike the description above: fighting my instructor for experience in the World level sparring matches. Me being an Ass included. I intend to strengthen my knee and challenge myself to become better than I was before. For this first 6 week challenge: 1. 3 Hours of TaeKwon-Do Training/ Week I have keys to my Do-Jung so I have NO excuses of not being able to find time for this. I cant do most moves on my knee now excluding jump/spin kicks. I can still have a crazy hardcore workout without those. (no sparring yet though - just patterns and bag work). +1 STR +2 DEX +1 STA +1CON 2. 2 Hours of bike Riding/Week I lost some cardio with the injury and am determined to keep up what I have while adding leg strength. I own a bike and have a work schedule which allows me week days off to ride without getting run down by demented Houstonians. This, too should be completely practical. +3 STA 3. Diet: No Consuming Grains of the Processed Persuasion This is my weakness: Bread. I'm relatively good at eating healthy, but a box of cookies can easily undo a week's worth of hard work. I need to check myself on this, guys. This is what will get my body back into machine work-mode. +2 CHA +2 CON 4: Initiate Application Process for Nursing School Ever since I started my current job, I have known I have wanted to go into nursing for a career. I have most if not all the requirements but have minor obstacles which I have turned into molehills. I need to get this started. I am going to +3 WIS on this one because of my unjustified procrastination. I look forward to encouraging all of you in your challenges! Ready-Set-Go!!
  12. Hello, all! My sister, Devyn introduced me to NF and it struck my interest enough for me to give it a go. If any of you happen to know her (Level 4 Kinder Assassin), feel free to send me a greeting; we already have something in common! I already have some-what of a background in fitness, but need new goals and personal records to achieve, TaeKwon-Do is my go-to, but I also run, lift, and am getting into biking. Any inspiration or helpful hints on these are greatly appreciated. I love to accept and provide tutelage, Plus I just love that word. Attempting to break the Ice, Cheechoe (Rachael)
