  1. Day 3 is going well! Still eating paleo and planning on some interval training on my stationary bike when I get home from work. Some exciting non-fitness related news; I have my college schedule fixed for this coming semester! AAAHHH! Such a relief. And I'm heading up to visit my best friend, who is in the army, tomorrow! So yeah! Here's my usual interval training workout: Stretch & warm up 1:00 low interval :30 high interval x8 (12 minutes) Stretch & warm down Planning on making that workout about 20 minutes long soon, or maybe making my low interval shorter. That's all I have for today. Later guys!
  2. Awesome. And wow that's really cool! I'm planning on taking classes at a sister school, too, hopefully in Spain
  3. Helloo, rebels! Today has been great for me so far! Eating Paleo is pretty easy for me right now. After a few days without chocolatey sugary junk, I'm not really craving it any more and when I start to think I want some, it's easy to tell myself no. I'm planning to hit the gym today after work, too, I'll post my stats here later! I'm aiming for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This is my usual workout: 1-mile warm up & stretch Squats - Straight-leg Deadlifts - Chest Presses - Assisted Pull-Ups - Planks - Warm down & stretch ...Aand here is my workout from today! Leg press: 10x230 6x250 8x250 Leg Curls: 10x80 5x100 5x100 Chest Press: 9x90 3x100 4x95 Lat Pull-Downs: 12x62 6x75 7x75 And 3 30-second Planks My goal is 5 reps each set with the heaviest weight possible. Today was my first lifting sesh in a while, so my first sets for each exercise were a little off. And I forgot to put my Life Quest on my first post! I'm going to start going to church every Sunday, or at least listening to a sermon online. it's been waaaay too long. And just for my Whovians out there, does anyone have a favorite doctor? I've got to go with the Ninth Doctor... opinions anyone?
  4. I don't usually cry, but it was pretty heartbreaking. Haha thank you!
  5. I gotcha! I feel so much better when I eat right and work out, too. I feel like I sould work on getting my body fat down before I really hit the weights, but I'm not really sure. I'm probably going to start lifting every other day and doing some sprints on off days. But yeah! I'm not exactly sure how the accountibilibuddies thing works, are we supposed to exchange emails or...? And congrats on almost graduating! Is Uni the same as college? Sorry, I don't know some of the Australian words for things like that haha. I'm starting my first semester soon!
  6. I just edited it! And awesome My usual routine is full-body - squats, deadlifts, bench presses, pull-ups (assisted) and planks
  7. Hey! I found your thread on the accountibilibuddies sheet, and I think we have some of the same goals! Let me know if you'd like to be my buddy!
  8. Hey guys! I'm Shelbs, and I'm definitely a nerd. I'm not a gamer, but I'm a Whovian if that counts (hence the title of my topic). I just watched the episode where Rose gets stuck in that parallel universe, and actually cried. I know. I'm into the strength training thing and, let's be honest, the Doctor needs a strong sidekick to help him fight the evils of our universe. Why not me? My main quest here is to fit into a size 8! These are my 3 things that I'm going to do to accomplish my mission: 1. Eat Paleo 2. Lift (heavy), 3 times per week 3. Sleep 8 hours a night Last year, I lost about 30 pounds by eating a LOT less and running a ton (aka the wrong way). I felt like I was reaching my goals, but I was soo low on energy. It started to take an effort to even get off of the couch. Anyways, since then, I've gained back that weight and am feeling horrible - physically, emotionally, mentally. I'm currently a size 12/14, 5'9", 185 pounds. I've always loved sports, but my laziness and eating habits have been weighing me down, literally. So now I'm changing it! I've already started going paleo and the little bit of exercise I've done has already made me feel tons better. I'd LOVE to get into weight lifting and interval training, and there's not a single thing in the world that's going to stop me. Motivation: Being a more confident, healthy, happy me. And the college boys. Let's do some work, people.
  9. Hey guys! It's been almost a month since I started eating paleo now and I don't really feel tempted by junk food anymore! Thank gawd. Bad news... I have arrived at the conclusion that a good bit of the 11 ish pounds that I have lost so far was probably muscle. But like I said, I've been focusing more on diet than exercise lately, so I'm planning to start working out regularly again. Theoretically, I'll get some of that muscle back and lose fat in the process. So everything's going pretty well for me! But yeah, about Crossfit. Does anyone do it?? It looks pretty awesome. Advice? Comments? I'll try to check in with NF at the beginning-ish of every week. Calculus exam tomorrow, so if I never post again, it's probably because my brain exploded. Talk to y'all later, peace and blessin's
  10. WELL I have been eating paleo (mostly) for a couple of weeks now and I have lost right about 8 pounds. I'm thinking that some of that was probably muscle mass, though... I haven't been hitting the gym because I'm working on building my eating habits the right way before I jump all the way into the health haul (that's what I've done in the past and it never ended well). But I haven't wanted junk food until today, and I didn't eat any! Whoooo. The goal right now is small victories, every day. I'm thinking that I'm going to start throwing some random bodyweight workouts in when I get the chance. I'm still focusing mainly on my diet for another couple of weeks and then I'm hoping to start working on a regular workout plan. After next week, I'll only have 2 classes until the end of school (hallelujah) and then graduation will be right around the corner. *New longterm goal: CROSSFIT! And I have a Bible app that I just found out has a read-the-Bible-in-chronological-order plan, so I'm working on that goal, too. So everything's pretty much going according to plan so far. I'm going to try to start posting to NF every Monday from now on, just to start the week off right. Laytuhhh
  11. Oh hey, Nerd Fitness. I'm Shelby, and this is my first post. Do people introduce themselves on these things? Idunno... Okay, I will. Well, I'm 5'10, 180 pounds (as of today) and I'm somewhat athletic. I play volleyball and I swim, I love sports but I'm horrible at them. I play them anyways. I'm pretty much a nerd. 4.65 GPA in the hizzy. Headed to college next year (eeeeppp!) and ready to make some lifelong healthy habits for myself. I'm a Christian, and I'm not trying to make anyone else become a Christian... But this is my thread so I'll write what I want God speaks against unhealthy living in the Bible (Proverbs 23:20, Philippians 3:19, etc.) because my body is a Temple. Not a trashcan. So, this has become one of my paradigms. My body is His, not mine, so I aim to respect it. Steve tells us to come up with some goals, so here are some goals I'm setting for myself! Diet Goals: Paleo all the way bruhtha. Exercise Goals: Lift 3 times a weekRun a mile on off days (Except for Sunday.) Non-fitness-or-health-related Goals: Read the Bible every day Lots of stuff. Yeah, it's sort of intimidating, but the only thing scarier than changing is always staying the same. "If your goals don't scare you, they are not big enough." -Ellen Johnson Sirleaf So yeah! Starting tomorrow (and I mean it this time... you have no idea how tired I am of telling myself that) and every day after that, I will work to be better than I was the day before. Comment, post, blah, blah, blah. I'd love to hear from my fellow Rebels :] Later guys!
