  1. Had a shitty day today, second one in a row but bootcamp tonight was brilliant and I feel like I'm getting fitter. Got told I have mean thigh muscles which is cool. I noticed earlier this week that I don't fit my stripy yoga pants anymore. And I'm not upset drinking a bamboo tea at the mo nearly sorted through my tax mess which is a win
  2. Hot sunny day here today and I spent too much inside i did the lawns at least which is hard work with the push mower, and had a few goes at the slackline passable day foodwise I suppose but I haven't eaten much and it's 7pm, dunno what I'll make for tea. Plus I found wine in the cupboard
  3. Friday night, finally i'm looking forward to sleeping as I hardly got any this week, especially last night. The cat is driving me crazy keeping me awake had my pt this morning and got through it ok. Luckily I kind of got a second wind qfter lunch but still didn't get a lot done no training tomorrow
  4. Claiming points today for what I ate- barely counted though, yoga, reset my possum trap (nazi- environmental duty points), and here is my nerdblog so glad tomorrow is friday, it's been one long week
  5. I need to try make it a habit to nerdblog on my way home I think today I blogged almost everything I ate, a few bad snacks excluded. A full week of finance workshops can do that to a person last night I bootcamped which was intense and brilliant as always except I got stuck the odd one out and ended up with a kid which sucked. Went through realising I was the odd one out etc i didn't really exercise today except the walk to and from the train at both ends plus maybe three lengths of the slackline tomorrow is yoga i have done no prod/dev or nazi punchine lately- I've been super tired. I really need to get onto that though
  6. I was so hungry all day today and all I ate was toast. heading to yoga soon
  7. I've been eating sort of ok; few biscuits here and there but better. I've been keeping my rocket blog at least exercise- keeping up with that most days I'm kind of having thr horrors though because we had to do an exercise at fire last night, half the station against the other half starting with us recruits. It was exactly like PE and I totally panicked and got everything wrong Tonight is bootcamp though we might go out Punch a nazi has stalled but I found out how to rejoin the union at least I think the main thing at the mo is my brain is overfull with new job stuff, and my body is getting used to working again
  8. I need a better plan to keep to my habits, especially this blogging one today I had my pt, ate coleslaw for breakfast, then a burrito bowl for lunch, and falafel & coleslaw for tea I thought a lot about wine on the way home but didn't buy any i came home a bit early as I was so tired, and actually dozed off on the train Had a bit of a go on the slackline again as well. I'm so bruised from it last time, all the way down both legs. I didn't really notice at the time. We think we have fire training tomorrow morning but no confirmation. We'll see. I'm watching rescues again tonight. Mainly I'm just looking forward to a sleep this weekend. It felt like a very long week
  9. Omg I'm dying i got home from first day of work, starving and I ate leftover homemade curry then I got a call about bootcamp which started in 15 mins i deliberated for like 2 mins then got changed and raced off on my bike. Made it the class was a whole hour! Everything is burning and I did get a stitch by the end but I didn't puke and I'm not dying as much as I actually expected. Even though it was so hard, after we stopped I was smiling so much and I've got that buzz on going to sleep well too! i'll definitely be there next week it's especially good as it's another thing to do with my two mana wahine firefighter buddies. We're going to be so fit
  10. I forgot to post yesterday. It was patchy weather and I didn't do much except walk to the station then help pack down at the races. Food was ok not amazing currently I'm sitting in a cafe before heading up to my first day of a new contract at my old work ...
  11. This year my main mindset focus is motivation and discipline. This week I've started using a habit tracker app to track five habits for at least 66 days 1. got active today 2. eat to fight fires 3. do a thing (productive/dev) 4. nerdblog 5. punch a nazi today I decided to change one of them to 4. nerdblog. I want to keep a diary primarily here + occasionally in the facebook group to cover what I did or learned that day. This morning I had a couple of coffees (one black at home, one soy bought), walked into town, visited a market and bought a crystal pendant, then helped my fire colleagues set up for the races which we do to fundraise for our social club. When I got home I had the second half of a burger I couldnt finish yesterday and then (after mucking round on the net for a bit) set up my slackline and practiced on that for maybe half an hour. I took 6 steps on my best go, mostly managed 2-3. I could barely stand when I started. I bought the line last summer but haven't used it all year. I'll leave it up until tomorrow then take it down as I think the weather is going to pack in again and I have to go back to work. I want to give it a go at least every second weekend or so while it is summer though I can feel my thighs and abs a bit after the time I spent. I started off clinging to two brooms as the line shook so bad but then I read some hints online and with that technique it was easier on my own. I'm going to have another go this afternoon as well. My other focus for this year - the first half anyway - is my fire training. At the end of last year I signed up as a recruit volunteer fire fighter. The course we're aiming at is probably july, so all my fitness and training is aiming at that. My arm strength is slowly improving as is my general cardio. Training has been a little sporadic this summer but I'm about to launch back into my routine as I start work again so I'll find it easier from then. My fitness plan is: Monday night - fire training Tuesday night - I think I'm going to go to a bootcamp type class, not sure yet Wednesday - gym day Thursday night - yoga Friday - gym day Weekend - bike ride, run, or a hike or something Haven't locked in my pt schedule yet as I want to see what my work week is like but will be wednesday or friday. If I go to the bootcamp I'll make it friday I decided to clarify my food goal as 'eat to fight fires' rather than any specific requirements. What I mean by this is, have I eaten enough of the right food so I'm good to respond to a call at any time? A lot of what I want to cut from my life, or reduce, is food that makes me feel sluggish or just isn't nutritious, and I want to increase my vegetables and whole foods. It's mostly just laziness and poor planning. Like right now we have no veges in the house and we're running low on staples because I haven't done a shop in so long. My biggest nemesis is bread. Not exactly because I love it but just because it's easy and always around. If I can sort my snack game this is half the battle As I go back to work I'll start making breakfast smoothies again. Usually berries or mango, oats, chia, green powder, protein powder, and apple or whatever fruit I have, plus spinach when I have it. And punch a nazi reminds me to do something good for the world every day - something to actively build the world I want to live in
  12. Very tasty dinner: the roast potatoes, I think I had 3 1/2 smallish ones Steamed broccoli, and I had maybe 2/3c (all) of the luau as well which is so unhealthy and so so good. Lucky I can't cook it! And I had a berocca as well The shopping should be arriving pretty soon! Didn't get any treats really, except peaches!
  13. just put in some potatoes to roast for tonight - I've just pricked them and put them on the pizza stone in there. Will see how it goes, they're all pretty little. We almost never have potatoes then j will have his chicken and i'll have the luau both left form yesterday Will have some kind of salady thing as well
  14. About an hour after I posted that I went for a run. I ran 3.38km in 24.16mins. First 2km were non-stop, and average 6.20pace. I had to walk/jog/walk after that; average pace 7.10 overall. Right now I'm eating porridge which is about 1/4c oats, 1/4c blueberries, a shake of bran and LSA, 1/2c almond milk, and water, big scoop of peanut butter, and a tsp of raw sugar. Guessing at that because I'm only eating about half the mix and the rest will go to my chickens. Additives are in my bowl only - sugar is not good for chickens. Or me for that matter and I don't actually think it needs it. Looking forward to the shopping arriving tonight, I've been without chia seeds for way too long I feel really good after my run. My mood is lifted and I feel energised. Yay
