  1. Did any of you join Rising Heroes? I am enjoying it quite a bit so far.
  2. Hey all. It has been a crazy busy couple of days for me. I will post more and get through everything I have missed after I get caught up at work!
  3. It helps that I have such a wonderful supportive woman by my side. After I told her about my plan she told me to make sure I wake her up and she will walk everyone of those miles with me. She reminds me of my goals and encourages me to obtain them... and for nothing more than she wants to have as many years with me as she possibly can, so she wants me to be as healthy as I can be.
  4. My day for the most part was good. I stayed right on track food wise and I had a great workout. I only got 3 miles in walking due to a very busy evening. I have decided though instead of enjoying extra sleep on Saturday and Sunday mornings that I don't need (It was just a way to be lazy) I am going to continue to get up at 5 on those days as well and get out there with the dog and make up my mile deficiency for the week. To meet my goal I need 38.2 miles walked per week. So come Friday evenings I will determine how much more I need to accomplish the weekly goal, split it in half and walk that on weekend mornings.
  5. Glad you had a good day and don't worry about 69 calories. You realized you went over a little without letting it destroy the rest of your day and that is the important part. It is so easy when we make a mistake or stumble to just say oh well I have screwed the day up so what does it matter what else I eat today. Not doing that is a win all on its own. I wish I had some good advice for you about the gym. I can say going in there and getting on the bench or racking up to the squat station is a little, not embarrassing really but disheartening would be a better word. When I see guys in there lifting and I use to look as good as they do now. But I have to put life into perspective. I am not there for them. I am there for me and worrying about what anyone in the gym thinks about me and my workout WILL stop me from being able to get back to looking like them again.
  6. That is great about the workout. My joint have been yelling at me because of it. Most fast food places have somewhat healthier choices if that's your only option. A salad or a grilled chicken option. Avoid the fries, the tots, the sodas!! You can do it.
  7. This isn't Dragon Warrior (NES), Final Fantasy 3 (SNES), Legend of Zelda OOT, (Nin64).... They all had a beginning and an end! This is World of Warcraft baby... There is no end, there is no time frame. You get in there everyday and dedicate yourself to making your toon the best you possibly can. I put almost 5 years in to one Night Elf Hunter (also named Taldor)! and just when you think you are at the top of the game, doing heroic raids like its a game of candyland.... BOOM, life releases another expansion!
  8. The mirror is siding with the "Arse of Lardiness"... don't give in to her. You are stronger than your image!
  9. Day 2 ended out as I had planned it. I got some good walks in and I am 11 miles into my Rivendell challenge. Which is right on track to where I need to be. Diet is still on track. Workout B was completed this morning and I feel it in my joints. Hopefully that subsides with time and stretching. I am really glad everyone else is doing so well...
  10. Your not going to fail, whether it be in the first few days or the last week of the challenge!
  11. Love what I am seeing today... Hearing about the successes you guys are all having today had done wonders for helping me get through my bad morning. This day has turned around and I did not falter.
  12. I'm glad everyone had a pretty good day 1 for the most part!! Choice by choice... Remember your lives aren't going to just give in to the time you need to get healthy. Some days life is going to fight back... but it is your life. You have to command it, you have to control it. You will each have to make a conscious effort to ensuring time is made for exercise, making yourself healthy meals and anything else needed to meet your goals. I have started day 2 with 90 minutes in traffic followed by a speeding ticket. I want to be pissed off grab a beer and a donut for breakfast. That is what I WANT to do.... but choices.... Life will fight us all in its own way, because todays society is setup for comfort and ease which is the path to being unhealthy. To quote the little green man on my dash board, "comfort and ease lead to complacency. complacency leads to laziness, laziness leads to an unwillingness to take care of yourself and not taking care of yourself leads to being unhealthy" Everyday.... make the choice! GET IT!
  13. Day one went great... day 2 started with an hour and 30 minute stand still in traffic followed by a speeding ticket.
  14. Clean eating for me. All food I prepared at home and unplanned, all paleo! Didn't get any studying done. Took me 40 minutes (including time for warmup and cool down stretches) to get my workout and I got almost 6 miles in of walking! Overall very happy with the start!
