  1. I imagine the first time attempting this would be kind of intense...maybe use a mattress or something to practice on? haha
  2. Good goals, I have a few friends striving for the pull-up goal, and I think the amount of work to get to that point is very worthy if focusing on that...and practicing piano. You could set it up so that you could have cat videos playing while you are practicing...maybe compose music to go along with the cat videos? Best of luck and hoping the first couple of days have gone well!
  3. Very good goals! Have you thought about assigning a grading system...say you do 15 push ups you will 75% of your skill points? I mean, I am hoping we all reach and exceed our goals...but it is a nice backup to prevent being discourage if some reason it doesn't. Besides, you'll want to value the all the work you put into it! I like how you picked the FBI requirements! Future aspirations?
  4. I love puns! Haha. How was the Movement Fest? Any favorite artists? I knew it worked...very cool to see actual science behind it haha!
  5. Awesome on the bike. I've been thinking of getting one...I live in a smallish coastal town near SF. I could probably get away with riding my bike to the grocery store sometimes and just buying what I can fit in my backpack haha. Yeah, my house is a bit untidy - single living's advantage/disadvantage, but planning on getting it under control by next week once I get back from a little extended weekend this weekend. Where did you travel? And what kind of residency are you going in to?
  6. I posted a playlist on my thread that worked pretty well What do you normally like listening to?
  7. Good to hear things are off to a good start! As for avoid workplace snacks, I also find trying to avoid the area with the snacks or not joining in on the "cake days" or special treat days...just being in the kitchen/break room is too tempting. As a fellow Soundtrekker, I look forward to following your progress. Feel free to swing by the group thread sometime: http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/30812-soundtrekkers-unite/
  8. Sometimes we need to start with baby steps to lead us to the bigger steps. I had trouble with trying to drink more liquids that wasn't soda or heavily sweetened drinks...I found pure ice tea, like Tejava, to be a godsend - I loved the taste and no additives, sweetners, or even sodium like some "diet" brands still have in their products. Then it is an easier time to incorporating more water in the daily routine...I am using a water bottle with measurements on the side to help keep track. Best of luck to your goals! And feel free to checkout the Soundtrekker's accountibilibuddies thread - http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/30812-soundtrekkers-unite/. Welcome to group
  9. Great goals. I have heard awesome things from friends who have done the Color Me Rad 5k, so it should be a blast! I hope the ankle decides to be like minded haha, I also posted the Accountibilibuddies thread for the Soundtrekkers, Feel free to check it out - http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/30812-soundtrekkers-unite/ I look forward to watching your progress!
  10. Hello Fellow Soundtrekkers! Thank you for joining the group. I look forward to the mutual support we will offer each other over the next 6 weeks (and beyond). So I came up with the term Soundtrek and the myriad of variations when I was at Coachella for my first time 7 years ago. I was watching Imogen Heap perform "Hide and Seek" and I felt the awesome feeling you get when you really connect to a song...a feeling that I have felt many times when the right song plays. It was like I was at the right place, the right time, with the right music playing - it felt like a soundtrack to my life, like everything connecting and my life moving forward....so after some creative thinking in the after glow of the moment, I coined the term. As for how it fits in with helping us achieve our goals, I have feel a very similar feeling when I am working out the right song. If you check out my day 1 progress Challenge 1, I posted Gossip's "Move in the Right Direction", which for me is such and inspirational song for working out - a Soundtrek moment. With everyone's support and our music, I know we can rock this challenge and achieve our goals! So please sound off with any suggestions, music recommendations, achievements, questions, etc. Thanks for tuning in, Odin8 And for the moment that started it all - not my video, I was off somewhere to the left lost in the moment...
  11. Very reasonable goals and off to a good start, good work. And what a fun way to get your workout minutes in at the water park. What else do you have planned for your vacation? Saw you joined the Soundtrekkers Accountibilibuddies team..Welcome! Best of luck in the upcoming 6 weeks.
  12. I love starting off with the Mortal Kombat song...great inspirational music haha...might need to add it to my workout mix. Good luck on your goals! I like the ease of going into Paleo, sometimes going cold turkey (or is it cold cheese in this case) can be very hard. Also, what kind of work do you do/looking for?
  13. Not sure if this the same boat, but I have used Adele to kind of describe this band Wild Belle that I have seen at a couple music festivals...thinking you might like it...I love suggesting new music to people after getting an idea what they like.
  14. I'm thinking that after awhile of breaking the habit of wanting to snooze, you might actually train your mind/body to accept that as your new, "true" wake time....and hopefully/maybe won't need an alarm if your mind/body does an even better job of regulating I used to be really bad and set an alarm every 15min before waking up (as many as my cellphone would allow) and considered those my snoozes. Then after awhile I kind of acclimated and also had some help with being able to get into work a little late and not needing to be up that early. "But it's a glorious day when morning comes without the feeling of alarm" - The Submarines "1940" - Switch out "alarm" for "snooze" and and you might have a mantra for your "no snooze mornings"
  15. Haha awesome! What do you normally like to sing? Also, great grading system. I have seen a number of people do that and am planning on doing it myself. Hope day 1 is working out well so far!
  16. I hear ya on #4...and you are doing much earlier than I am haha. As for #1, I found an article after reading a number of challenges incorporating increased water intake. Here is the article from LifeHacker http://lifehacker.com/5986895/how-much-water-do-i-actually-need-to-drink-every-day Good luck on your goals!
  17. If Wash can nail that landing, you can accomplish your goals! By the time they get around to it (IF they ever), baby Wash's and Zoe's baby (Zoe shows up in a 1-off comic pregnant) will hopefully have grown and is the kid pilot...playing with Wash's dinosaurs hopefully!
  18. You're not the only one with their fitness noob hanging out. I am a super night owl...hoping to use some of that time to get in some sort of exercise...be great planking, pushup time haha.
  19. So many cons not enough time.. you'll have to post pics
  20. Good luck on your goals! I love the costume ideas too! I saw kupo-kupo and had to check out your challenge haha. If you mean SDCC, I will have to keep a eye out for your costume. They should stand out awesomely.
  21. I like the dedication and commitment in your goals. Good luck and remember... You are a leaf on the wind, and we wil watch how you soar
  22. I like the idea on not looking at the scale or counting the pounds/kilos. I might have to do that during the 6 weeks...well besides at the beginning and end haha. Also, for the Initiate Contact goal, that is a great idea. If everyone is as nice and easy to talk to as the people I met while in NZ on holiday, I imagine you would have some great conversations! Good luck on your goals!
  23. Great goals and awesome website! As someone with a decent commute as well, I understand the snacking thing. I've been good about not doing so by a couple different methods: 1) drinking unsweetened ice tea...water would be better but I think something with taste makes it easier and 2) blasting my music and singing with it ...hard to sing and snack at the same time Good luck with you goals!
  24. Agree on the baby steps...I mean it worked for , right? Well, if we all strive to do Batman pushups...the collective is called a cloud...but doesn't right. Fellowship of the Bat has a better ring haha
  25. Good luck with your challenge, move/new job, and potential for Indian Jones-esque adventure! The work sounds very interesting. And if I might ask, I am curious to your thoughts, as an expert , on the Vikings TV show that the History channel put out as they said they were trying to be "authentic" where they could while also telling a narrative. I like the idea of the breath meditations. I cab get easily distracted, especially at home and I think focusing on doing those and tuning everything else out would be a great way to improve focus.
