  1. Hey all I'm back from a fantastically relaxing break, will update when I have a minute (and go check out how you are doing with your challenges as well), just wanted to let you know that I haven't disappeared again like last time haha. Gotta get some sleep now, the movers are coming tomorrow to catalogue all our stuff so busy days ahead! Thanks for every message!
  2. Hey those are great goals!! I'd love to try CrossFit out someday too How was your Week 1?
  3. Wow Awesome stuff coming from you this week! I don't know how I will manage to do the Whole30 actually. Need my tea! Anywho, good luck for Week 2
  4. Thanks KingL I think the break is just what I will need to get back on track! Ja the other goals were not "gelling".. so rather a plan change than failure, hey?
  5. Woohoo such a positive week, well done!! Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better
  6. ... wow what an intense set of goals, that's AWESOME! I have not been brave enough to attempt the Whole30 just yet, but I can see you're doing swimmingly!
  7. WEEK 1 REPORT: Goal #1 ~ D Goal #2 ~ C Goal #3 ~ C I've decided to change my 3 goals. Not sure if this is in keeping with the Challenge rules but the new ones will (hopefully) be of more help in levelling up my life, which is what NF is all about, right? In any case, here they are: #1 Eat EVERYTHING off a plate, in plain view. This includes tasters when cooking! As I've mentioned before, comfort eating is my biggest vice. I want to kick the habit by taking notice of what I'm eating instead of just stuffing any kind of edible matter in my mouth when I feel blue. #2 Limit "bad carbs" to ONE serving per day. (i.e. half a slice of bread, OR a small helping rice, OR one muffin, OR a rusk, OR a biscuit ...) #3 Take a Nature Break each day. Spend some time outside, just letting my thoughts go. I need this because I've been allowing myself to become too stressed which in turn is undermining all my motivation and willpower. I'll add the new grading methods later. Looking forward to tomorrow, because I'm heading off to spend a week with my family at a hot water spring spa! Good stress-busting plan, ma and pa
  8. Lack of sleep turns me into a muffin-gobbling monster >:(

  9. Saturday 3rd August Thanks to Artinum's input I've made good progress on the first step of my plan! For my reference I'll be posting a list of tips for barefoot beginners that I've been sifting out from the many resources on the net (barefootdawsy's blog is incredibly helpful by the way - note to self: send him a nice thank you message sometime). And then I need to start on step two by spending some time jogging barefoot outside. Shouldn't be difficult as I'm normally barefoot in summer anyway and the days are warming up quickly. But I must stress to myself the importance of starting SLOWLY and WITH PATIENCE! Non-Paleo things eaten: ~slice homebaked bread, buttered ~couple pinches parmesan cheese (on sliced tomato) ~small heaped bowl salted popcorn ~milk in my tea (8 cups) Everything else was "allowed". Water: 3 glasses.
  10. Following because I'm also 5'0, aiming for 115 lbs and interested in eating more Primal/Paleo
  11. Thanks for the tip! I could definitely give that a try. Think my form needs some attention too. Going to have a look now..
  12. Ahaha well each to his own That would really nice, thank you! Sometimes the best recipes come from mistakes.. Yes, very exciting on the one hand and very sad on the other! Can't believe I'm leaving this beautiful country in just 28 days..Yup I'm not pushing myself too hard with my goals, don't want to burn out, but I haven't done too badly.. will post a weekly update on the weekend. Thanks for your support! I will definitely keep you updated on the skydiving and stuff
  13. Ooo an adventure camp, how exciting! Have a great time with all the kids Like you my first week hasn't been top notch, but I'm going to stay positive, as you have. Two steps forward and one back is still progress. Keep on truckin' See you next week, looking forward to hearing about your fun weekend!

my father got a job offer he couldn't refuse so we thought we'd try living there for a few years

  15. All added to my list, cheers guys!
  16. I've got about 20 lbs and a ton of bad habits to lose. But I'm taking this slowly, day by day, step by step. My diet is very healthy on the whole, it's the comfort eating that sabotages my efforts. But I'm working on that. I would like to transition to eating Paleo 60-65% of the time (can't give up milk in my tea or my sister's artisan bread). I'd like to try theWhole30 when my life isn't so crazy. Perhaps when I'm settled in Australia. I was fairly fit at 17 years old, averaging under 50 mins for a 10km and playing field hockey 3x a week. Now I can't even run a 3km without my shin splints announcing their presence. I would LOVE to regain my fitness and build muscle tone! I don't have the money for a gym pass, and personally want to be more flexible with my routine anyway (like a true Assassin) so I'll try a few bodyweight routines out. In Aus I'd like to start swimming again, and maybe dabble in a bit of Pilates and yoga. My 2013 plan for success: - research solution for shin splints - start running again, slowly! - experiment with bodyweight exercises to eventually set a weekly routine in place - start swimming (with a trainer?) - go to a beginner's yoga class or get a book - join a hockey club - dust off my 10 Min Solution Pilates DVDs - eat as closely to the Whole30 plan as possible in my current situation - drink 5 glasses water daily (one of my Challenge goals) - avoid browsing NF on my cell phone in bed! Sleep! I'll try to post daily..
  17. +1 to this! KMC when I turned fifteen I sunk into a 4 year long depression. I just wanted to die.. Instead of talking about how I was feeling, I started comfort eating and put on 30 lbs which made things even worse. last year was the first time that I began to feel happy and actually worth something again. I'm still working on my lack of self-discipline but have made a lot of progress using this ^ method. The first step for me was to realise that I am a good person, and deserve my own love and care. Life is a gift.. You are strong, courageous and beautiful. Armed with this knowledge, you can overcome anything. We believe in you!
  18. Thank you it's all happening so quickly now! Selling all our excess furniture and stuff today.. I haven't done very well with my no snooze goal so far. Like you say, it would help if I was in bed earlier! That would be great, I'll keep an eye on it and will send you recipe requests when I crave something lekker from home. Have you tried making bunny chows? I want to try making Paleo bread but you will most likely have better results (I'm still a bit of a disaster in the kitchen hehe).I grew up on Maltabella! Ghastly stuff. Pronutro too. Thanks for keeping me accountable, guys! I appreciate every bit of support!
  19. Ek ook! But I'm in the Karoo.. and leaving soon :'(
  20. Thanks for all the suggestions Lupus and Athena! I'm writing a list of things to try out when I get there
  21. Welcome to Nerd Fitness! Georgia sounds amazing, I think experiencing other countries and cultures is so character-building. You have to be brave, as you obviously are! Your goals are great, and I love the way you've written down the potential obstacles on your pathway to health. I need to do that. Anywho, best of luck for your challenge!
  22. What an awesome challenge from an awesome lady! The theme is perfect, pics are hilarious and your goals are well thought out. Congrats on a successful day one!!
  23. Saving this spot for Day 1 and 2 reports (eek!) [Edit]: actually no, I will do weekly reports. I'm gonna hafta start a Battle Log to keep abs on track. She's a weak-willed lazy bum, joh.
  24. Oh my word, Brazil!!? Not fair, I want to go! Such a noisy, colourful sounding place (you wont be homesick hehe). What a way to start your challenge! Kudos to you for having the self control to bake and not taste half the batter! Something I'm still battling with (you think your discipline is swak, hah!) Also I saw you mentioned buying nuts and wondered if you know about that place in Ottery - Yellow Submarine. They sell in bulk at good prices. Looking forward to Day 2
  25. Hey DFTBAmanda, thanks! I see you're with the Assassins now. Awesome! I'll be there too one day..
