  1. Hey everybody! Sorry for being gone for so long (how long has it been? 10 months?). I've been set back a lot health wise. But I'm back and that's what counts, right? Here's my challenge, and good luck to everyone! I might not be online as much, but I'll be here!
  2. Hey y'all! I'm minx34, starting the challenge a little late, but better late than ever, right? I guess for me it is a bit hard coming back because of how far set back I am. Last December I was doing really, really well. I went from 214lbs to 198, worked out steadily, and was doing ok. Somehow life and grad school started kicking me in the butt. I got a behind, then the weight creeped back on me. Every pound I gained back made me lose confidence, which made it worse. Don't get me wrong! Some good stuff happened too! I finally got engaged in July to the love of my life that I've been with for 8 years (woo!). I also went to Cape Town, South Africa this summer (froze in the cold weather, but had fun). However, somewhere along the line I lost confidence. I got less active. And now I'm worse than when I first started, at the highest weight in my life: 221lbs. But I want to get better, if not to set an example as a health educator, then to be a healthier woman for my partner. Anyway, the challenge. I'll post attribute points to each later (Attribute points added!): Main Quest: To be a healthier woman in my life, as well as lose enough weight to get into a size 12 (that's the size I was at the healthiest point in my life) 1) Do at least 30 minutes of cardio activity at the gym 3 days a week (5 STA) 2) Have a Paleo diet for all meals at least 2 days out of the week (3 CON) 3) Do modified Beginners Bodyweight exercise 2 days a week (4 STR) I got into a car accident a month a go, and I am still rehabbing my spine. Just got cleared to exercise about 2 weeks ago, but I can not lift or tug anything heavy. So instead of rows I'll just be doing my rehab exercises with tension bands instead. And I'll do stair stepper exercises instead of jumping jacks. Finally, my life quest is to finish the outline of my master's thesis paper by December 12th. (3 WIS) So here we go!
  3. Back after being gone forever. Let's do this :)

  4. lilbichy I wasn't able to sneak in a workout because they kept me so busy I'll give you guys a full report in what's going on in my life sometime on Thursday. Busy week behind me and ahead...almost buried by work but still here...
  5. That's true! Thank you, and thank you everyone! I didn't get to work out yesterday since I didn't get home so late. But maybe it was good I took a day off since I woke up sore has hell this morning! I'm going to try to work out when I get to my friend's mom's house. Hopefully they don't mind Going to stick with squats and planks for now. When I get back to my apartment this weekend I'm going to start doing both work outs, squats and planks then dumbell work outs and ellipticals. Like a boss.
  6. I want to go to the hangout too!
  7. Just did jump squats for the first time in 3 weeks! Took me 5 sets but I did 100! The most jump squats I've ever done. My legs are like "well hello there!"
  8. So, I did my work out today! Squats and planks. I'm glad I kept it at that. My body was like "Yo dawg, we haven't done these jump squats in nearly a month and you want to start again all willy nilly? Bad feels." But you know what? I got through them 100 of them! Took me 5 sets: 20, 20, 25, 20, and 15. But I did the whole 100. The my challenge goal is to do them in 2 sets. I've got a looooong way to go. As far as my planks went I got 120 seconds in with 4 sets: 30, 34, 30, 26. I want to do 240 seconds, and the last time I did planks I got to 152 seconds in 5 sets. So not much improvement, still got a ways to go there. But you know what? I did it! I got out of my lethargy slump and freaking did it! My lungs are open, my heart is pumping, and I just gave my muscles some wake up juice. Now tomorrow I will continue doing my dumbbell work outs, and hopefully I'll snag an elliptical too
  9. Keep those high hopes! You got this! And it sounds like you're going to have a awesome holiday
  10. Thank you, you two! I don't even know myself. Thank you for checking in!
  11. I haven't tried that yet. I think I'm working on my form first, and then maybe I'll go buy one when I have money
  12. Suspicious coffee noises! XD Also you look lovely, Evicious.
  13. Starting off the day with oatmeal and bacon, time sensitive emails, and my usual exercise warm up: jumping (sans jump rope), punches (jabs and hooks), kicks, a couple of squats and lunges. Even though I'm not working out right now, it feels good to get the blood pumping a little Going to begin my regimen tomorrow.
  14. Yup! I don't know how it do it either. I'd say God, gumption, and the temporary lift of my ban on chocolate. That sounds like a good idea! I think I'll do it. I'm going to my sorority sister's mom's house since I can't fly home to Cali. Hopefully I won't attract notice doing some exercise in their guest room lol.
  15. *peeks head through the door* I'm back, y'all! Sorry that I was gone for so long. The thought of you awesome people pulled me back I love this group. Also, this post gave me life and good lolz: How is everyone doing? What is motivating people? I'm going to close my eyes and send all of you good juju your way. Also, a nod to previous posts: spaghetti squash is awesome. Oh, holidays. Thanksgiving is going to be a plight. Stay strong!!!
  16. *resurfaces* Thank you two for asking! I have finally returned terosx, the short answer to your question: yes. I'm sorry I've been gone the past two weeks. Here's what's been going on (takes a deep breath) ready? Here we go: had to find the money to pay for my older brother's insurance and his second baby's clothes, great uncle died, started taking on duties as chair to a high school scholarship essay contest, became impromptu president of a grad student organization, had two quizzzes and a paper, joined a student gov, in charge of planning a holiday event for a youth center in addition to tutoring them in english, got to complaints for work, had to stay over hours from said job this week without so much of a thank you, and I have a midterm on Monday. I think that about sums it. You guys didn't hear from me because the pressure, particularly from the new leadership positions, and the depression I felt from the pressure nearly crushed me. But it didn't. I am rising above it and to the task. And I'm back here. Sorry for the radio silence in the midst of it all. But you rebels, particularly my RPGFanatics crew, have always been on my mind and I've been occasionally stalking your posts Goals are okay. I have only had the chance to exercise once a week these two weeks, but its better than nothing! I showed my roomie, a postdoc from Taiwan, how to not be afraid of dumbbell weights and how to use them. She was swinging at first, but I showed her how to do a proper bicep curl. It was cute and rewarding For those work outs I did dumbbell presses instead of pushups (which I discovered I liked better than push ups), bicep curls, and one armed rows. The two elliptical machines in my apartment have been occupied, so I'm looking for a chance to snag them >.> Now that things have finally lightened up I'm going finally work out 4 times a week like I want. On two days a week I'm going to do the above workout plus elliptical intervals. On the other two days a week I'm going to do my jump squats, planks, and leg lifts. It will be tough this coming week since I'll be out of town Wednesday through Thursday, but I'm going to find a way to manage! Thank you guys for thinking about me. I'm back. I'm not jumping ship, and I'm here. If you do not hear from me, if you do not see a post from me within 2 days message me to kick my ass back in gear. Because I am going to complete this challenge!!!!!
  17. Ditto! I really like spaghetti squash now
  18. Good morning all! It's day one, and time to start. Here is the plan: I'm going to start by working out today to see where I am at. Here is what I'm going to do: Warm up (jumping (don't have a rope), punches, kicks, lunges, etc) Planks and jump squats in alternating sets Cool Down It's pretty simple. I decided to break up components of the AB work out into two separate work outs, and this is the first one. I'm going to see how far I can go, and I'll report back to you as soon as I do it tonight! On a side note, tomorrow I have to tutor at risk youth (16-22) how to write essays and how to do poetry. I'm a bit nervous since it will be my first time teaching (I was a tutor for college kids in the past). Any advice or creative ideas?
  19. Hello everyone! I have returned My name is Minx34, and right now I'm pursuing a Masters in public health focusing on health education. My biggest focus of this challenge is making exercise a habit, improving my jump squats, and weight lost. My highest weight was 218 and in the long term I wish to get to a place where I feel strong, in control of my body, and confident enough in my health to promote the health of others. My challenge thread is here if you want to follow me! : http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/39287-minx34s-under-200lbs-challenge-challenge-3/#entry763390 Welcome new people, and hello again to the fanatic veterans that I know and love
  20. Too many awesone quotes to post. I love you all and I love this community!! I now can't wait to start!!!
  21. Thank you! I want to get under so bad I can taste it. Hopefully I won't let sleepiness, laziness, or the temptation of junk food get in my way!
  22. Hello my fellow rebels! I finally completed a second challenge, and am on to my third, which is spectacular (huzzah!). My main goal is to make fitness a habit. I was doing fine when I started in August, but somewhere between classes and work last month I lost my way. Ultimately with this challenge I want to get one step closer to making working out and eating right second nature. I'd love for you to join my journey and see the progress I am trying to achieve on the way Here is my Main Quest: Get fit enough to be able to wear a size 12. I want to feel more comfy in my body, have more control of my muscles, and get fashionable while I'm at it My challenge goals are a little different this time. Last challenge I focused on doing a specific number of tasks a week, which was tough because whenever I missed something and couldn't adjust I felt down or lost focus. This time around my goals are overarching bars that I want to pass by the end: 1) 100 jump squats in two sets STR:3 STA: 2. My PB is 70 in three sets. Time to bring it to the next level A= 100+ in two sets | B=100 in three sets | C=100 in four sets | D=100 in 5 sets | F= >100 in 5 sets 2) Reach 195 lb. or less CHA: 3 STA: 1 Con: 1. This goal is particularly important, because I haven't been under 200 lb. in the longest time, since freshman year of college. By the time sophomore year ended I was 204 lb.. My highest weight was 218 lb., and most of the time I've been between 213 and 207. I weighed myself today I and now after focusing on eating better and working out (though I haven't worked out in 3 weeks), I am at 201.8 lb. with clothes on, the best weight I've been since sophomore year. My goal is to get under 200 lb., and to never see 200+ lb. ever again. A= 195 lb. or lower | B=196 lb. | C=197 lb. | D=198 lb. | F=199+ lb. 3 )Do an elliptical interval set of 25 minutes or more STA: 3. I haven't done Elliptical Intervals for a while, so I know I need some work. Typically I do 15-20 minutes of intervals on the elliptical. But I want to be able to do more. So 25 minutes is my goal A= 25+ minutes | B= 24 minutes | C= 23 minutes | D= 22 minutes | F= 21 or less minutes Lastly, here is my Life Quest: Save at least $500 into a separate savings account. WIS: 2. I have to start saving for summer school ($3000), in addition to a wedding since my boyfriend and I have been talking about it and I want to be prepared. So this will be my first step. A= $500+ | B= $499-$450 | C= $449-$400 | D= $399-$350 | F= $350 or less I think that about sums it! Let's get started
  23. Hey all! I just reearthed and revived from finals, which were two weeks ago. Started my first week of new classes this week. These 8 week terms along with my job are no joke :-/ But I'm glad I finished my challenge! The results may not have been in flying colors, but I'm glad that I stuck through it and reported it all in the end. I think for my next challenge I'm going to work on both time management to get everything done in my busy schedule, and maybe breaking workouts apart a little to make them more reasonable at the end of the day. I just skimmed a bit of what's been going on. I've missed you guys a lot, and congrats on finishing!
  24. :-O Congrats!!! That is so fantastic!
