  1. Way to go Darth! Down to 5 as an allowance. If you are the competitive type, see if you can keep it under your allowance. Turn it into a game if you have to. Also, that is awesome that you found swimming makes you too exhausted to want to smoke. It's your lungs saying "We have a hard enough time getting oxygen right now, don't mess with us please." and that is actually really humbling that you have that quote in your office. Glad it helped though. Best of luck, wait, you don't need luck, because you are awesome for quitting.
  2. Howdy TAP, and welcome to the Rebellion! Are you planning on following any particular diet style? Or just the old 'burn more then I eat' method?
  3. Howdy Patricia, and welcome to the Rebellion! Is there any particular workout routine/diet you follow?
  4. Howdy SL, and welcome to the Rebellion! I summon a being from your most hated nightmares: THAC0 charts!
  5. Howdy Baker, and Welcome to the Rebellion. Look forward to seeing you in the Challenge.
  6. Name: Plex. Also, I will respond to Insanity. Brief overview of goals: 1. Hit gym 4+ times a week. Do outside activity 1+ time a week. (Eg. Helping a buddy of mine landscape, redo driveways, hiking, parkour, running outside, etc...) 2. Post for my squad and such this challenge (moving is not an excuse!) 3. Keep running and eventually try to get down to a sub 6m mile 4. 1 ketagenic paleo week in there for fun because I hate myself. 5. To quote : Life Goal: I suck at these. Lemme think about it. 6. Invent new paleo recipe involving almond meal. If you follow a specific way of eating: Paleo + dairy (usually heavy cream/butter/whey protein. Eggs ARE paleo) Any other piece of information you think would be useful for team creation: I constantly crave variety in my workouts at this point. I don't think I have done the same thing for more then a month or two. I also am mildly interested in the Spezzy squad, but I can do without. If you want to be part of a team or if you want to work alone: Team and DIE ZOMBIE DIE
  7. This is one of the harder steps. Having the craving and waiting for it to go away. Reformed smoker myself, smoked about half a pack for about 6 years or so. When I quit, I found that cardio destroyed my cravings. I already felt ill from destroying myself on the machines when I first started out, I couldn't possibly think of having a cigarette. It also helps that when I got the car, I was literally too tired to achieve the effort for smoking. I also found that your accountability idea worked *really* well. Telling all my friends I quit and hearing the congratulations pretty much made me not want to go back because I didn't want to disappoint them or myself. To this day, I keep a half pack of cigarettes with a lighter in my room on my dresser. Every morning I look at it, say 'Nope', and move on with my day. I am also a masochist. Remember, it CAN be done. Every day you are constantly proving to both yourself and world, you are BETTER then these cigarettes. Good luck with your quitting, Darth. May the force be with you.
  8. So I was experiementing with my mad chefery in the kitchen and I wound up with this. It works out pretty well. Ingredients: Heavy whipping cream Cocoa powder (just pure, no sugar or anything else) Strawberries Blueberries Blackberries Pure Honey (optional) 1) Chop up berry things (or other fruit) until they are about the size of a blueberry to half a blueberry 2) Get mixing bowl. Put in heavy cream and cocoa powder in a ratio of about 3 hc to 1 cp. Mix, should be fairly thick, but still pourable. 3) Depending on sweetness level desired, add honey to taste. I usually find about half to a quarter of what I put in for cocoa powder tends to work, but some people may enjoy sweeter. 4) Mix in fruit. Should still be pourable, but thick-ish. 5) Get empty ice cube tray. Pour in ice cube tray. 6) Generally, at this point, I make a slightly more liquid version of the heavy cream to cocoa powder (no honey) to fill in the gaps in the ice cube tray to make sure they come out like ice cubes. 7) Freeze for about 3 hours 8) Enjoy! Word to the wise, they melt quick ish, so enjoy quickly! However, even in re-freezing in crazy lumps, they are still good to eat, just not as pretty. Stay tuned for my forays into white chocolate next.
  9. Moose-kills? What, are we Palin' around now? Jokery and mockery aside, great job CCN.
  10. That is outstanding! Good job!
  11. Howdy Cech, and welcome to the Rebellion! What are your goals as it relates to fitness and nerdery?
  12. Howdy Firebrand, and welcome to the Rebellion! Wow can be incredibly detrimental toward anything non-Wow related. Trust me, as a former addict I have been there. Depending on your end game goals, you can usually fit in push ups, squats or dips in between wipes, waiting for buffs, or waiting for people to run back.
  13. Howdy Citabean, and welcome to the Rebellion! Seems like you are headed in the right direction. Ditto on what CB said about picking up a copy. Definitely tell us how it goes. You might be the deciding factor on if I pick it up or not.
  14. Howdy Jotunheim, and welcome to the Rebellion! A) Paleo is amazinnnnnnnnnnng. Spezzy, Clawed, and I (among others) love the crap out of it. Give it a week or so for your taste buds to re adjust. Do you swear allegiance to King Thrym ?
  15. Howdy MR, and welcome to the Rebellion! That's awesome that you are singing in front of people. Takes a lot of willpower and dedication to get there. Universities are great places for parkour as they tend to have a lot of the railings and stone and steps and things. Keeping meticulous notes of times, reps, and dates will help your competitive edge against yourself and also allow you to track your progress.
  16. Howdy Silverback, and welcome to the Rebellion! A) Is your name gorilla related? The next challenge is the 11th of April C) It's a set of personal goals that deal with both fitness and life goals. The point being to complete and/or blow past all of them (damn you sub7 mile being deceptively easy) D) Live long and prosper.
  17. Howdy Liz, and welcome to the Rebellion! @ArmyMBM: Woop woop Magic 8 ball ! Sorry, had to be done. In any case, those sound like a great goals centered around functional fitness. Absolutely nothing wrong push ups, squats, running, and biking. Do you know your baselines yet?
  18. Howdy Lee, and welcome to the rebellion! What's your Otaku obsession?
  19. Howdy HAB, and welcome back! There should be a challenge coming up if you are looking to amp yourself up. Also, even though you have hit a weight loss plateau, are you still losing inches?
  20. Howdy there Jax, Well done at starting off exercising. For a lot of people its that first step. And @Clawed_Bear: Paleo is Amaaaaazing.....
  21. *shuffles in* Hi all. I apologize for the interruption in plex-related services, updates, and general encouragement. I was informed around the 26th or so, that I was moving to a new place as my roommates had bought a house and were leaving. So I kind of needed to spend about the last 5 days in March packing, finding a new place, and cleaning the CRAP out of the apartment. All of this while working 40 hours a week and trying to find about 5 hours a week to be social so I didn't lose my mind. I then spent about 4 days in April unpacking and just getting settled. Unfortunetly, all of this meant that A) I was without internet for a while The gym suffered (as in none for like a week and a half) C) The diet suffered (no cooking ware as it was packed or no time to cook, take your pick) BUT, A) I have internet (Obviously...) Just went to the gym tonight for a glorious 3.5 hour workout where I did a little bit of EVERYTHING C) Diet has been back on since the 2nd. And Paleo+dairy is AMAZING once again. In other news, spring has apparently been skipped in my area and we are proceeding directly toward deathly-hot-omg-hate-sweat-humidty-summer. In any case, I missed you all terribly and I look forward once again to being active. P.S. I especially want to apologize to my squad for the challenge. I kind of left them with only a very brief message. You guys rule and I know you did well without me.
  22. Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been around to encourage you all. I got informed sometime early this weekend that I had to be packed and ready to move by this friday for moving this weekend. So a lot of things (ie gym) have gotten put on hold as I kind of frantically clean my life up. However, I did hit one of my monthly goals as part of this clean up, which is deal with car situation. It is all taken care of now. Got new (to me) car, old one is junked, tags turned in, insurance switched over etc. So I guess that's a push in the right direction? I will be trying to hit the gym this week, but frankly between work and packing, its not a priority. Woop woop magic 8 ball! *shake shake* Outlook: Busy as a bee.
  23. Great job! I wish I could run long distances, as of right now, 1 mile is a long distance bit for me.
  24. Calcium pills. make sure you do not take them with iron though, they bind together and become inert.
