  1. Update #2 Goals 1 @ 2: Wearing my "pray for Lincoln" bracelet is a great reminder. Goal #3: Attended my first beginners class yesterday at CrossFit South Metro! Completed another item on my epic quest. Someone go tell Louie.
  2. Sounds like an assassin. What goals do you have for fixing this? What do you write? Welcome to NF.
  3. Transformational yoga experience. Thank you, Heather.

    1. Ba'sini'on

      Ba'sini'on

When I read that I thought, Transformers robots in disguise! What'd you transform into?

  4. Great goals. I've never heard of "six pack shortcut" before. What's it like?
  5. Update: Goal #1: I knew this would be tough to count, so I am appealing to all the nerds out there to come up with a way for me to track the number of people I make eye contact with during the day. Goal #2: I am going to wear a rubber bracelet to remind me to keep my head up. Goal #3: 3 workouts already completed this week. Did Jackie yesterday (hmmm...maybe should reword that). I completed the named workout Jackie yesterday after some heavy dumbbell presses. The row was the worst part for me. Life goal: There might be a job change in the future (I should find out today). If I do change jobs, I'll be on conserve resource mode and will not be joining a CrossFit gym. Awesome video reminder of my main quest:
  6. Just got FF #6-9 from the library. Batman Year Zero is uberbat-tastic. Hawkeye doesn't disappoint. Dark Avengers circa 2009. If you haven't, read "I Kill Giants" by Joe Kelly. If you have, reread it. And listen to the Talking Comics podcast.
  7. Soccer game tonight and then pot roast, sweet potatoes, and corn on the cob. Summer love.

  8. Your bucket list inspired me to add a few items to mine. Great list. And good luck on the six-week challenge.
  9. Main Quest: The person I love the most told me I don't look at people when I'm talking to them. At some level, I am aware of this, and over the next six weeks I'm going to learn that looking people in the eye will not turn me into a stone statue. Goal #1: Seven times a day, make a conscience effort to look a unique individual in the eye. CHA 4 Goal #2: Three times a day, remind myself to walk with my head held high CHA 1 DEX 3 Goal #3: Continue exercising four days a week STR 3 CON 2 Life Goal: Join a CrossFit gym WIS 2
  10. Nivek

    Nivek and Hamlet

Wait.. The challenge is over? Where was I? Oh, that's right. Europe. Well, here are my results and subsequent ability score raises. Goal #1. Meditate. I had 13 sessions all of which I hated and found somewhat useful at the same time. Still an F Goal #2. Read. Finishes the book. A Goal #3. 15 pull ups 50 push ups. Hit both numbers on the nose. Woot. A Final results Wisdom 3 Strength 2 Charisma 2 Stamina 1 Dexterity 1 Nivek the level two Bavarian Ranger
  11. Haven't been home for a while. Trying to keep in shape while traveling and attending conferences was tough but doable. No excuses, right? Finally home and did 15 dead hang pull ups today. That beats my record by 2 and gives me an A grade for one of my goals in the last challenge. For all you out there with the goal of doing one pull up, let me tell you that was me. It's a great goal. You can accomplish it. It will take time and effort and especially consistency. Then you'll get it and want to do two. You'll get that too. And sooner than you would have thought. Then you'll do five and feel like you can do anything. And you know what? You're right. Thank's. Nerd Fitness, and thank you Steve for this incredible website. Tomorrow, I'll see how many push ups I can do. Nivek the Bavarian Ranger
  12. Humor Dungeon Crawl: Order of the Stick. Competitive Game with Wife: Carcassonne. Party game: Say Anything
  13. Dave needs a bump on these forums. To summarize: *Create a budget that spends less each month than you make (I know, shocking, right!). Whiny person: "I don't make enough money at my job to pay for my food, and apartment and clothes for the kids, and my cell phone, and commemorative QVC Patrick Swayze plate collection. I need credit cards to pay for the things that I ne-ne-ne-neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed." Ultron-Dave smashes QVC Patrick Swayze plate collection: "Now you won't have to buy the rest of those. I just saved you $20 a month. Now let's talk about getting a second job. I hear Wal-Mart is always hiring." *Don't use credit cards (http://helpwithbills.org/?p=1628) pretty simple, people spend more when using credit cards. Spend more equals have less money. *Pay off smallest debt first (reaching a goal gives an endorphin boost making subsequent goal achievement more likely) Sounds a lot like Nerd Fitness. *Don't be lazy. Keep track of how much you spend with gazelle-like intensity. Because the world is a lion that wants to eat your finances. Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! RUUUUUUUUNNNNNNN! Get after it.
  14. Ranger Nivek reports feeling different this week. The experience that comes with four and a half weeks of adventuring, while not enough to bring him to level two yet, surely has had an impact. The dungeons he enters are deeper. The monsters stronger. The dangers more damaging to his corporeal state. Recently, Nivek heard of a lost totem buried deep in an abandoned salt mine. When he went into the mine to retrieve the artifact, he realized that some nefarious soul had booby trapped the path. It took all Nivek's skills just to make it back to the surface alive. He didn't reach his goal, but every failure teaches a lesson. 20 min. AMRAP Thrusters @ 85# Burpees Pull ups Reps = 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4 thrusters In order to get the treasure, Nivek needed to finish the reps. Time ran out and so did his body. Maybe later he'll revisit this dungeon.
