  1. I think you're best off not worrying about it - focus on having a good time, drink tonnes of water before bed, get up early, have a cold shower and get straight back into your paleo lifestyle. Personally, if I don't have time to unwind, I start to regress to a more unhealthy lifestyle anyway. Having a bad night can give you a lot of motivation to keep up the good life.

    Steaks!

Got some big fat juicy rib-eye steaks to rustle up tonight. Anyone have any sauces or sides they can recommend? Any tips with the steak? AAAH cant wait.
  3. Hahaa! looks sick, very jealous.
  4. Every year since I was about 7 I have a Pokemon phase. Think this thread might kick it off again q:D.
  5. Agreed, people generally need to see results before they are persuaded.
  6. Haha, yeah, basically I need to stop being such a pig on the weekend. I find a lot of it is just trial and error, I've only been at this four weeks and I'm figuring out what seems to work and what doesn't. I find that nuts, seeds and dried fruit are good for an energy boost, as is a spoonful of coconut oil in the morning (i think it was Tim Ferris who recommended that, it seems to work). Also wheat grass powder and veg juices. Thanks for all the advice, appreciated.
  7. I know what you mean, up until about Wednesday night I crave junk, but after that I feel awesome and don't like the idea of eating or drinking anything bad. I can feel that mentality developing more and more, especially when I have a week like this where I feel crap. Because I have given myself weekends "off" I sort of force myself to eat a bit of junk in a way - just cause I can. Also, the activities I enjoy in my leisure time on the weekend generally mess with my diet, i.e. drinking and eating out, or even just having a movie night (just isn't the same for me without snacks and/or pizza).
  8. Thanks for the reply. During the week I'll eat eggs / bacon / any protein for breakfast, usually a salad with fish or meat for dinner and then fish / meat with veg, maybe some sweet potato mash. Between meals I'll snack on nuts seeds and dried fruit, fruit (mostly bananas) and maybe some home made tomato soups. This weekend however! I binged out on many many chocolate bars, a take away, lots of cups of tea (I am english, afterall), and biscuits. My main meals were still pretty healthy however. The weekend before, I still ate chocolate, some bread, cheeses and a few bags of crisp but it didn't seem to affect me the following week - I still had bags of energy. Do you think my over-indulgent weekend was to blame for my lack of energy this week then? I thought (without much basis ) that once my body was 'paleofied' my energy levels would not drop so low unless I completely reversed the process.
  9. Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has a bit of insight into this... For my diet at the moment, I'll eat strictly paleo monday to friday evening, and after that it's anything goes. My reason for this is because I don't feel I can keep up the strict diet without something to look forward to at the weekend. I've been doing this for about 4 weeks. By the third week I had more energy (after being absolutely shattered for the first week) and the process seemed to be working, but after a particularly heavy binge over the weekend, I've been tired again since Monday. Presumably my body had become fat-adapted and I've just partially reversed the effects? Anyone got any thoughts? Is it a bad idea to have a break or should I just take it easier on the weekend? Cheers!
  10. Yeah, if there is room I will try to take a cooler bag and brave some cucumbers (yuck :]) I've not been paleo for too long, but either way I'm happy to have a break - it's just that usually means descending into eating a lot of crap that will probably affect my experience. And yeah I hadn't considered that - I guess if I buy some of the pre-made fish salads and package up some nut and dried fruit combinations I might be okay! Had a look into the energy bars - they would be perfect but I don't have the equipment or skill to make them. If i take all the ingredients to snack on though should be okay. If only I wasn't so greedy :[ Thanks so much for the suggestions, appreciated.

    Camping

Hey all, I'm going to Slovenia for a music festival- it's 5 nights, camping and probably about 30 degree Celsius heat. Generally whenever I camp I'll take crisp, chocolate, cereal bars etc to keep me going. However! Since eating paleo and watching my diet more, I've become a lot more conscious of how these foods will make me feel. Alcohol, sugary, carby foods, and high heat obviously isn't a good mix and I know if I take all these type of foods I'll just become crap. My question is, does anybody have any advice for what I can take + how I can maintain a good level of energy? I'm not worried about eating purely paleo, but I do want to stay away from anything that will slow me down. I intend with regards to alcohol to stay away from lagers and anything heavy, but with regards to foods to take I'm not so sure. I've noticed a lot of shops sell pre-packaged tuna/salmon salad meals that don't need to be refrigerated? (Do these stay okay in high heat?) Also, if anyone knows of any sort of vitamin type things, tablets, powders etc that can help? For example, I find that wheatgrass is good for energy. I guess it gets easier if I have a camping stove or a disposable bbq but I'm not sure if I will have either of these. Anyone had to do anything similar or have any ideas? I know there's a lot there but any help at all is hugely appreciated. Cheers in advance!
  12. Same here with Civ 5. They're the only games in the world I think I can never get bored of. Also currently revisiting the Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time for the 1000th time.
  13. Glad you have posted this, I started eating purely paleo 4 days ago and I've felt utterly drained ever since. Also a huuuuuuuuuuuuge craving for some junk.
  14. Haha, yeah thanks for the advice, a lot of the running stores around here analyse and assess your technique for free, so I think i'm gonna pop into one of them and see what they say. It sounds very similar, I think all the muscles in my legs are weak. I have no idea why as I do work on them (whenever I get into the habit of working out) and I do enough exercise, but when trying stuff like squats and lunges my endurance is pretty bad. I'll have a look at the compression socks, worth giving it ago. I received a video about this problem that seems helpful, I think it's definitely worth checking out if anyone is having a similar problem to this. It focuses on specifically shin splints, but I think the exercises would probably benefit anyone with lower leg pain in general. Again, thanks for the help guys.
  15. Hey thanks for the reply, I run in Asics, and when I run I think I put more pressure on the front of my toes, so presumably that's forefoot. Yeah I had a look at shin splints, it does fit quite well, only my pain is specifically on the outside and even slightly back of my leg. I'm not sure if that matters, but I think I'll probably put some of the remedies for shin splints into action anyway to see if it helps.
  16. Hey Ghost, I've been learning for about a year teaching myself, and I'd say it is a difficult process. You should definitely learn- the end result is that you may be able to play live, and I'd imagine that's a huge buzz. I would definitely recommend taking lessons - when you start out it's extremely difficult to maintain motivation when you take about 6 seconds to change your fingers into the next chord position, and then that sounds awful cause your guitar isn't tuned. However! it is possible. If your more disciplined than I am and less likely to get disheartened it's possible. The guy at justinguitar as garthgreen stated is in my opinion the way to go. He makes things a lot easier and gives you structure so you know where you're aiming. Keep reminding yourself also, that it ain't easy but with practise and focus it will definitely come.
  17. Hey all, Hoping to gain some insight into a problem I suffer when running. I exercise quite regularly and am in quite good shape, but when I run, after about 5 minutes I suffer a pain to my lower leg. That is, on both legs, towards the bottom of the leg on the outside. If I push through this pain, I literally can barely walk when I stop. Really frustrating because aerobically I know I can do much greater distances. Is this something to do with my warmup? Does the muscle just generally need loosening? Any help would be massively appreciated! Cheers guys.
  18. Hello to everyone! Just saying hey before I start posting. Here are my vitals. I've lived a dedicated life to the virtual world of video games. I mean it's mostly the same games to this day too, and I love my favorites immensely - The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of time (clinching number one), Goldeneye, Mario kart & MK64 (anything N64 actually..), old sonic games on the megadrive, Duke Nukem, Jedi Knight 2, Quake 3 all on the PC, I could go on and on. If I've missed a key player here I'm gonna be inconsolable.. My two films gotta be Shawshank and Scarface. (Aside from LOTR but thats got its own category) My other two main passions are Dragonball Z and LOTR. I think (dream) I'm a nice mix of Goku and Aragorn. I've also devoted too much time to gaining knowledge of the song of ice and fire world, and previous to that, hogwarts. As for fitness credentials, I do stay in pretty decent shape. I play a lot of sport and keep active. I drift in and out of phases of eating huge amounts of junk and drinking lots of alcohol to eating strictly and committing to a 4x weekly workout. I hope by maintaing a regular presence here I can retain my motivation to a greater degree. As for life, I just left university in the UK and trying to make money online. If you read this, I appreciate it! Nice to meet you! Oh yeah Starwars. How the hell did I forget Starwars? These things happen..
