  1. Sounds like you're doing well! Ugh I've got no wisdom to share, but keep getting it.
  2. Okay start of week 3! 1. Took the running inside and did 3 miles in 17 minutes on the elliptical! This is the furthest I've ever done on it. I used to stop at 6-10 laps. Did this run with 30 second intervals of burst running and then 1 minute regular pace. I'm counting this as successful! 2. Pushed and did my workouts both Monday and today! 3. Looking good for home cooking. Made some yummy spaghetti with grilled chicken and mushrooms last night and we'll have chicken masala tonight! EDIT: I didn't get off till pretty late yesterday so it was Red Robin.. not the best. This part of the challenge is really killing me. 4. About halfway through The Blue Fox and I made my next book purchase. The Tigers Wife! Might do a Sookie Stackhouse before that though since I'll be on vacation and don't want anything heavy.
  3. About a month on this program. I've been kind of working out for a year but like 2 days a week and this program is 6. I've dropped 14 pounds since I've switched so I guess I should be happy about that but it's frustrating to get stuck.
  4. That sounds really yummy! What do you have with it?
  5. I'm going to be reading The Blue Fox. It's a really short book that's supposed to be kind of fable like by this Norwegian (?) writer. It's so short I don't know that I'll count it as a book but maybe I'll give myself a .5 for going above. lol After that I'd like something more mystery like I think. Maybe The Shinning Girls?
  6. Omg I'm sorry about your friend. It's been going okay over here.. not alot of visual progress but I think I'm getting more stamina.
  7. Well I'm also standing still on my waist measurements. I'm trying not to dwell too long on it but it's such a good motivator when I see number moving down. My goal is 170 so I think I'm just getting impatient. Just to clarify I'm not expecting to get there this challenge it's just my eventual goal.
  8. Okay so I've got a question for you guys. I've been working out almost every morning (5-6 days a week) for around 40-60+ minutes. I've also been doing the body by vi shakes for two meals a day with some light snacking and (what I think) is a reasonable dinner. But here's the problem, I keep plateauing. Before the challenge I was stuck at 195 for like two weeks and then after we started the challenge I quickly dropped to 190 but here I am still. If anyone has any insights into how to stop getting stuck I'd love to hear it. Here's a link to my fitness pal in case that helps. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/aidenpouge
  9. Thanks Nicks! I just finished my book last night so I guess I've got to find another one now. I feel like maybe I'm using my outdoor goals as a scapegoat to not work that part of the challenge so I'm moving the training indoors.
  10. Alright start of week two! I'm feeling alot better about the challenge, new week= renewed strength to get after it. 1. So this week I'm going to run the trail at least once and do one indoor session for the same distance. 2. I pushed myself to get up early this morning and did both of the workouts I had scheduled. Kind of a long one today, over an hour, but I feel great now that I've done it so I'll just have to remember this feeling for tomorrow morning. 3. Restocked my fridge so I'm all set up to succeed with this weeks cooking. 4. Got about 20 pages left in my book!
  11. Day 6, I need to reroll my constitution. 1. Still raining and terrible outside. So no progress on the running. I'm going to be moving these workouts to the gym next week till it clears up. 2. I've definitely been dragging my ass in the morning which has led to me skipping my morning workout twice. However I did make up for it in the evening but moving forward I really need to work on that. So far (if I do my workout tonight) I'm 5/6. 3. I've been cooking dinner except for that one slip up this week. Otherwise I'm doing okay. 4. Still reading the same book and it's hard to put down. This has led to some late nights which I think accounts for me not wanting to get up in the morning for workouts. This is something else I'll have to adjust. No reading past 12:30. So to surmise there's still alot of room for improvement but I do think I've made decent headway so far.
  12. Sounds like you're really keeping on track. I need to start drinking more water too. Maybe I'll just hang out in your thread more and your good habits will rub off on me too.
  13. I know right, gotta exercise my tear ducts too. XD Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to have a support group for this.
  14. I play 3.5 and I really enjoy it. It's very user friendly.
  15. Jealous! That really sounds like fun. I want to do one but I'm deff not in shape for it yet so one of my goals this time is to build up to running.
  16. Feeling good so far!

  17. Hey I just joined your group today! I'm also trying to run for my challenge so maybe we can get some inspiration from each other.
  18. I second this for sure. I don't know what you're into but I can recommend tons of different stuff. Are you the adventurous type or do you like books on different cultures?
  19. I am completely a Ravenclaw. And since one of my challenge goals is to read more this is the house for me! Glad to be joining you guys.
  20. Soccer is a good substitute! I don't know about you but I'm much more inclined to push myself during an activity or game than at the gym. Have you guys tried paintball or airsoft? I really enjoy that and it's a good cardio workout too. Not getting hit is a great incentive. And thank you I've been trying! I'm just hoping I don't fall into the trap I usually do which is starting out strong and then losing my momentum as I go on. I really think this community is really helping me feel accountable though.
  21. Love the way you're writing this. Good luck in your training!
  22. Day 3! I'm feeling pretty good I'm down 4 pounds and 1/2 inch since I've written my goals so victory there! 1. Still raining/ flash flooding so there's that. 2. Worked out again yesterday but flipped the morning for afternoon. Didn't feel as good throughout the day but at least I'm still 3/3. 3. Ate at Chick-Fil-A so fail there. Did manage to keep in my calorie goals though. 4. More than halfway through the book and as predicted it's been making me tear up.
