  1. Thusfar: A Progress Report on Day Twenty-Eight! Fitness Goals 2. There was meant to be another cardio lifting class today, but the instructor never showed. So I just did my own lifting program with my upped weights. I am now also the proud owner of an La Fitness membership. 3. No pushups today. Muaw ha ha ha! Diet Goal 1. Not even pseudo-peanut butter today. Life Goal 1. Staying up to watch the Oscars.
  2. Welcome Kate! There's a whole slew of people here, with all sorts of different goals for their health, so your fitness aims will fit right in. And you should never be ashamed of loving the Bamber. He's adorable.
  3. Welcome Wilson! I say exploit that corporate wellness program as much as possible. I think those are a great help to people who want to get healthy. Although, I must say that all the Rebels are an even greater help. So it's a good thing you crossed over to the non-lurker side.
  4. Aaaaaand Scotland loses again. lol Oh well.
  5. Fogo De Chao Or any other Brazilian steak house really. It's a giant salad bar and hunks of roasted meat. You can't go wrong. (Although, it's not anywhere near cheap. So it might be more of a celebration-type dinner.)
  6. Thusfar: A Progress Report on Day Twenty-Seven Fitness Goals 2. Nice long morning in the gym on my guest pass. I didn't do any of my own strength training because I was busy sampling the class offerings. There was a serious wackadoo in the yoga class I took, so that was amusing, although a little awkward as I made every effort to avoid catching her eye in the mirror lest she want to start talking to me. I felt kinda bad for the instructor girl because nutso parked her mat right in the front and proceeded to talk about how she pays too much money or something. 3. Five proper pushups with better range of motion, pt. 2. Diet Goal 1. Now, technically the protein bar I had yesterday was peanut butter flavored. However, since no actual peanut butter went into it, and it tastes nothing like anything resembling peanut butter, I do not think this counts as a PBM attack. Life Goal 1. In bed early and slept wellish. Something's got to be done about this bed though.

  9. lol It does mess with the British inferiority complex doesn't it? (Even though you owned most of the world at one point.) Don't worry... they may screw it up at the last and then you can enjoy rugby like all the really awesome people. I don't like that either. France is just too good to not be worried about.

  11. We all slip sometimes, especially when the world makes it so achingly easy for us to just grab those yummy but terrible for us things that trigger overeating. I'm proud of you for accepting the slip and moving forward. When you stumble you can't just lay on the floor and cry, you've got to get up, dust off, have a chuckle at your faults, and keep walking. So very well done for doing that! P.S. Where do you work?? lol What a nice company! (Even if it makes your life more difficult at this point, it's still a super cool thing for them to do for their employees. Because I assume if somebody wanted a healthy catered lunch they'd do that too.)

  14. Thusfar: A Progress Report on Day Twenty-Six (Holy crap is it seriously Day Twenty-Six?) Fitness Goals 2. Tried out one of the two La Fitness' that are nearish to my brother's house. (And in my head I keep calling it La Fitness rather than L.A. Fitness. lol) It was really nice. Bright and open and new and super clean. I love me some clean. They have an area that has exactly what I need in it: BOSU, ball, hand weights, mirror, and (very importantly) room to move! I took the cardio lifting class the offered and it was fun. I think La Fitness may be the place for me. 3. Five proper pushups with better range of motion, bit of a twinge in the back though, so I didn't try for more. Diet Goal 1. Being in a house without any trace of PBM means that I am virtually free from her grasp. The occasional wayward thought is easily ignored. Life Goal 1. Trying to adjust to the new schedule. Right now it's been in bed around 11ish and up at 5am. Which doesn't actually give me that much sleep. So last night I tried to go to bed earlier but ended up awake and desperate to pee at 3am. lol Stupid bladder. Somehow, when I'm feeling all tired and shitty and so done dealing with my brother's wife, I completely forget how great I feel after I've worked out. I went into the gym tonight because I was a woman on a mission, not because I wanted to go, and I was so tired and annoyed with everything. I left giggling and dancing in the car to Rhianna's new single. Working out is the best stress relief ever. Even better than sex. Because sex has it's own set of issues and anxieties and complications because you have to deal with another person. Working out is just you and your body doing something great for your health. Awesome. I needed to write that down so I'll have it to refer back to when I'm making excuses about how tired and icky I feel.

  17. Honorary squaddie werwolf checking in: I'm still having issues with settling into the new job and schedule and place of abode. But I'll be getting a free pass to one of the local LA Fitness branches and doing another weekend of marathon gym sessions to hopefully make up, at least a little bit, for the lack of workouts during the week. This isn't the way I'd like to do it, but it'll have to work for now until I can figure things out.
  18. Oh Low I'm sorry to hear about your financial trouble. I've been there myself and it is sucktacular beyond belief. (I was once too poor to shop at Lidl.) I am very proud of you though that you're still going to go on with your workouts. I'm going to make you my inspiration in that area and get my big bum up and out the door. We'll be far-less-than-ideal-situation-workout-buddies.

I really think that the cardio lifting class I did should count as a strength training day, because holy crap am I sore! lol Luckily today was streching and yoga so I am feeling all kinds of bendy and nice. Super sad that I won't get to go back to my gym though. And, to add injury to injury, I can't join the stupid YMCA because they define 'family' as parents and children and not siblings, even if they live in the same house. So because it would be an annual contract plus a membership fee (and we don't know how long I'll be here) it would be cost prohibitive to join. So now I'm down to Planet Fitness or Curves, neither of which strikes my fancy in the slightest. The only other option would be to go a little further away and try out LA Fitness. Ugh. It looks like this week it'll be walks around the neighborhood until I can weigh out all the options. But, something is better than nothing, right? 3. No pushups, just downward dogs. Diet Goal 1. Didn't give in to either PBM or that giant box of cupcakes still sitting on the counter. Life Goal 1. I miss my TN bed already. But hopefully I'll sleep ok tonight because I'll be on my own in the office tomorrow. The sister-in-law, who is also the person responsible to train me and set up all my desky stuff (like email access and a laptop), won't be coming to work because she has a dentist appointment to go to in the middle of the day. So she'll be working from home and I'll be working at her desk trying to look busy. I'll also be driving my parents' car to work, which had the 'change oil' light come on while I was driving down here today. There was something else I was going to ramble about, but now I've forgotten it. Ah well. You're probably better off as it was most likely me complaining about something else.

  22. I know virtually NOTHING about any kind of football, but I do know that scoring a goal is a massive deal... so well done you!! Do you have a celebration thing that you do? Pull the shirt over the head or some such? Nice job getting up early too. I know how hard it is to not ignore your alarm clock, so good on you.
