  1. So in! Thanks for the links, Chanda!
  2. No problemo! Love the stuff. Spent a lot of time out on the back porch in the sun today putting together my dad's Father's Day grill and came in to cool off with a bottle of the booch. Gotta love it!
  3. Haha, all they had was black! We were lucky in that out of the four or five they had left, two of them both fit us perfectly.
  4. Congrats are due to you and your son! My younger brother graduates soon as well. It is odd enough to think of him as old enough, I can't imagine what I'll feel like when my own children are graduating. In any case, it sounds like a good reason to let things slide, temporarily.
  5. Just got back from a walk with my brother. We both wore our new shoes out on the walk. It was relaxing, centering, and a great way to catch up with him!
  6. I do! I love going barefoot for walks and such, but if I'm going to be pushing my feet down into the ground with all of my bodyweight (read: way too fucking much) then I like to have something there to protect it. I was worried about my feet being too large (size 14, not sure about the european sizing) but because they have to be so snug, I'm actually not in their biggest size. Such a treat considering how hard it is for me to find shoes normally.
  7. I've read through some Matt Stone stuff recently and he makes it a point to count the water content in the foods you eat, too. The veggies and fruits and other drinks that you drink, are they high water-content foods?
  8. Great to hear! I'm glad you're having fun with the little ones, I know they're loving a boost in mommy time, haha.
  9. That's what I said. In the middle of the store. Much to the dismay of the older man looking for a pair of hiking boots.
  10. I cap my bottles with something like this and these. As for the juice, I just pick up a bottle of the organic stuff from a co-op or Whole Foods. Just looking for juice without any additives. Burping is the process of opening your fermentation vessel and allowing built up pressure to escape. The problem is that that also releases the built up "fizzyness" in your booch. I'd be so happy to set something up for you, if you'll compensate gas, plane, or train!
  11. Yes yes yes!!! With all the money you save not buying junky foods you are able to buy some nicer quality stuff! If you go to the good butcher, ask about bones. Bone broth is great for you and really easy to make!
  12. While I was off at college, one of my friend's housemates (who eventually became a friend) had dogs that she would let me walk. Great dane, pit bull, and an Australian shepherd made for interesting walks - never at the same time, I valued my wrists and arms too much!
  13. Woot woot on the boxes! Having just moved - very quickly and half-assed on the organizational component - I am really rooting for you and your packing/unpacking goal. I need to go back through some of my stuff and re-pack it before I try and move into my next place.
  14. Sorry to hear about the pain, but it sounds like the walk itself was nice. Happy that you had a friend to walk with today. My fiancee left for a Haydn Festival in Oklahoma this morning so now the dog is my partner in crime. Looking forward to having her back for our night walks. We had a good bit of rain here as well. We're having a front just before Andrea comes up to greet us here in NC.
  15. Going strong on 3/4ths of your goals! I would say that counts as a good week, especially given the external circumstances. Keep up the good work and add in the yoga when you can.
  16. Best of luck at this conference. As for your goals, amazing job so far! Don't beat yourself up about the selling stuff. That is such a hard thing to do!
  17. Great goals, Sabina! A little motivation for this goal: their are many people who have had success slowly reintroducing foods that originally gave them problems after taking time for their body to heal on foods that don't inflame them. Thinking about how much you might be able to enjoy some of those tasty treats without any nasty side effects might help you cut them out for now. If you haven't, look into the GAPs as well as Nourishing Traditions. Both of those lifestyles have seemed to help people heal from food related problems (myself included).
  18. A lot of people seem to feel awkward with the stretch in their "ring" toes and pinky toes but I absolutely love it! My pinky toes have grown accustomed to curling up underneath my "ring" toes, which is not comfortable at all. Feeling them stretch out made it a pleasure to stand on my toes, which is a bizarre feeling.
  19. I love mashing avocado and make a dip with it (smoother than guacamole). Sometimes I'll do honey, a pinch of salt, and some bourbon vanilla for a sweet treat while other times I'll use a variety of curry spices for a nice spicy/savory dip. As for the banana problemo, have you ever made banana ice cream? Freeze the bananas and then throw them in a food processor. The texture is fairly akin to ice cream, and you can flavor it with herbs (honey and thyme are personal favorites) or extracts.
  20. I keep all of them in there until it gets crowded The more SCOBY surface area you have, the quicker your brew goes. I personally like a super sour kombucha to start with so when I dilute it with other juices the sweetness doesn't overpower the sour. Plus, I use white sugar in my booch, so I want to make sure as much of that is used up as possible. Word to the wise: easy way to hook fiends, family, significant others, etc on to the good stuff is to use a higher ratio of juice to booch, as the end product will be much sweeter. I've gradually worked a few members of my family (and the fiancee) down to slightly stronger stuff. It is addicting, so just getting them to try it is enough
  21. Will do! Went for a walk/run (I like to be fancy and call it interval training when all I do is walk for a bit, run until just after I become winded, walk to recover, run a bit more, wash, rinse, repeat) and they did lovely. I noticed an almost immediate shift in my running posture and position, although this could definitely be placebo - I'll have to keep tabs on it to see if it continues.
  22. Thanks for clearing up those names! As for the FitBit, you show up on my dashboard on the Friends tile. It shows your step count, but in one click I'm at your dashboard. Not sure what you're going for. Are you dashboard beta or the original dashboard?
  23. Okey dokey! Yesterday was a mess. My university did a terrible thing and gave me my diploma without actually having completed everything I had to complete, so yesterday was my *cue King Speech worthy string of curses* make-up day. Basically, I pumped out a 30 page unit plan (B.S. - Music Education) and assessment data analysis instead of completing my step goal. While I definitely made the right choice, it makes me angry because it was my own procrastination that was my level 99 boss battle. However, my other goals went really well! In fact, to celebrate, I purchased a pair of Vibrams that were on sale at REI for $30! What a great find! I actually sent my brother back out to the same one to see if another clearance pair were his size. Hopefully they are! I've been wearing them for about 30 minutes now and I'm loving the stretch they're putting on my littlest toes. Just walking around (and some short sprints) have me completely enamored. I know I'm only supposed to wear them for a short while each day for the first bit to get accustomed and break them in but that is gonna be really difficult. I'll probably take them on two or three of this weeks remaining walks.
  24. EDDIE! (said in my best Columbia/Little Nell voice) Eddie Izzard is one of my favorite comedians of all time! Glad to see another fan on here. I'm personally a fan of the evil giraffe, but the flag bit was genius.
  25. I've been brewing my own for a couple of months now. About 2 months ago I started bottling, which has made such a difference! I usually let my secondary fermentation go for 3 or 4 days. My favorite secondary flavor has been pomegranate and/or pineapple. I've also done mango nectar (delicious) and triple berry (raspberry, blueberry, and strawberry) - my current brew. My Scoby's are sitting in a long ferment booch now on hiatus since I just moved back in with my parents after graduation. Since I cap my bottles, I obviously don't burp them. However, I have had no problems yet, and I bottle 2 gallons at a time (I drink a lot of Kombucha ). I love my scoby's! The little pancake guys are just awesome! However, my sourdough starter may beat them out on cuteness, haha.
