  1. Wow...almost a month since I last signed in. *shakes head* Oh well.

  2. Welp, I guess I should that I haven't really been sticking to my goals. Er...yeah. I haven't really done much in the way of accomplishing my goals. I'm not going to make excuses for myself, however. Thank you, guys. I appreciate that you guys though to check up on me. Heh. In other news I'm a high school graduate now and I'm going to be an university in about seven weeks. I'm going to save my strength for the next six week challenge.... /thunder cracks in distance/
  3. Check In for Week 2 (Yeah, I know. I'm supposed to be checking in at least three times weekly.) I don't think I did well at all this week. Meh. I suppose that's why I didn't check in much. Didn't have anything good to report, lol. Foodstuff Don't really recall what I ate this week. Just that I didn't eat well: missed meals and ate a lot of processed foods, basically. Exercise Lots of ping pong during breaks in between classes, hahah. And walking to school and back. Other than that, nothing.
  4. Last Check In for Week 1 Foodstuff Uh, to say the least, the last four days have been pretty terrible. The first two days went well, then yeah, I guess I fell off the wagon. And landed in a pile of cheeseburgers. Exercise Did W1D1 of the C25K program. Walking to school and back home. Played baseball for an hour on Friday afternoon. Spent yesterday afternoon driving around on an ATV on a very rough/muddy/watery trail. Thoughts Bascally, I know could have done better.
  5. Third Check-In of Six Week Challenge Week 1 Day 3 Quick Recap Foodstuff Uh, basically any notion of healthy eating went out the window on W1D3. Breakfast: Missed breakfast. Snack: Drank some orange juice. Lunch: Scrambled eggs w/ spinach + tea w/ honey Afterschool: Two small bowls of macaroni salad + snacked on various pieces of devils food cake *spread throughout 3:40 to around 5:00 Dinner: Mostly eaten cheese burger + half a bowl of macaroni salad Snack: Devils food cake w/cherry filling w/ french vanilla icing. *My step-mom did a bake/BBQ sale and I helped out. Needless to say, my will power was tested that day. And no, it did not prevail. A person can only do (eat) so much (little) when surround by such tasty looking food. Exercise No run. Could not get up. Literally slept through both my alarms. Thoughts I'm over doing it with school. I've pushed myself a little too hard. Ugh. One week. Then exams. Four culminating activities. Uh, five. Wait. Six. And Five exams. I'm taking six courses, if you're wondering why I have so much work, lol. I'm graduating a year early. Or trying to, anyway. I'm going to do some homework now. Tata.
  6. Ok, thanks! I think I'll adjust my first goal a bit to running 3K, since running 5K in six weeks is kind of realistic. I think I'll also change my push-up goal to 20; I think that may be a little more challenging. Thanks again for your input.
  7. Heya, Muryanp. Fellow Ravenclaw here. I like your studying strategy; I think I'll borrow some of your ideas and apply it to my own studying habits. A rocky start is alright; you're a busy person from what I can tell. I'm sure you'll rock this challenge.
  8. Hiya Skip! Nice to see a fellow trekkie
  9. Hi, Kanjigirl. We're both in Team Ravenclaw. Nice to see that you've had a good start. Keep it up!
  10. Forewarning: me rambling about vaguely philosophical notions. "What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?" Why do I like this quote so damn much? (And yes, I am aware that there is already a thread for motivational/inspirational quotes.) I'll explain. Er, or I'll attempt anyway (which is something I know I can do...you'll catch on after you're done reading.) Right then. I’ll just jump right into explaining. If you know yourself well enough, then you know exactly what you're capable of accomplishing. If you know that, then you know exactly how much and what you can accomplish. You follow me? However, knowing how much and what you can accomplish can lead to stagnation. If you already know what you can do, then what's the point, right? It’s like you already accomplished that thing you know you can do, because you KNOW you can do it. Kind of. You see, what's actually important is what you DO do. Know you CAN do something, can prevent you (in a way) from attempting to above and beyond what you're already capable of. And in my experience that’s what makes life fun. Knowing that you can accomplish something is nice. But actually DOING something is what's important. Besides, accomplishing something you’ve set out to do, whether it is doing one push up or ten is a fantastic feeling. This lesson can be applied to other areas in life too, besides fitness. Which is awesome (I’m surprised that’s the first time I’ve used that word in this thread…hm.) Carrying on. Conclusion? I think you are amazing if you have read this far, that I have a tendency to overthink things on certain occasions, and that I have found THE quote. Simply put, it reminds me to always put my utmost effort in everything I do. In doing so, well…I don’t know. I think I’m a little too young to have figured that out yet. Hm..well I have? Just did? I have a vague notion as to what putting effort and – (totally had an epiphany while typing this sentence) - I figured it out. It puts MEANING into your life. This is, as I understand something people strive for, to have in their lives. Whoa. This is turning oddly philosophical. Continuing on. Meaning…people want their lives to mean something. Want their lives to be important. Which they are. However, understanding that their lives are already important, and by affiliation have meaning, is something that people struggle with (or they already know that, but are doubtful? What’s life without doubt, eh). Welp. I think I am little too young to be asking what the meaning of life is. But, feel free to think about it, if you want. Go ahead. Take a moment. Any epiphanies? Yeah? No? That’s okay, I didn’t have any either. So, as I’m sure you’ve surmised…I know what I am capable of accomplishing (and am in the processing accomplishing that thing that I’m still surprised I’m actually doing), but do you? *ps: apologies for any spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors *pps: looking forward to seeing what you brilliant folks on here have to say about my ramblings *ppps: I would love to hear about your guys’ favorite quotes and what they mean to you, if anyone is interested in that
  11. Ahh, that's so cool. I really like that quote. It inspires a certain "I can do anything" feeling in me. Wow, and I totally just wrote a very long entry on notepad about why I like it. I think I'll make a thread about it.
  12. Yay! I'm glad you made it through your first run. I'm sure it'll get easier, or so I'm told. When I was first researching the Paleo lifestyle, I came across this recipe index --> Paleo Friendly Recipes. It has a lot of good (and simple) recipes. Plus, the lady who runs that blogs it really nice. I think I've following it for more than half a year. Lol! Just goes to show how much I like it, I guess.
  13. Second Check-In of Six Week Challenge Week 1 Day 2 Food Log *had small palmful of almonds before walk/jog in the morning Breakfast: Missed breakfast. Had tea w/ honey though. Snack: Drank some orange juice. Lunch: Oatmeal w/ frozen blueberries + an apple and tea sweetened w/ honey. Snack: Mixed fruit, mostly grapes, w/ some cantalope and pineapple, not much though, a few pieces + two cookies. Dinner: Eggs + sweet potato and green bell pepper stir-fry (so good, omg.) Snack: Tea sweetened w/ honey *had a water bottle with me throughout the day, so I had some water Exercise Decided to take a rest day. Thoughts Uh, I'm tired. I'm going to play a game of scrabble with my step-mom, later. I have a lot of school work to do in the next three weeks. /sigh/ I thought I did pretty well today, aside from missing breakfast. I'm looking forward to working out later. I think I'm only going to one or two more check-ins for this week. Doing these take a surprising amount of time, hahah. Er, I'm going end this paragraph on that note, before I ramble on anymore (and take up more time, when I could be finishing that music ass't that was due yesterday...). ETA: didn't get to work out, as I fell asleep after my game of scrabble. Hahah, I was very close to winning.
  14. Ate dinner. Eggs and sweet potatoe/green bell pepper stir fry. It was yum. :)

  15. Oh my, your reply made me smile. Thanks! Day 2 went quite well, aside from sleeping in (I had a late night, couldn't fall asleep.) Unfortunately I don't have a batman outfit, you guys will have to make do with me in my undercover, ahem, I mean regular jane clothing. Thank you! Congrats on being able to run 5K in 40 minutes. That's impressive. It would probably take me an hour if I were to try right now. Thanks! Good luck on your first run. It's quite exhilarating, once you get into it. And thank you, again, for the warm welcome!
  16. If you want run a 5k, might I suggest the Couch to 5K (C25K) program? You can download as an app on the iphone, or ipod. I'm using it and it's working pretty well so far. Also, if you want to drink more water throughout the day, you should try carrying a water bottle around with you. I do it and the number times I go to the washroom a day is a testament to how well it's worked for me. Lol! I do my fair share of snacking, now that I think about it. Hm, I probably should be doing something about that. As for waking up early...I struggle with that, as well. In fact, I sort of slept in this morning (for me anyway, lol!), but only because I forgot to turn on my alarm. I downloaded this app called, 'SpinMe' for my ipod. It's worked pretty well, aside from my mishap this morning. Basically to turn off the alarm, you have to get up and spin around twice to get up. Heh, hope you had a good day!
  17. Hiya, I joined your accountibillibuddy group. We both have our second goal in common - I'm using C25K program as well. It makes running an entire 5K seem doable. Algebra. Hoowee. Me and math are like two people who sit at a lunch table every lunch together, but don't really talk. Lol! This summer I want to reaquaint myself with it - basically, relearning dividing by long-hand, adding/substracting/multiplying/dividing fractions. All that fun stuff. If you have any questions feel free to ask me, not sure how much I'll be able to help though, hahah. Looking forward to see your progress! Which I am sure, you will undoubtedly make.
  18. Oh my god, dude. You're a GoT fan. Yay! Haha, man. That's awesome. I love your goals. Especially the round kick, that's badass. O.O I have a hard time doing a somersault; I can't imagine trying to do cartwheel, let alone what you described. I also really like the way you write too. Anyway, hope you had a good Day 2!
  19. Wow, you are a very determined lady. Very admirable. I wish my community had a pool, I would go swimming every chance I had. You're apricot chicken looks delicious. My stomach rumbled when I saw the pictures, lol! Looking forward to seeing what else you'll cook up. Have fun reading!
  20. Hey, I like your goals. Very similar to mine. I too, am doing a Hundred push up program. It's an app, on my ipod. Not sure how long it'll take me to get to one hundred though. Lol. Good luck on cutting out the soda from your diet. I heard it's quite addictive; I wouldn't know though, I don't drink pop, it upsets my stomach. Hope you have a good day!
  21. I've always felt a certain kinship with the Ravenclaw House when I read the HP books. This is my first challenge (link in my signature). I'm looking forward to going through it with like-minded people.
  22. Blah, didn't have breakfast. Eagerly awaiting lunch break, hahah.

  23. First Check-In of Six Week Challenge Week 1 Day 1 Food Log *had small palmful of almonds before walk/jog in the morning Breakfast: Oatmeal w/ frozen blueberries + tea sweetened w/ honey Snack: Orange juice Lunch: Scrambled eggs w/ spinach + apple + tea sweetened w/ honey Snack: Ritz crackers (lol, they we're like, right there) Dinner: Macaroni w/ meatsauce (two serviings, whoops) + BBQ Sausages Snack: Tea sweetened w/ honey *had a water bottle with me throughout the day, so I got plenty of water Exercise C25K: W1D1 (25 min. walk/jog) in the morning Thoughts I thought it went well enough. I had class all day, so I was pretty tired after school and ended up caving in to a second helping of macaroni. I'm not going to beat myself up about it, however. It was some damn good macaroni. Hahah. I thought my run went pretty well. I'm comfortably sore, in the most pleasant of ways. I bought a new alarm app for my ipod; to turn the alarm off, you have to get up and spin. So when it went off, I actually got up. Which was a nice change, from sleeping in and not having enough time to prepare myself breakfast. It's now 10:30pm, and I'm going to bed now.
