  1. Bonjour Scouts! I am a little bit late on the start of this challenge, but better late than never! On April 24, 2016, I will be jumping from a paddle boat and swimming a mile to shore to compete in my first olympic triathlon! I am so excited but this means that I have to start taking this training serious. I am not only trying to complete but I am aiming at 1st or 2nd in my age group. This race is a qualifier for Escape from Alcatraz, and that race is on my quest list! In order to qualify I have to place 1st or 2nd at Kemah. Overall quest is to qualify for Alcatraz. Here are my quests for the next few weeks to eventually get me to that goal: 1.Fitness- Swim 3x/week using tri swim coach workout app (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) Bike 2x/week once with cycling club and once on trainer for HIIT(thursday, saturday) Run 2x/week once for speed and once for distance (wednesday, sunday) 2. Eat clean- Meal prep. Meal prep. Meal prep. Need to prep meals on the weekend or monday nights to prepare for entire week. 3. Hydrate- Make sure to drink at least 64 oz of water a day. Sometimes I forget, but I am bringing my nalgene bottle to work and it helps tremendously 4. Life quest- I recently started learning french. I am going to practice this an hour per day in the evenings. I don't have a trip planned yet, but I want to visit paris. Au revoir!
  2. I recently registered for my first triathlon of the season. Kemah Olympic Triathlon on April 24, 2016. Also there is a 10k trail race that I am doing the weekend before that on April 16, 2016. That one is the Brazos Bend 50. I am super excited about kemah and I have been training hard going on 7 days. All encouragement is welcome. I am going to join the challenge. I am late but it still helps me stay accountable.
  3. Well it was too cold to get out of bed; therefore, I didn't make it to the pool this morning. I have a pretty flexible work schedule though, so even though I am at work I will work out. My boss is actually on the treadmill right now So I may do some weights or bodyweight brigade and some sprint intervals on the track.
  4. Sounds tasty! I am about half way through the book and loving it
  5. I am about to start HR training for my triathlons. This way I can keep track of my intensity when I am doing brick style workouts. I haven't ever felt that I needed to track HR until recently as I have increased my bike workouts. Its hard to tell if I am pushing too hard or not hard enough. I am use to the run and know how far and hard I can go, but its when you mix them together that messes things up. Looking forward to hearing more about your goals. Keep up the hard work!
  6. Great book and looks like a very stout beer!

Awesome work and goals! I too am trying to read more often. Maybe not a book a week but just to wind down in the evening. Way to go and keep up the good work!
  8. I am trying to tidy up around the house daily but haven't had the best of luck with that goal. By the time I am done with work and working out, I am drained! Might think about switching that around to morning, so I cant have being tired as excuse. Keep up the good work!
  9. Heads or Tails time trial bike race on February 27, 2016 Beaumont, TX
  10. Hey Everyone! I am doing well on my challenge overall (except posting). My mom came to visit for the weekend and helped motivate me around the house. I cleaned a couple rooms because I knew she was coming. We spent a whole afternoon stripping wallpaper in my kitchen. Wow, I am so glad thats over! then we went and bought supplies to texture the walls. Hopefully I can do that this weekend and then paint the next day or week. I am probably not going to finish by the time the challenge is over but I have made great progress. The diet is going well. I am mostly prepping my meals at home so that I can eat clean. The end of the week is harder because I start running out of meals that I prepped at the beginning of the week and life just takes hold. I guess I will just need to prep again on wednesdays or thursday nights. I have successfully completed the body weight brigade every other day (atleast 3 times per week) and sometimes I work in a bike ride with that. I also ran 2 miles the other day and my knee is doing tremendously better! I was able to run 8:20/mile and my norm before the injury was somewhere in the 7s but I am slowly getting back to where I left off in November. During the time of injury I was running 10min/miles. Thats a huge set back from where I was. I am slowly adding mileage and being patient. I havent been able to get to the pool yet, but I will do that before the week is over. Tri season is just around the corner, so I need to start taking this swim thing serious. I have decided that I want to sign up for an olympic distance triathlon. I have only done sprints in the past and I will continue to do sprints, but one of my life quests is to compete in the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon . To qualify for this race, I will have to do well in an olympic distance triathlon (Kemah Triathlon) I will post about my swim either tomorrow or friday. So long for now! Have a great day fellow rebels
  11. Hello! I am doing pretty good on my challenge (except for the whole posting thing). I also have had trouble journaling this past week, but all in all I have been doing well on my quests. Eating overall pretty clean. I fell off the wagon over the weekend though, so now its time to get serious again. I was able to accomplish 3 BWB workouts this past week and a trainer session on the bike and a run. Been pretty good about the water intake too. Im getting atleast 64oz a day, but not much more. The housework is overwhelming though. When I get home all I want to do is workout, eat and relax. So the house is a mess! Today my goal is to get my bedroom clean and clutter free. So instead of cleaning 10 minutes I will fold clothes and work on my room until it is done! No excuses!
  12. Quest update: Hey everyone! It has been a few days since I have been able to post, but just wanted everyone to know that I am still alive and going strong on my goals. Day 3: Diet was in check and I tracked my macros on myfitnesspal. Breakfast and lunch were prepared at home. I went out to dinner with the boyfriend so I am not sure about the macros for that. I did eat pretty healthy as far as the main course goes, but we ordered boudin quesadillas for appetizer (I only had one). It was so good! Then I had some nachos too. I am sure I went over my carb limit but oh well. Life goes on! I also got damn close to my protein and fat goals too, so I am happy with that. I drank 84oz of water and completed workout B of the BWB LVL 3. No cleaning and no housework. Hopefully I can get home early enough tomorrow to work those in. Day 4: I did okay today. Ate good and was pretty close to my macro goals. I drank a lot of coffee and some water. I think I had 60-64 oz. Did not clean or work on house. I just don't have any motivation to work on the house in the middle of the week so I think that is going to end up being a weekend project. I tried to run but my knee started bothering me at 1/4 mile so I turned around and finished half of a mile. That's all I did! I just didn't feel like doing much else. Its so discouraging to improve my running speed and then bam out of nowhere my body falls apart. I didn't even do anything for it to start hurting like this. I had an MRI on wednesday and I got the results. I don't have any torn tissue which is a good thing but then it kinda is even more upsetting because now I just have bone edema which means nothing to me. The only answer is to rest and take anti-inflammatories. If that doesn't help then I have to get a cortisone shot. Maybe that will be the cure all. Anyway, I really hope it helps because I really enjoy running. I am so glad that I can still bike and do bodyweight stuff without pain. Day 5: I am an athletic trainer at a high school, so fridays are very busy for me. Its game day and pretty much my whole routine goes out the window. By this time in the week I run out of meals in the fridge, so I resort to something quick and most of the time that means unhealthy. Today that just happens to be hospitality room sweets and gumbo. BEST GUMBO EVER!!!! No cleaning, no housework. I met my water goals of 64oz, but no workout. I will do better on saturday. Day 6: I started out good. I had a good breakfast of scrambled eggs with sausage and spinach, but when I got to work it all went out the window. Had a kolache, donut, and banana bread. Oh and then gumbo for lunch. I have to get back to eating clean. And I told myself that I was going to workout to make up for day 5 but I didn't do that either. About the only quest I accomplished was water intake. Day 7: I had a really good day today. I did the dishes, vacuumed and did 2 loads of laundry. I guess I was making up for lost time. I still did not work on wall paper. Instead I went for a bike ride. It was such a beautiful day that I couldn't resist. It was 51 degrees and sunny with a slight wind. Not too bad for cycling but the wind made it a little chilly. I rode 19.5 miles in 1 hour 10 min. Kinda slow but not bad for the first day on the road of 2016. Well that's it for the first week! I will post more often this week, so the post isn't as long.I don't plan on taking any measurements until the challenge is complete. I am just going to do the best that I know how and stay consistent with the nutrition and exercise. So I bought a pork butt and some chicken for meal prep this week. The rotisserie chicken has already given me two meals and I will get 2 more out of it. The roast will give me atleast that and probably a lot more. I went shopping last night for food for this week. I stayed away from sugary fruit and instead got some blueberries, almonds and dark chocolate to satisfy my sweet tooth in the evenings.
  13. Hey SaltyDragon! I went out on the road yesterday with my bike. The weather lately has been nasty so most of my riding has been indoors on the trainer. Yesterday the skies opened up and gave me a golden opportunity to ride! I was able to get in 20 miles. It was 51 degrees so a little chilly for me (I am from texas so anything below 70 calls for a jacket) and there was a little wind as well, but not too bad and I was glad I got outside. The fresh air was so nice! Thanks for the comment and good luck with your goals.
  14. Ok. I will check out the calendar. I am going to register for a bike time trial in february and first tri will probably be in april. Thanks!
