  1. Yes! That phenomena is known as "El Rayo del Catatumbo" (Catatumbo Lightning). It's been five years since I went to Congo Mirador and got goosebumps when suddenly the whole sky went from pitch-black to milky white. It's amazing! But, recently pollution has taken its toll on the lake; the lightning is disappearing :/ If I can find a pic on my HD I'll upload it for you guys to see. Oh, and yes, I'm from Maracaibo, the city by the lake Thanks for the links Rosen, some day I'll be going euro-tripping to visit that Fortress, it looks amazing o_o
  2. Now THAT was a heavy week. Heavy but productive, except for the workout bit Got into a trip to Caracas (our DC) with my parents to meet dr. Jacinto Convit. For those who didn't know, he's developing a vaccine against cancer. Yeah, mom got accepted for the new experimental therapy, so, the die has been cast, we'll go for it. On the other hand, got little-to-no workout, but I'm gonna start over again today. Still, before the trip, got to 2 sets of beginner bodyweight workout, getting closer to those 3 sets, doubling the amount of reps. I'm doing 15 pushups, 20 squats, 30 sec. plank, 20 dumbbell rows, 40 jumping jacks and 25 lunges. Gonna add 15 or 20 crunches to that. I'm not done yet, spezzy, don't put me on the defunct list! >.<
  3. That seems delicious. Gotta try it this weekend!
  4. Give it time, get your mindset ready; wishing you well from all the way down south!
  5. Keep walking Neon, and don't push yourself to a extreme. If it hurts, stop! I'm learning to differentiate between soreness of working out and pain from not doing it right, too. I'm feeling pretty good today, a little tired but very relaxed, a little sore on the calfs and feet, but without injury-like pain; I guess that means I'm doing it right (woohoo!). Still, while sprinting during the HIIT, sometimes I felt like I was going to fall apart! We are starting to get the hang of it, just be patient and keep the good work Hmm, have you ever read Snow Crash? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_Crash Recommended
  6. In Socialist Venezuela, milk comes in bags we were blessed with beautiful mountains and sabanas, pretty girls, and insane politicians. I love my country! Also, Rosen, never seen Sofia, not even in pictures, only knew about your country thanks to a great geography teacher . I'll take a look at the wiki article. Any awesome landmarks to be aware of?
  7. Thanks Neon! Bueno, si entiendes esto, vas por buen camino muchacha Sigue estudiando que a la final (Keep studying, in the end) Spanish isn't that hard to learn, like everything, it requires time and dedication. Hmm, 100 push-ups it's one thing I'd love to achieve Rosen. Thanks for the link. I'll work for it, increasing by one or two in all sets per session. Maybe I'll be able to reach that for the next Challenge... I hope so. Did HIIT today - 5 minutes for stretching and walking, 17 minutes of 2min-light-jog/30sec-of-blazing-fury intervals (7), 5 minutes for stretching and walking, cooling off. One cheat meal today - a chicken shawarma. Ever eaten one of those? Don't like them as much, less now that I'm trying to eat as cleanly as possible. I don't know about other cultures, but, here in Venezuela rejecting a dinner can be seen as something pretty mean... Even if you say: "I'm sorry, I can't, I don't want to swallow that piece of whateveritis because I'm in a clean-eating plan". Tomorrow, bring the noise... and the weights. P.S.: Is it advisable to do some push-ups and squats every training day? Including those of HIIT-only work out.
  8. For me, Yavin 4, let's see... OH SHI-
  9. Hello mate! Here's a good description of body weight exercises by Steve http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/07/17/no-gym-no-problem-bodyweight-exercises-and-the-nerd-fitness-challenge/ on the other hand, IceGenesis sent me this link with some ideas for homemade weights, check it out! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100402000650AAPFOoJ ...or a chocolate Pyramid Head, in my case.
  10. Damn straight! let's do this partner Remember, drink water, keep core straight, and don't let go, even if your dog starts to get lovey-dovey with your leg...
  11. Thanks again for all your wishes and prayers I'm positive she will get better, it's just a matter of time and effort... And, about Great! Gotta try those! Did 2 sets of the weight training today. I realized that full push-ups are really demanding, only got to ten on both sets and almost hit the floor face-first on the last one, hahaha. I'm feeling kinda sore, but relaxed and ready for a HIIT session tomorrow.
  12. Shameless copypasta from the 28 Day Challenge Thread, with a little more background Name: Rommel, lone fox from Venezuela. I'm sorry if my English seems a little choppy, it ain't my first language, pero si alguien necesita unas miniclases de español para medio acomodar el asunto pues, aquí estoy Goals: Fitness! - 20 push-ups, 3 sets, doubling the whole beginner body weight workout, doing it 3 times a week. - Achieving perfect form for all basic exercises. - 30 min. Interval Training, with less decreased pace, also 3 times a week. - Walk to Uni three days a week, that's like 5 km each day. - Be able to do a pull-up (or two, the more the merrier) Life! - Avoid paying the gym fee until mom recovers. She's dealing with breast cancer and currently receiving chemotherapy, so, every single dime saved can make a huge difference. Also, changing my attitude towards life, pushing myself to new heights... Class: Ranger Eating: Paleo except for sundays, avoid sugar like the flu. Been doing it for a week now, even when I was just lurking this site. Other Stuff: I'm actually on a tight budget, those cancer meds are really expensive, but, like Steve said, Do Whatever it Takes! I've only got a pair of dumbbells, a sturdy bed and a nice clean floor, so, anything involving training with my own weight feels right for now. This is my first time training for real, and there's no reason for me to stop! Team? Yes! Sharing is living! If you got advice for a total noob, please tell me oh, and thank you guys... It's been only a few days and I'm already feeling better overall. Well, gotta take a sweat now, cheers!
