  1. Fyi, the computer that has Avatar_XXIII's emulator is about to get upgraded to Win10. I'm going to do a clean install (the computer is overdue for that) so XXIII will be offline until I get the emulator set-up again (could be a couple days). Point is - please don't put him in any wars this week. I'll keep the account's war in/out status up-to-date according to whether or not I have access to the account.
  2. I broke down and installed the game after reading all the positive things you guys have to say about it! So far, I'm just about to upgrade to SH3, so I still have a couple upgrades before I can join the NF kingdom. I have a couple questions about the game, though. Maybe some of you more experienced folks know the answers - 1. How does available loot work? Is there a loot penalty for being higher SH than the defender? 2. How does match-making work? I've maxed everything in my small SH2 base except for walls and I'm wondering if it's to my advantage to delay upgrading my SH as long as possible (like in CoC). Depending on how looting and matchmaking work, though, it might not matter as much and it would be nice to get new buildings at the higher SH levels. Also, for anyone who doesn't know, http://cydoniark.com/has some promo codes so that you can get free gold/stones, etc.
  3. Hey guys, I'm going to be out on vacation next week (with limited internet access), so I've opted Avatar V and Avatar XXIII out of war. I'll opt back in once I'm back in town.
  4. Agreed all around; I like the rules Gainsdalf laid out and if some folks need exceptions, I think that's completely understandable. We're a pretty casual clan; no need to be too hard-nosed about these things.
  5. Thanks for the write-up DarkKent! I agree with most of what you said. I'd like to figure out some guidelines for our clan wars to improve our chances of winning. I think you're on to something when you say that the first attack should be for three stars. To win wars, we have to 3* most of their bases, so even a 2* attack may not be worth much since someone will likely have to clean up that last star later. On the other hand, though, we don't want people attacking too far below their rank or our low-level folks won't be able to contribute. How about rules like this: Your first attack should be against your rank - 3 (so our #1 attacks their #4, our #15 attacks their #18) If you're in the bottom four, make your first attack against the opponent in the enemy bottom 4 that you think you have the best chance of 3 starring. Your first attack should be during the first 12 hours of the war. Your second attack should be a 'clean-up' attack against an enemy that has already been attacked (unless it's against the enemy top 4). Your second ('clean-up') attack should be made against an enemy base that you feel confident you can 3* Our top folks (top 5? top 10?) should delay their second attack to let lower and mid-level folks clean-up what they can first. It's not a perfect system, but I think it would help to have rules that encourage people to make attacks they're more likely to 3* without encouraging people to attack ten ranks below themselves. Thoughts?
  6. I'm getting close to TH9 - just have to save up some resources. That said, I haven't been playing as much lately. The nice thing about CoC, though, is that it's ok to not play a lot. I'll just take it slow, make sure I'm online for the main war, and get to TH9 when I get there. I am really looking forward to getting an AQ, though.
  7. Awesome, thanks Oramac. I'll be sure to add you tonight. And even though priest was my main in Cata, I'm in the mood to go back to either mage or warrior (probably both), which are what I mained up until Cata.
  8. Thanks for the welcome, Oramac. Any tips for someone returning after a long absence?
  9. Re-lapsed WoW'er checking in I played vanilla-Cata before quitting because of busyness with family/babies. I briefly played MoP about a year and a half ago, but I still didn't really have the time for it. Last week, my wife mentioned that she was in the mood to play again, so I renewed the subscription. I must say, coming back after a year and a half gone is a bit overwhelming! A lot has changed. I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things again, though. Feel free to friend me - AvatarV#1918 I'm still deciding which faction/server to focus on. My highest level characters, currently, are - 88 Undead mage on Mannoroth85 Blood Elf priest on Feathermoon80 Draeni warrior on Misha80 Gnome mage on Misha
  10. I'm the same as Tyr. I'm always in for the main war and will usually be up for a mini, but I don't want to say 'always in' just in case. I'll jump in those when I catch the discussion in chat and when my schedule isn't too crazy.
  11. I've got a particularly busy week at work coming up, so I'm going to opt Avatar XXIII out of war for the week. I'll leave Avatar V in because I can probably squeeze those attacks in.
  12. I made it through about book 7 or so before I got distracted with other books. Really enjoyed the first part of the series, but it seemed to drag a little in the middle. My wife has read through them all a couple times and tells me that Sanderson did a good job finishing it off, so I'll have to give it another shot some time. It's been long enough since I read them (and I wasn't as far in as you) so I'll probably just start from the beginning someday when I read them again.
  13. I had an idea- is it possible for leaders to opt everyone out of wars and ask that people only opt-in if they plan to attack? That way the people who aren't around enough to attack may not be around enough to opt back in and we should only get folks who really plan to participate. Or do leaders not get to set opt-in/opt-out aside from when they're starting the war search?
  14. I'm excited for the clan levels. First, they look fun/useful. Second, they're earned by competing in clan wars, so I'm hoping they will encourage more casual clans to war more which, in turn, should lead to us getting matched with non-uber clans more often. Also, being able to opt out of war seems really nice for going on vacation, whatever, without the hassle of having to leave and re-join the clan.
  15. Sorry to see you go, Rooks! I'll echo what Pete said - we'll miss you, but you're doing it right to put real life first.
