  1. I would so go to that band, y'know? I think I'll put on an extra strap and repaint it with something...maybe from Narnia or the Batman multiverse...
  2. Ooh, the new ranger sigils are here! So I started training a few folks this year, and had two sessions today after work. I found out that it's fun to 'pace' my clients by doing the exercises with them as a buddy at their own pace. Especially when I introduce the movements first time, that way they can use me as a mirror to check their own movement. Goal Updates: Goal 1: No time to workout in the morning before work, but I can carve some time during meal 2 of the day, and then I move energetically during the training sessions, so it's an overall plus. So I get in 8 hours of constant, low intensity movement 5 days per week, and on at least 3 weekdays I have another hour of mid to high intensity training. Refining my diet is...problematic. Carbs are despairingly easy to cook up and so terribly available...i've switched to vegetables, legumes, and meats, and I'm no longer hungry two hours after eating. Plus I get less acne, no random boredom cravings...I'm enjoying the fruits of a better-balanced diet. Goal 2: I am listening to an H.P. Lovecraft anthology of stories this week while I clean empty dorms over break. Talk about eerie and weird...I'm going to download some fitness business podcasts and bone up on how to do the thing! Goal 3: My co-worker is going to start up a Bible study group with some other folks in our church and invited me and mine to be a part of it.
  3. Kes, nope, it was just laying in one of the shower stalls. Because reasons, college, finals, etc.
  4. Thanks Kath! I hope it does, too!
  5. I'm a wee bit west of Columbus, just south of Springfield. Anybuddy up for a meetup after the new year breaks?
  6. To the legion of the lost ones, to the cohort of the damned, To my brethren in their sorrows overseas.

  7. Update Goal 1: Body Completed tabata workout on the light intensity setting, and me boyo, do I need some work. Update Goal 2: Mind Today, I wrote a business plan and a marketing plan for my new small personal fitness training business: Castle Fitness. In fact it's so new the website isn't up yet and the ink hasn't dried on the paperwork, but I have one! I just got a new job and it's cool and all the people are cool and the benefits are awesome, but it's not what I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life. I love to train, and I love helping my friends grow in strength and power and grace. That is what I want to do when I grow up, and that's what I'm going to be working toward-growing my fledgeling business to profitability and all my client/padawans to awesomeness. The more I learn, the more I understand how little I have learned, and how much more there is to discover. Update Goal 3: Spirit I am reading through a book by Stormie Omartian called the Power of a Praying Husband. It's definitely giving me some better insight on how to pray for my friends, family, and my wife.
  8. Because victory loves preparation, I am rebuilding and reassessing myself, my strengths and my weaknesses. Goal 1: Body/Physical Fitness (STR/END/DEX). Make efficient use of my time to grow as a tougher, faster, stronger, more capable human being. 80 Pushups in 2 minutes 80 Situps in 2 minutes 2 mile run in 14 minutes (or less!) I will use HIIT/Tabata protocols to work my entire body 3 days/week with a variety of exercises, neglecting nothing and strengthening everything. Goal 2: Mind (INT). Use my time to get smarter, and to apply my hard-won knowledge wisely. Read the classics. Write one chapter per month. Develop a business and marketing plan for a personal training side hustle. Goal 3: Spirit (WIS/LCK) Use my time to grow deeper and more powerful in my spiritual walk. Read the Bible, and/or study, and pray each day to grow as a man. Find a young padawan to mentor. Find an elder to mentor me. I'll get more specific before the end of the year with some line items as I do a year end review, but in the meantime, keep on a-rocking the universe!
  9. Hello again, I am in a similar boat. Don't give up: get back up, dust yourself off, and send a flying jumpkick into the new year!
  10. I've been back from Ashkanistan for 18 months, no job to speak of, and I've been hired by a company with a good reputation, a great team to work with, and the benefits package is also enticing. In point of fact, I just finished my second week with them and this is the first company I've worked for where I came home from work and didn't dread going back to work the next day. In RPG terms, I am now multiclassing as a Level 1 Custodian/Level 3 Engineer Officer. I stopped to think about it the other day and I'm pretty sure that I'm probably one of the nerdiest and dangerously overqualified custodians on campus. PS After finals week I found an abandoned riot shield in a men's dorm showers (see photo below). So. Many. Questions. So many questions now.
  11. Psalm 91:1-8 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord: "He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I place my trust." Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare and the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, Nor the destruction that lays waste at midday. A thousand may fall at your side; ten thousand at your right hand: But it will not come near you. Only with your eyes will you look and see the destruction of the wicked. This is what I recited every trip outside the wire during my happy funtimes in Afghanistan.
  12. Just finished The Saint In Miami by Leslie Charteris. I am starting Barrack-Room Ballads by Rudyard Kipling - I take great delight in his poetry during the Anglo-Afghan war. "Screw Guns", and "The Fords of Kabul River" are awesome.
  13. There cannot be two skies.

This made me smile. Your path is mine ;)

  14. Warmup: March of Cambreadth by Heather Alexander-this one is best done on a quicktime march. Workout (e.g., run/HIIT/ruck): Cooldown: Barber's Adagio for Strings Far Away from Red Dead Redemption
