  1. Well, I've fallen quite behind with updates. Let me fill you all in on what's been going on with my challenge (spoiler alert: it hasn't been all good). Day 14 Walk/jog 3k followed by playground workout. Day 15 Walk/jog for a while. Not quite sure how far, but I was out for about 45 minutes. I wasn't quite feeling it, but I did hop a fence just for fun. Day 16 Strength body weight workout: Twice through, for time: 50 air squats 1 minute plank 50 supine marches 20 push ups 20 reach throughs per side 25 sit ups Time: 22 minutes Overall, not bad, but I know I can improve. Day 17 (Wednesday 6/19) Rest day. All is good. Day 17/18 No workout due to 14 and 12 hour workdays. Sad face. Also, exhausted face. Day 19 Due to horrible 50 hour work week, took the day as a mental health day. No workout. Day 20 Jog 3k followed by playground workout. Day 21/22 (yesterday and today, 6/25) Nada. I actively chose not to workout yesterday due to sanity reasons and today because of a 12 hour workday. So, as you can see, the working out portion of this is lacking. I can accept that. I've always struggled sticking to a set in stone workout plan. That's why they call this a challenge, right? I'm doing my best to keep up the workouts, but these 12 hour days at work are killing me (and there's no end in sight). On the positive side, it's much easier for me to focus on eating paleo and I've been pretty good about it. I've got some leftover (mostly) paleo green chicken curry and beef chili that I've been eating this week for lunches/dinners, along with paleo banana bread for breakfast. All of this is supplemented by lots of veggies and some almonds. Hooray diet! Tl;dr I skipped a bunch of workouts due to long workdays but I'm eating well.
  2. Day 13 Bike ride this morning, probably about 20 miles (I didn't really check yet). Took about an hour and 40 minutes. My legs can still feel it 9 hours later. Since I was bad this last week, there will be no rest day for me tomorrow. That will be pushed until Wednesday. Tomorrow is back to strength. I'll also be cooking some good paleo meals for the week and stocking up the kitchen again. I do love grocery shopping. Yay!
  3. It's never too late to get back on the horse. I had a rough week, too, so don't feel alone. Just think about how great you'll look at the end of all this!
  4. Fellow Rebels, I have a confession to make: I skipped my workouts two days in a row. I know, I know, there's no such thing as "not enough time." I had the time. I chose not to work out. Tuesday was a 12 hour day at work and Wednesday was 13 hours, so after the 40 minute commute it's quite hard to motivate yourself to do anything else other than eating and sleeping. Luckily, I have a job where I'm on my feet all day, so at least I was somewhat active. It doesn't count toward my challenge, though, I know that. Day 11 Jogged 3k non stop. It felt great! Usually I hate running, but this one wasn't so bad. 5k, here I come! Day 12 (today) Jogged around the block to warm up and then did a quick 26 minute body weight workout. It was tough. I wasn't feeling it mentally, but I made it through and am currently drenched in sweat. This is why I swim. No one can see me sweat. I just turn a nice pink color.
  5. Been a few days, but I've yet to fall off the wagon. Day 6 4.2k walk/jog, with 2k of that non-stop jogging. Progress! Day 7 Rest day. Lots of delicious and nutritious paleo food consumed. Day 8 (today) The weather finally became nice after work so I did a quick 20 minute body weight workout. Tomorrow will be more running/jogging. Hoping to swing by a local farmers market on my trip to scope out some fresh produce to buy. I hope they have some good stuff!
  6. You've got some great goals and attitudes going for you. I know paleo can seem pretty intimidating/expensive, but it's not too bad if you ease into it. Personally, my favorite websites for paleo food are paleomg.com (her meat sauce is fairly cheap if you sub ground beef, not to mention delicious) and civilizedcavemancooking.com. They have some great recipes that you can monkey around with to match your budget and tastebuds. Keep up the awesome challenge!
  7. Uff da. Way to finish even though you almost got eaten. Slap a Hello Kitty Band-Aid on that and go back for more!
  8. Delicious food and great form will always make the day bright. Next time you're having a rough day/moment, just remember my favorite Winston Churchill quote: "If you're going through hell, keep going." As always, remember NF is always here to cheer you up.
  9. Way to kill this challenge. Hope you're feeling better! If not, listen to your body and do everything possible to get better ASAP (lots of veggies, fruit and water, sleeping way more than you think you need to).
  10. Day 5 Happy Friday! Still cold and gloomy outside, but I was brave and went for a warm up jog followed by the playground workout. I tried not to be too creepy when children started to show up to play while I was making weird faces and struggling to to negative pull-ups. Hopefully they aren't scarred for life and their parents won't put a restraining order on me. Oh yeah, and then I finally beat PoE on normal. Geez that took too long. It's a good game, but I think I still prefer my Diablo II/III. I'll forgive you if you disagree with me.
  11. Day 4 Cold and gloomy day outside, so naturally, it was perfect for a walk/jog. I started out too fast and was soon almost crippled by a major side cramp. I won't be doing that again any time soon. All in all, it wasn't a complete loss. I went a total of 2.61 miles (4.20 km). Next run: 2 km without stopping.
  12. You've got some great goals and I think you are going to shatter them. Just make sure to keep positive and think strong thoughts!
  13. You don't know me, but I'm sending you good vibes. Stay strong!
  14. I love that you had a paleo dinner! You know what they say, diet is 80% of success (I can't recall where I read that...). Keep up the good work. I'm definitely cheering for you.
