  1. That is very strange, patch! Have you done any of the water running to help build stability in it?
  2. So does anyone do this? I have a hoop, but I currently suck at it. I was thinking of making a collapsible hoop sometime in the near future and then make it one of my goals for the challenge after this one coming up on Monday. I would love to hear thoughts or see videos or just hear stories about hooping!
  3. So far for that I've just got a list of shit thrown together in Evernote. I should probably organize that!
  4. I had dinner with my folks last night and they tried so very hard to be accepting of me eating a hamburger with lettuce instead of a bun. It was cute. Have you ever heard of the cauliflower pizza crust? I haven't tried it yet but I'm dying to.
  5. I haven't! I'll have to look into her. Right now I've got Kraken from China Mieville and a new Cthluhu anthology waiting for me. I haven't been able to read for pleasure in SO LONG, so I'm really excited.
  6. I like these goals! You should check out some of the other threads here and see how mind-crushingly specific some of them get (which is a good thing). The more specific you are, the more likely you are to get it done!
  7. Oooh spreadsheet! I made one for myself, too, but I can't figure out how to put it in my signature the right way just yet. Such a noob.
  8. You should look into Lynn Flewelling! Love her stuff, and I feel like a lot of it is in line with Martin and Hobb and that sort of thing.
  9. Yeah, I've considered possible goal creep. The thing is, a LOT is changing around week 3 of the challenge, and there are just going to be some extra goals that have been planned for ages. Nothing fitness related, rather lifestyle oriented, but still. At least I'm aware of it!
  10. They are evil, but I'm excited to get better at them. Good luck with yours!
  11. The only problem with that, is that I would need access to water on a regular basis. I think it WOULD be pretty good for me, though. But I'd also be really self conscious...
  12. Oh ok, whew! I can do about... five minutes, maybe. Your baseline is much better! Best of luck!
  13. Which specific exercises are you using to help take care of your knees?
  14. Wow, 45 minutes on the elliptical. How much can you do right now?
  15. Ooooooh magic! My eyes just turned into cartoon hearts!
  16. Best of luck! I know how hard it is to actually make one's self sit down and just write.
  17. Wow, congratulations on already overcoming great obstacles! And you can fight the white demon!
  18. You know, I haven't seen the show! There's a lot of talk about it in my department, of course, but most of us are so busy... The biggest problem I foresee with it is that our knowledge of the religious workings of the Vikings and earlier is really spotty. It wasn't uniform by any means, and they weren't good at keeping records, and they moved a lot, and it was not what we would consider "Western religion." People did not venerate Thor as they do the Christian god now, you know? And for some that's hard to wrap their heads around, so shows tend to come out a little warped. I DO plan on watching it, though, and when I do, I will let you know!
  19. So hard... not to talk... about Scandinavia.... Message me if you ever wanna know about that stuff! I can talk for ages. Yeah, I'm hoping the yoga helps with the pushups and the other way around. I've actually had a tiny bit of experience with surya namaskara (my roommate until a couple days ago was a yoga instructor) so I'm hoping that will help me ease into this challenge (although I still really sucked at the chaturanga, ha).
  20. I like using this "30 day rule" for buying new stuff. If you want to buy something and it is not a true necessity, put it on the "30 day list" with the date you want it next to it, and then the 30 days later date. In thirty days, if you STILL want that item, get it. Spoiler, you almost never care thirty days later. Also, good luck on the stairs. I was an elevator girl for ages, but then I started taking just one flight of stairs to a class, three times a week. Over about two months or so, I went from super huffy puffy to WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE SO SLOW LET'S GO I AM A STAIR MASTER. It feels good!
