  1. I want to make fitness a habit, not something I have to expend a lot of daily will power to make happen. I don't have to decide if I'm going to floss and brush my teeth twice a day or wear my seat belt every time I get in my car. I want these fitness goals to be part of my daily routine. So my main goal is to build on my (modest) success in the last 6 week challenge and hopefully really groove in these habits: 30 minutes of aerobic exercise first thing every morning I'll have to get up at 5:00. I'll either do recumbent bicycle or walk. 40+ days=A 35-39 days=B 21-34 days=C 7-20 days=D >7 days=F Keep a food log I've been vegetarian for several years now. I'm trying to get my head around eating some fish, because I think I need a source of lean protein. I do eat eggs, nuts and beans and rice etc but feel like I graze around (i.e. overeat) sometimes because I don't feel full. Any input from people who have gone through this would be welcomed. Never the less, I want to eat "clean" and writing down everything keeps me on track. same scale as above Strength/endurance workouts at least 4 times per week I want to go to cross fit 3 times per week. I also am trying to improve my swimming skills, and intend to work on my strokes and do some pool drills that I think would qualify as strength building. So some combination of pool and/or gym 4 times per week. 26+days=A 19-25days=B 12-24days=C 5-11days=D <5 days=F Side Quest: Write! Last quest my goal was to write daily, but that produced random scribbles. I want to get at least 3 articles in my local paper during this challenge. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you better Have a great first week!
  2. That's wonderful Kat, you did really well
  3. I did get back on track, happy that I finished the 6 weeks and didn't bail I'll get some grades up soon
  4. Hi Tulo Grats on the fitness success! I'm the least happy with my writing progress too. Are you planning on doing the next challenge?
  5. Hi there I'm so glad your week has been good--it's great to finish strong
  6. I pretty much fell off the wagon during vacation, so I'll count up my point deficit and start up again tomorrow. Maybe this will increase my incentive to write and swim as a way to make up for lost points
  7. Hi there Just checking in to say hope you have a great week
  8. Yay Kat! We spent the rainiest 4th of july ever up in the North Carolina Mountains. I just kinda threw in the towel, but I'm ready to get back on track tomorrow. I hope you have a great week
  9. Hi guys We are going out of town for a few days. Will keep my food log and can do push ups, but expect to be dinged on other goals, will update when we return Happy 4th of July
  10. I looked back at my records for the first 3 weeks. Out of a possible 4 points per day (one point for each goal) I'm 83 out of 84 possible points. I don't want to fizzle out, especially over the week of July 4th, so I really appreciate everyone's encouragement. Have a great week 4
  11. Yay for staying on track while traveling. I would love to see pictures of your costumes. I hope you have a good week
  12. Great work! It's hard to believe we are at the half way mark. Good luck with your sleep goals this week
  13. I totally agree that the scale is a tool but not the best indicator of progress or overall fitness. I haven't taken pictures, but I have some basic measurements and will get my BMI/fat percentage rechecked post challenge.
  14. So sorry about the stomach virus. I abolished stomach bug from my vocabulary after an explanatory faux pas regarding my then three or four year old son's first bout of gastric distress. The look of horror as he clearly visualized large insects roaming his insides lent new meaning to the term "bug eyed"

    Aggi round 3

Hi Aggi hope you have a great weekend
  16. Hi there I hope your writing and fitness goals have stayed on track have a good weekend Lisa
  17. Hi there I hope your life has become less hectic looking forward to hearing from you
  18. Hi there I think I'm going to have to rethink my daily squats. My left knee has been persistently puffy. No pain, but I have had problems in the past and don't want to aggravate it back to a bad place. I'm going to continue with the incline push ups daily but save the squats for my crossfit days. Again sorry to have to tweak my goals. My body weight exercise goals were in retrospect way to ambitious for my newbie self. Otherwise pleased with progress, made it to the pool Thursday, hope to go again this weekend. Food log continuing smoothly and getting my 30 minutes aerobic almost every day so far. Plan to write this weekend, but plan to do it every weekend, so we'll see. Hope everyone has a great weekend
  19. Hi We are in high allergy season in Tennessee, so I think it was sinus related. I feel better now, and had a pretty good week Thanks, hope you have a good weekend
  20. Yay you for the full minute of plank Hope you have a good weekend
  21. Hi Doug Good luck on the dissertation. Great work on your exercise and diet goals Lisa
  22. Hi Lisa I hope your sciatica is better soon. I'm proud of you for not abandoning ship, and still doing what you can. I hope you have a great weekend Lisa
  23. Hi Tulo Just dropping by to say great work and keep it up this week Lisa
  24. Just a quick update: I didn't have a very good day yesterday...very busy at work and developed a bad headache, which is unusual for me. I kept my food log but didn't make my other daily goals. However I'm back on track today. And I've lost a little over four pounds since the challenge start. I think the combination of food log and fairly consistent 30 min aerobic exercise is doing the trick I hope everyone is having a good week! Lisa
  25. Hi there I hope that your challenge is still going well. I agree with you that the ability to make good food choices is sometimes inversely proportional to how hungry a person is Staying hydrated helps me not mistake hunger for thirst, so maybe your hydration goals will help. I find that sometimes I'm better off planning for a small indulgence (a cookie and coffee after supper)--it helps me stay on track better than being too rigid and then having a big lapse (fistful of cookies standing at the open kitchen cabinet door on my way to bed) I hope you have a great week Lisa
