  1. The challenge is going pretty well. Getting up at 8:00 am everyday isn't going as well as it should be! BPC is easy enough. I haven't been meditating in the little chunks that are my ideal. But cramming it in when I have the free time. I'm not sure how 'having' to meditate is working. It felt more natural when I would practice just for the sake of practicing it. Either way 'having' to meditate for five more weeks won't have any lasting harm and is a daily habit I'm trying to build. The 5x5 program feels too little. I like exercising and working out. At the same time it's hard to find the time to do even the 5x5 program some days.
  2. The founder of Bulletproofexecutive.com got the idea for BPc from Tibetian guides that live high in the himalaya mountains. They make theirs with hot tea & yak butter. If you can handle tea instead of coffee it might be worth trying. I'd personally skip the yak butter for cow butter ... maybe not! I like to try new things!
  3. My goals are a bit scattered this challenge because I listened to a podcast that talked about forming habits. The long term goal I want to achieve is to wake up at 6:00 am drink my bulletproof coffee breakfast, go for a 3 mile run / walk, shower and then meditate. Habits are not run / walk every morning, those are goals. But waking up early each morning to have enough time to do those things is a habit. Habits are the long term building blocks for your goals. So I'm starting from the ground up. I've always been a night owl so I started with 8:00 am instead of jumping directly to 6:00 am. I've been drinking Bulletproof coffee (BPc) off and on for a few weeks now. I get very focused on the mornings when I drink it. I was curious if it was just the amount of caffeine that I didn't normally drink in the mornings so I ran a test. I compared a Subway flatbread sandwich plus 2 cups of coffee, to just BPc. The sandwich has ~200 more calories and 60 grams of carbs. Eating Subway and drinking the coffee didn't give me the focused feeling. I won't claim to understand why no salt butter, coconut oil, coffee and a pack of stevia give me the focused feeling but it does. Only when I wake up early enough to make it! I haven't found any local markets with grass fed butter, folgers coffee works well enough, eventually I'll compare coconut oil to the MCT oil from the website.
  4. Bulletproof coffee is 8oz of coffee, 1 tablespoon of no salt butter and a tablespoon of coconut oil or MTC oil. Basically its a no carb all fat breakfast that is filling and doesn't stop the ketogenic cycle from fasting during sleep. It tastes just like coffee with cream, I put a pack or two of Stevia in because I like my sugar with coffee and cream ...! The idea is from bulletproofexecutive.com, the website is more or less paleo.

Towards the end of the last one, needing to get at least four in per week made it feel almost like a job, which made it far less enjoyable for me. I'll still be taking as many classes as I can though.
  6. Week 6 (7/15) FiFo Fat: 250.6 Muscle Memory: 0/4 (0%) Walking Woe: 0/9 (0%) Hyper Hydration: 448/448 (100%) Final Scores FiFo Fat: Starting Weight = 256.2 Final Weight = 250.6 Weight Loss = 5.6 5.6/12 * 100 = 46.66% F (+0 Dex, +0 Sta, +0 Con) Muscle Memory: 18 classes / goal of 24 = 75% C (+1 Str, +1 Dex) Walking Woe: 39 walked / goal of 63 = 61% D (+0.5 Sta, +0.5 Con) Hyper Hydration: 2560 drank / goal of 2688 = 95.23% A (+1 Sta, +2 Wis)
  7. Week 4 (7/8) FiFo Fat: I'm not going to weigh in again until the last day of the challenge. Muscle Memory: 2/4 (50%) Walking Woe: 9/9 (100%) Hyper Hydration: 416/448 (93%) My Krav gym was closed for a couple days around the 4th it messed up my routine a bit. Posted early because I don't have to worry about the weigh in being ultra accurate until next week.
  8. Week 4 (7/1) FiFo Fat: I wasn't home to weigh myself this morning. This challenge isn't graded on a weekly average so it won't matter. Muscle Memory: 4/4 (100%) Walking Woe: 3/9 (33.33%) Hyper Hydration: 448/448 (100%) I made plans with a friend to walk 6 miles on Saturday ... we ended up doing something else. I tried to cram all 9 miles in on Sunday. I might have made it if I didn't need to go inside my house to fill up my water bottle. The AC just drained my energy. Excuses, excuses, but it's only one week. I'm too stubborn to stop now!
  9. Week 3 (6/24) FiFo Fat: 254.2lbs (2lbs lost total. Gained 1.2lbs for the week) Muscle Memory: 6/4 (100%) Walking Woe: 9/9 (100%) Hyper Hydration: 448/448 (100%) Now I remember why I'm the kind of dieter that doesn't keep a close watch on the scale! I was best man at my previously mentioned BFF wedding this week. I didn't eat too horribly but I wasn't as careful as I should have been I guess! I'm running low on motivation to be better about my diet. I sometimes have to make myself walk for Walking Woe. The only thing keeping me from doing more Krav classes per week is the time it takes to get there, back, and for the actual class. Water isn't too hard, I always had a drink with me in the car before now it just has water instead of a diet drink. We'll see what the scale says next week this could have just been one of those unexplainable weight variances.
  10. Week 2 (6/17) FiFo Fat: 253.0lbs (3.2 lost total. lost 0.6bs for the week) Muscle Memory: 4/4 (100%) Walking Woe: 9/9 (100%) Hyper Hydration: 352/448 (78.5%) This past week life caught up with me and tried to take me off of my game. I went to the funeral for my BFF's grandpa, a concert with a few friends, and a co-worker had his appendix removed so I had to cover some of his shifts. Life got so crazy that I almost didn't make Muscle Memory or Walking Woe. I crammed two classes and walking six miles into yesterday and still had to work afterward. I was mentally & a little physically exhausted, but I did it. Hyper Hydration fell short this week. I spend a lot of time away from home this past week, being around people drinking soda, made it too hard to choose water. This week I should be back to my usual routine.
  11. Challenge Day 2 Muscle Memory Maximization is completed for the first week. I did one class yesterday and three today. I'll still be doing Krav every day that I can even though I won't give myself any extra credit! Hyper Hydration is going well so far. I haven't had time to get the walking miles in but that's first on my to do list tomorrow.
  12. If my Krav gym suddenly closed, I'd be in more than a tailspin!
  13. I quit smoking two years ago with Chantix. It costs about as much as buying a pack of cigarettes per day, with or without insurance. It worked for 6 months then I had a major stressor and used cigarettes as a crutch to get through it. I quit again almost three months ago and I'm doing well this time. I didn't use Chantix this time because I didn't have the upfront cash needed. However you decide to quit (not try, there is no try, only do), I highly recommend buying sugar free gum to give yourself something to do when you think you need a cigarette. Careful the gum can get as expensive as the smoking was!
