  1. Goals one and four are complete! Haven't gotten to work on two or three much what with all the rain, but still. Yay! Go me! Haha. I think this is the first time I've been back to Nerd Fitness practically since I signed up, I was meaning to participate in everything but real-life got crazy busy, so I haven't had time for the internet. GASP. Me not being on the interwebs is practically unheard of. I'm not sure when this challenge ends, but I'm going to the island for the summer for work (driving up tonight and all tomorrow in fact), so I'm not sure if I'll be on here much at all after this post. I don't know if I'll have time, or if my ancient laptop will even allow me to access the internet. Anyways, in case I'm not able to come back to this-- I'll keep working on my goals, and thank you my fellow Assassins and nerd-fitness fellows for inspiring me on this journey. Keep up the good work everybody!
  2. Okay, I already wrote this out once, but accidentally deleted it, so I'm a little frustrated. Here goes, take two! My advice for daily writing would be to never start with a blank page. I know, that seems weird, right? How can you start something new if you already have something there? The thing is, a blank page can be one of the most intimidating things to a new writer. It can leave you staring at it for long hours only to finally give in and be like: "yeah, I got nothing." Everyone usually thinks that beginnings are hard. What most people don't realize, is it's not the beginning that's hard, it's getting started. So, eliminate the blank page. Eliminate the getting started part of each days writing-- by already having something on the page when you start. When you're done writing for the day, try opening a new page for what you're going to write the next day-- then jot down a few ideas or phrases that you like the sound of, so that when you go to write the next day, you have something. That way, you're not beginning, you're not getting started, you're just continuing. Good luck in your writing endeavours!
  3. I do at least 20 pushups and 10 pullups per day. I could never choose just one. Push or pull? I'll always choose both.
  4. Good luck on your goals! If you need any help with writing 500 words a day, give me a shout. I'm a massive writer (Nanowrimo winner of the last 3 years) so maybe I can help motivate you?
  5. I sort of do Parkour. I've always scaled walls and things instead of going around, but I've never actually put it together, until now. I live in a very nature-y area, so I'm planning on practicing rolls in a field (probably at the local elementary school, as they also have a playground that I could use to practice climbing) I'm hoping to get others interested and involved so I don't have to do it alone.
  6. Willpower. Have enough of that and nothing will stop you!
  7. A new adventure doesn't have to be hard, or maybe it has already begun? My six week goals are as follows: #1. I'd like very much to be able to do 20 chin ups in a single day. I was going to say in a single rep, but since I can only do four at a time right now, I don't think that would be very realistic. STR- 5 #2. I want to be able to flawlessly pull off a break-fall roll. It's necessary for Parkour, but I get so nervous that I always hesitate and screw up. Something about rolling makes me nervous. I want to overcome that. DEX- 2 CON- 1 WIS-2 #3. I want to get good enough at scaling walls that it takes seconds instead of minutes. This one will probably be the easiest for me, as it's something I can already do-- I just need to cut my time down. DEX- 2 STR- 1 STA- 1 #4. I want... no, need, to convince my dad that I can take care of myself and that I’ll be fine living in the city for the summer. I'm 23, nearly 24, but he is very protective and still sees me as a kid. I'm going either way, but if I get my way, I won’t have to call home every hour on the hour to let my parents know I'm still alive. I may be exaggerating a little, but I don't think so. CHA- 1 I'll post a before picture when I get the time
  8. Okay. Hi! Wow. I never know how to start these things. Whenever I introduce myself I always sound like I'm introducing myself at an AA meeting. It's something I'm working on, badly. Heh. So, I found this place a few hours back while looking up parkour videos looking for new moves. At first, I didn't know what I was looking at. A group of nerds that are into fitness? I had never heard such a thing. All my nerd friends live their entire lives in virtual space, hardly surfacing to the real world at all. I thought I was alone in that I wanted more. I was never happy just being awesome in video games, I want to be awesome in real life too. Now I know I'm not alone. So thank you Nerd Fitness! Anyways... I started working out around eleven months ago when my friend and I went for a walk in a park and I got horribly out of breath after climbing a long staircase. We were both panting and had to sit down. Neither of us were overweight, in fact, quite the opposite. She's underweight and I'm barely on the line above being the same. But we weren't healthy. we weren't strong or in shape. We were wasting our lives. I was only 22 at the time, and I decided that enough was enough. I'm 23 now, almost 24, and in the last eleven months I've done more than I thought possible, but I've started to lose my drive, doing it all by myself. (I've recently done the 100 pushup program, 200 sit ups program, and the 200 squat program) So, a bit about me. I'm 5'2, 107 pounds. I'm not really that athletic, or at least, I don't see myself that way. Parkour doesn't count yet, because I'm only a beginner. I'm an Artist, Gamer, Writer, and Photographer (among other things) I work out a lot, but I don't go to the gym (can't afford it, and even if I could, have no way of getting there) so most of my workouts involve my own bodyweight (push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, running, and Zumba... that sort of thing) Anyways... I've rambled on enough I think.
  9. I'm with Kort. I saw this intro and was like, 'Yeah, I definitely need to be a part of this!'
