  1. Sounds like you had agreat first day! I'm impressed with your mile walk. Making a pit stop at the park for some playtime is a great idea. You are going to be setting a great example for your kids!
  2. I just joined the group! I'm also moving from a sedentary lifestyle. My goals involve eating better, getting some exercise, and getting my house ready to rent (which I figure is going to involve some exercise!). I'm really excited about this!
  3. I've been lurking around for months, and have finally decided to participate in a challenge. I'm really motivated to improve my life before my birthday in August, and also help my son start off the next school feeling better about himself. This is going to be a whole family effort, including the dog. A bit about myself - I'm a single mom of 2 - a 6 yr old boy, and an 8 yr old Akita. Over the last few years, I've really let myself go. No legit excuses, just sheer laziness and using food as a coping tool. Even my poor pooch has gained weight and has no energy. My son isn't overweight for his height (yet), but I'm horrified to admit that we don't eat very healthy. So, he's my real motivation, and my biggest supporter. The dog is just coming along for the exercise. I just quickly came up with these, I'll assign points and a more detailed plan for each later this week. 1. Track my food intake - write it down, no matter how awful. I'm not really going to count calories or anything right now. I'm simply going to keep track of what I eat and how much. Goal #2 will help me keep my calories under control naturally (that my hope anyway). 2. Eliminate grains - Due to my son's peanut allergy and casein sensitivity, we've already eliminated dairy and legumes. During various elimination diets to figure out what else he is sensitive to, I have finally come to the conclusion that grains really don't like us. I've been in denial about this, but it's time to embrace our truth. Grains have got to go. Might as well embrace a more paleo lifestyle. 3. Exercise a bit every day - My plan for this is do yoga 3 days a week and either walk or ride my bike 3 days a week. My goal is to be doing 45 min, 3 days a week of each by the end of the challenge. 4. Have house ready to rent by end of challenge - TO save money, and help my parents out, we're moving in with them and renting out my home. We've been talking about doing this for 3 years now...it's about time to actually take action! There's so much to get done, so my first step with this goal will be to create a timeline to get it done by July 15th. I'll update this when I've had some time to think about points/rewards and a more detailed action plan.
