  1. Sounds like the lifting is going great for you, Loanna. And you've got two more weeks to boost those numbers! You've got me wanting to add strength training into the regimen for the next go. Huzzah for Pathfinder. We have a weekly Sunday group with 3 campaigns in rotation now.
  2. Whoops... let myself get behind this week. Or maybe I just got buried at work and with LV trip preparations. Don't entirely remember what I ate on all these days, but I stayed on target with the Whole 30. It's going way too well for me to give it up. Day 22: Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (96.23 CT) Day 23: Not walking is like a guilty pleasure. Still got up at 5am, but treated myself to an hour on the couch with the season premiere of BatB (a true guilty pleasure, lol). Day 24: Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (101.28 CT - I hit my 100 mile goal!!!). Day 25: Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miiles (106.33 CT). Made a concentrated effort to pick up my pace and logged my best time yet, averaging 16:13/mile. Went to the grocery store and browsed the beer and wine aisle, looking for a seasonal brew to celebrate my 30 days with next week... and I ended up with Godiva Pumpkin Spice coffee instead. Oh, how three and a half weeks can change a girl. Day 26: Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miiles (111.38 CT). Moar speed!! 15:56/mile today. This is Day 26 of my Whole 30, and I really can't believe how my appetite and cravings have changed. Work is treating us to lunch today at Ruby Tuesday's and I'm so ready for some salad bar action.
  3. I considered the women's academy, but got kind of turned off when it said it's intended for beginners. I mean, I'm no expert, but I'm not sure I classify myself as a beginner. And then there was the cost, yeah. Got too much going on financially with the LV trip, Offspring's bday, and Christmas all coming up quick.
  4. Day 19: Not having batches of food prepared is killer when you're trying to eat well. Had to rely on lunch at Longhorn again. Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (73.8 CT)Breakfast - MIAMorning snack - Plum and almondsLunch - Longhorn's Steakhouse burger (sans bun and pickles) and sweet potato w/cinnamonDinner - Grilled chicken salad Day 20: Killed it on the walk, crapped out on the diet (quantity, not quality). Walk to Mordor - +8.12 miles (81.92 CT)Breakfast - NadaLunch - Grilled chicken saladDinner - *Ahem*... nada Day 21: Yay, I made breakfast! After a killer walk, my body wasn't about to wait half a day to eat again. Walk to Mordor - +9.26 miles (91.18 CT)Breakfast - Diced sweet potatoes sauteed in EVOO with onion, garlic, and seasonings, plus 2 eggs over easyLunch - TBDDinner - TBDAnd it's the end of Week Three!!!! STAT CHECK: Beginning weight 177.8 | End weight 166.0 = (11.8) lbs total released back into the wildBeginning inches 292.625 | End inches 282.00 = (10.625) inches melted offGetting close to an official drop in size! I'm hovering on the edge of a 12, with some fitting and some being a bit tight still Thank you!
  5. Day 17: Worried a little slip n' slide adventure at work might sideline me, but I woke up at 4:50 or so, ready to go. Starting to just feel amazing overall. Food cravings have diminished to just the occasional twinge or fond memory. Didn't prepare much in the way of food this week, and it's showing. Have to step it up for next week, as I'm pretty sure I'm not consuming enough calories or vegetables. Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (63.7 CT)Morning snack - PlumLunch - Longhorn's Steakhouse burger (sans bun and pickles) and sweet potato w/cinnamon (topped my LTO with some balsamic and it was amazing with the burger)Dinner - Pork roast and sugar snap peasDay 18: Worked on a book cover job last night and crashed shortly after 9pm. Body is definitely getting used to the 5am wake up. Woke again at about 4:50 and got ready for my walk. Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (68.75 CT)Breakfast - Black coffee and almonds (I really need to figure out some pre-made breakfasts or something)Morning snack - BananaLunch - Subway Double chopped chicken salad with O&VAfternoon snack - AlmondsDinner - Burgers w/LTO and balsamic, steamed broccoli It's one of the best.
  6. Pain didn't last the night, thank goodness. Woke this morning ready to hit the pavement. Woohoo! Let's do this!
  7. No, no, no. How did this just happen? Went out to the water cooler for a refill and discovered a trail of extremely slippery chemical drippage. With my foot. While walking. Stayed standing, but my right ankle turned and my right knee was wrenched in all sorts of wrong ways. Reported the incident and spill to the office mgr and owner. Now I hurry up and wait to see how bad the damage is.
  8. Day 16: Eep. I leave for Vegas in 15 days! I may need a wardrobe overhaul by then. One of my coworkers grabbed the leg of my slacks this morning, laughing as she waved all the loose fabric. In life goal news, I'm rewriting chapter 1 of the book I want out before the end of the challenge. Still getting the snooze-alert from my beta readers... it just reads too slow. Took this morning off from all the walking and got a fresh take on the events started. Emailed it to beta #1 and got back a wholehearted approval. I'm on the right track! Breakfast - Sweet potato hash (seasoned, pan-fried potatoes topped with an over easy egg)Morning snack - BananaLunch - Treated myself to a Subway Chopped Salad, Double Chicken variety. Yum.Afternoon snack - PlumDinner - Seasoned chicken and roasted asparagus Hell yeah, I am. And it is working for me.
  9. Eep. Glad to see folks hanging in there. Doc, don't feel too bad. I've only read 2 books this year (probably shouldn't admit that as a writer, lol). Robin, glad to see you're getting back on track this week. *\o/* And Nusuth, have a great vacation!
  10. Day 15: Week 3, woohoo! I usually take Monday mornings off, but I got out of bed this morning and hit the pavement. Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (58.65 CT)Breakfast - 2 eggs over mediumMorning snack - BananaLunch - Baked chicken and green beansAfternoon snack - AlmondsDinner - Grilled pork chops and baked sweet potato fries
  11. Week 2 Round Up! Have we lost anyone to the walkers yet? It's still awfully quiet in here. I'm on day 15 of my Whole 30 challenge and beyond the amazing body changes, I'm hitting the point where the grieving stage is easing up. My fiance ate McDonald's in the car today, and aside from an appreciation of the scent of the burgers, I didn't even have a twinge of 'Oh, dear God, I want that. Now.' My increased distances on my weekend walks are proving a nice addition to my challenge. I covered over 15 miles this weekend! How is the challenge going for everyone? Albeus, thank you so much. I'm really hoping to hit my donation goal. I'm 26% of the way there.
  12. Day 14: I survived two weeks?! STAT CHECK: Beginning weight 177.8 | End weight 169.4 = (8.4) lbs total released back into the wild Beginning inches 292.625 | End inches 285.00 = (7.625) inches melted off Much smaller changes this week. My weight yoyo'd all week until this morning, finally dropping a little. Melted another inch and a quarter away. WOW, am I starting to see the payoff. When I started my first challenge here, I was on the verge of buying bigger clothes because everything was so tight. Now I am trying on (and fitting into) the smallest stuff in my closet! Back later to update for the day. Now it's time to put my walking shoes on. Walk to Mordor - +8.14 miles (53.6 CT - over halfway to my goal, woohoo!) Breakfast - 2 eggs over hard with sauteed onions Lunch - Went out with Offspring to Ruby Tuesday and had their Vegetable Trio (brocc, green beans, and sweet potato fries... they got rid of the grilled asparagus, boo) and salad bar Dinner - Baked chicken and green beans
  13. Day 12: Ankle issues felt okay today, so I risked a consecutive trek... and survived! Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (38.4 CT)Breakfast - N/AMorning snack - AlmondsLunch - Paleo chiliAfternoon snack - GrapefruitDinner - Pot roast leftovers Day 13: Feeling good again, yay! Walk to Mordor - +7.08 miles (45.48 CT)Breakfast - Black coffee (I need to do some grocery shopping, eep)Lunch - Sweet potato "home fries" (sauteed in evoo, with onion, cayenne, garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper)Afternoon snack - grapefruitDinner - Home fries leftovers
  14. Day 11: I may or may not have been late to work this morning... owing entirely to quality time poking through my closet and trying on things that haven't fit in years. Can't be too mad about running late when you're modeling the lovely things you couldn't quite let go of (just in case they ever fit again). Doing some research today into exercises for my over pronation issues. My walks this week have been about an hour of feeling like I might puke from unpleasant sensations followed by half an hour of feeling almost warmed up, followed by a day or so of swelling and tenderness. Both ankle bones are tender and hot to the touch. Walk to Mordor - +5.05 miles (33.35 CT)Breakfast - Black coffee and almondsLunch - Meatballs in sauce and saladDinner - Pot Roast
