  1. LOL, so I have to ask, how many Canadians (or living in Canada) do we have here? *Raises Hand*
  2. You are just a wonderful supporter! Thank you!
  3. Honestly, Week 1 didn't go as well as I planned! Success - Drinking the required water every day. Halfway There - Did my physio exercises 5 out of 7 days this week. Needs Improvement - Only wrote for 10 minutes, not 60 mins. Epic Fail - No running this week. Rained all week and I don't have a gym membership. Need to supplement running with some other form of exercise during rainy times. Totally my fault that I was lazy. Must strive to do better! Yes, last week was a disappointment, but I'm moving forward! I hope everyone did better than I this week and kicked some butt!
  4. I'm trying for the recommended 8 cups a day (which is 8 oz each., approximately 2 litres per day). I have a half litre bottle on my desk at work, so I try to drink at least 2-3 of those during the day and at least 1 at night.
  5. I like to write fantasy fiction, but it has been a very long time. I can't wait to start back into it (and I will! By the end of this week!). The Zombies, Run! app is amazing, you have certain missions to complete, and at the end of the mission (which often involves zombies chasing you) you collect items along the way, and return to your base camp to upgrade your base camp. I'm not the far yet - I'm doing the Zombies, Run 5km app (separate app, by the same creators) which trains you slowly - right now I am doing walk, run, then walk interval training to build myself up to a full run. It is a good way to learn how to run, build muscle, and protect yourself from injury. If you are already a runner though I would suggest bypassing the 5KM app. It also links to a website that shows you your distance (if you use the gps on your phone) and keeps track of your stats, which is pretty neat. You know, besides the obvious awesomeness of running away from zombies!
  6. Good question! I don't know lol! I started Zombies, Run 5km which trains you slowly - it is a walk, then run, the walk interval training, so I am not sure how far I can go just start on jogging yet. I tend to be super competitive with myself and know if I don't start with this program then I will run too hard and get shin splints or something awful. I'm hoping by the end of the 6 weeks that won't be a problem!!!!
  7. High five Jonesy, those are great! I love how you are making it fun and not a chore! I'm the same way with my house..."messy bed, messy head" syndrome for sure. If I come home to a messy house I find that I don't have any motivation. I'm rooting for you!
  8. Those goals sound great! Good luck with the pop, it can be addicting! I always keep a bottle of water on my desk so I'm not tempted to run to the corner store for a "pick me up".
  9. Hey Everyone! Just joined and super excited! And nervous as well. This is my first challenge too! I'm ready to kick some butt! http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/29884-emmies-first-challenge/?hl=emmie
  10. Good luck!!!!! I'm rooting for you!
  11. So far it has been great! It is the only thing that keeps me motivated to run and not just wimp out and head back home. I started the Zombies, Run! 5km already. Slow and steady to start off - I don't want to hurt myself and be out for the next six weeks!
  12. Good luck! Those are some great goals! I am such a chicken when it comes to biking/rollerblading on the road. That is something I need to work towards too (maybe the next six week challenge? lol). Good luck with everything!!
  13. Thanks everyone! Such a fantastic community! Good luck to everyone!!!!
  14. I have been reading NerdFitness for a while, but this is my first attempt at the challenge. I read the role playing articles, but I don't think I am there yet. It took quite a lot of me fretting to even post this, since I don't often like putting myself out there on display for others! However, I have found the NerdFitness community so welcoming and supportive I thought I would try it out: Goals: #1 - Run 5Km without stopping. I have terrible cardio. I am starting Zombies Run 5Km since nothing says fun run like zombie apocalypse! #2 - Do my physio exercises ever day. I am supposed to do them twice a day (exercises for my shoulder) but right now I am doing nothing. I have to build up my strength in my shoulder before I can start any upper body weight training over 5lbs. #3 - Increase my hydration levels - I find myself dehydrated throughout the day. #4 - Write 1 hour per week. I used to love fiction writing but have stopped over the years. It doesn't have to be all at once - but in grand total 1 hour per week. I kind of feel like Link finding his first sword and stumbling around a bit. I have a lot of knowledge about fitness (I think this is an article somewhere about reading to much and not doing it...) but need to get in some action. Perhaps this will hold me accountable, since the princess I am saving is myself!
