  1. Hello amazing people! I missed being on here yesterday - I work online/from home and when I have stuff due I will close off everything else so I can focus on getting work done. Also, I didn't realize there was a page two on this thread...derp! Day #3 - time to get real! Remind yourself what you want and why you want it each time you are tempted to skip a workout or 'cheat' on your eating plan (this doesn't count if you have cheats built in). Since I work from home, I have signs up all over my house (mirror, refrigerator, computer monitor) to motivate and remind myself why I need to get healthy. That being said, if yesterday was a crappy day goal-wise then guess what? TODAY IS A NEW DAY! We get to start over every day! Improve a little bit (small steps) from the day before and do this! One of my inspiration photos that rotates as my desktop background is below. This one is so true for me...I've been overweight since I had my daughter FIFTEEN years ago. What have I been waiting for? I have a hectic day ahead, but I will be back on late tonight to check on how your day went - and to say hello to those of you that haven't had a chance to be on here much. I hope you all have an AMAZING day!
  2. This is excellent! The CSA farm I just started getting veggies from gave me so many greens - I need a way to use them up (I hate wasting food), and my daughter loves salads too. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Hello! Technically it's full up - the sign up spreadsheet for Adventures is found here. Please pop in anytime to share inspiration and let us know how you're doing!
  4. I'm so glad you chose the team name - thanks for that! Do you watch Doctor Who? Great episode on water and it's persistence. One or two things done really well is always better than many things done so-so....or that's what I keep trying to tell my multi-tasking teenager.
  5. You are awesome!!! I have an alarm set on my phone for 11:00 - I have to go to bed by then if I'm still up. Otherwise it will be 2am and I'm still trying to get stuff done. Last night I went to bed at 10:30, but forgot to shut it off so it woke me up at 11. I'm happy you're motivated and eager to run! Yay!
  6. Sounds like we should stick to seven main members - although anyone is welcome to comment and inspire! If you're not on the spreadsheet for this group, please CLICK HERE to find a support group to join. If you're not an adventurer you can find your tab at the bottom. Many new groups have been added since I was on there this afternoon - throw your name in there somewhere!
  7. The spreadsheet has seven slots - probably so they won't get too big and then people can slip through. We don't want that! I was actually trying to find this out - will let you know when I do! Thanks!
  8. I love the couch to 5K Program because it's already figured out. You've got this!
  9. Please let me know if I can help you in any way - I'm brand new too! I went to THIS THREAD and clicked on "Start New Topic." If you're not an 'Adventurer," then GO HERE to find your herd. I love your quote!
  10. Looking forward to it - you remembered to pop in today - yay! Visit when you can - we all have jobs and stuff.
  11. Excellent! I always feel better after I exercise - it's the starting it that gets me. Keep up the great work!
  12. Wow! What a first day! I'm new to NF, so figuring out where to post had me all over the site. Reading inspirational stories, familiar struggles, and words of hope kept me busy - and for me busy means no time to snack on junk food, so THANK YOU! Since we are the "Small Steps" group, think about what small step you are starting TODAY (if you don't have one already). ONE AT A TIME. Give it a few days, a week, or a few weeks for it to become a healthy habit, and then start on the next one on your list. We've read each other's (totally awesome) goals - but we can't do all of them right now. My first small step is going to be eating Paleo. I've read that this change will help more than exercise, so I'm starting here (but still getting some fitness in). I've promised myself if it isn't on the list I can't have it. I've checked my little Paleo app many times over the past few days to make sure. I almost bought some corn, thinking it's a veggie, but NOPE! By the way, how the heck do you pronounce Paleo? I don't want to say it wrong and sound like a dork....dorkier than usual. See you tomorrow Steppers! Day one DOWN! (almost) What kind of creature will you emerge as in six weeks?
  13. So it's pretty awesome to have people cheering you on! I've always kept quiet about fitness goals...that's probably why they haven't worked. This first day was cool - I actually started my eating goals last Friday, so now I'm making sure my fitness ones started today. Day one down (well, almost)! Thanks for the almond butter advice - I will be trying that!
  14. Thanks so much for the welcome! This is my first challenge. I actually found NF just last week - perfect timing! This is me...
  15. If new people can join, count me in!
  16. Hello! I'm Kit, and here is our new team thread! Yay for giving up soda! I only drink it while eating out, but since I'm ditching that too I should be soda-free as well. I love that you're doing the couch to 5K program - it has very specific times to follow, and has it all planned out. Keep us updated on how that goes! Yoga - YES! It will help with more than just flexibility. There are plenty of videos on YouTube - to help you teach yourself, especially while you're not at home right now. You've got this! I can't wait to hear how you progress!
  17. Hello! Thanks so much for adding to the team thread! You rock! I love that you're going to eat healthy for lunch - I notice that when I have a heavy, carb-loaded lunch I always feel cruddy and sleepy after. I will be happy to lose that! Huge change - going back to school! Congratulations on that - I think people should love what they do. I hope it's a smooth transition for you. We've got this!
  18. Hello! I'm Kit, and here is our new team thread! I don't understand the points either - but I saw that it was optional so I didn't worry about it. Hopefully someone else has helped you with that! I love that you're going to figure out what exercise works for you, and also how your focus is more on being healthy than losing weight. I'm also someone that keeps meaning to start...then doesn't quite do it. I'm about to hit 40, and so I really need to figure this out. I also do a lot of sitting with my work, and being unhealthy just adds to the stress I put on myself. We've got this - I can't wait to see the improvement each week in what we can do and how we feel!
  19. Hello! I'm Kit, and here is our new team thread! I love that you're taking lunch - it will help out with money, last minute unhealthy choices and cravings. There's actually some type of diet plan called the 'cooler diet" or something like that where you pack all of your food for the day in a small cooler, and then you can grab something when hungry. When it's empty you're out of luck for the rest of the day. I'm going low/no carb as well - it's my downfall. Sounds like you've got a great plan to help with that. You've got this!
  20. Hello! I'm Kit, and here is our new team thread. Wow - you are one busy lady! I totally remember being a 'single parent' due to the military. Your kiddos are lucky to have you home with them. I love that you can teach dancing - get paid to work out! That is awesome! Setting a good example for your kiddos by skipping the fries too is amazing. You've got this!
  21. Hello! I'm Kit, and here is our new team thread. I love your mind map! I'm a teacher, and we are always pushing those things. Yay on saying no to the vending machine too. That's awesome! We've got this!
  22. Hello! No one was in the top spot for this team so I snagged it...because I think it will help me be more accountable. I'm more likely to do things for other people than myself. Here is my initial thread: I'm getting ready to search for the listed members, but if you see this first please add your thread to it so we can see what our challenges are. I would have to say that my first small step is remembering to do this 'getting healthy' thing. I have created many bad habits over the years that have become true habits...and I forget that I want to change them, usually after I've eaten some pizza or gone to a buffet. I can't wait to get to know you all! Kit
  23. Female, 39 - I want to be on the path to being fit before I turn 40 in July. Diet/fitness goals: 1. Follow my ab routine/calendar (you've seen them on facebook) which includes sit-ups, crunches, leg-raises, planks and squats. Start on my treadmill at 10 minutes and increase it by one minute a day to 20 minutes, and then start an interval/sprint increasing schedule (and then increase that 20 min twice a day). 2. Start on the Paleo diet/eating style and find an acceptable for peanut butter - I can't believe I'm giving that up. 3. Stop binge eating. Constantly remind myself that I need to eat for energy to work out, and not because I want to or I think I've earned it. Level-Up goal: Organized. My life is so chaotic - there's so much I need to do and so much I want to do. I have this first week mostly off of work, and I'm going to use it to get a system down so I can be more productive, schedule time to take care of myself, and make sure I'm not up at 2am working. This is awesome - I keep trying to do this on my own, and I fail. Like after the first day. I'm scared to turn 40 and have my life the mess it currently is, so right NOW is the perfect time for this. Kit
