  1. I'm glad to hear your goals are going so well! How much running a week were you planning to do? I'm a non-runner, so my one day of "interval training" (i.e., running in place inside) is pretty much my limit haha. Anyway, that is pretty dang hot! I moved slightly south last year and I have been complaining about how hot it is here the whole time, but it's nothing that bad.
  2. Sounded harsher now that I'm reading it haha, but it's the honest pep-talk that I give myself in these situations.
  3. You have done something that I, as someone who has already reached my goal weight and is relatively happy with my body, has never done (and don't even believe I'm physically capable of doing!). Taking care of yourself is not just about how you look, but also about how you feel and your health. The appearance is the last thing to come, and you'll never get there without consistent and long-term work. Right now you can sit there and think, "What's the point?" and not even bother, but someday you'll start thinking, "Man, I wish I would have started doing X, Y, Z back then, because I'd already be at my goal by now!" So you might as well stop delaying and start the work now and STICK WITH the work NOW, because you aren't going to get to your goal any faster if you don't.
  4. Thanks! Yeah, today has been a "trigger day", but I've somehow managed to resist. Part of it is that I didn't want to have my "cheat" meals on the first day of the week haha, but also, because I've been resisting for a week, so the cravings are already started to go down.
  5. The worst part of this challenge for me is the interval training (which I only had to do once this week), so I feel you on hating running. I was able to power through it this week, but I definitely see it getting harder and harder to trick myself into doing haha. Good to hear about the rest of your goals!

  9. All of my game saves are lost. There is a way to fix the PS3 temporarily, probably long enough to get them off there, but it's not worth it. We got a new 500 GB (We had an original 60 GB PS3, but we replaced the hard drive with I want to say something like 300-350 GB) PS3 today, which also came with Assassin's Creed III, a controller, and a PSN+ 1-year membership (which is one of the few "premium" memberships for anything that is actually worth it) for $300. Expensive, but not a terrible deal. We would have waited for the PS4, but it's not backwards compatible, and we have sooooooo many PS3 games.
  10. Thank goodness for this PvP challenge. I had a bit of a tragedy today. After 5 wonderful years of companionship my PS3 broke (for good). I'm still moping and stressing out about it, and about being completely broke, but it's slightly less terrible after meditating. I think I need a second round, though haha.
  11. So I know I am not officially a part of this guild, but I thought you guys could appreciate this: I REALLY need to meditate today. I had a bit of a tragedy. After 5 wonderful years of companionship my PS3 broke (for good) today. I'm still moping and stressing out about it. I ran through all of my options and it looks like the best thing to do is drive 60 miles tomorrow after work to pick up a new one for $300 (which I was saving towards getting a PS4 when it comes out, which I actually need to use to fix my car that is not running at the moment, which I also need to use to pay doctors' bills/rent/tuition). So hopefully that will work out and I will be a little less upset tomorrow. I'm going to be stressed about the money for awhile, though. So many money things going on right now. It seems a little absurd to put anything towards a new video game console, but hopefully some of my fellow nerds here will understand. I feel a little silly even admitting how much this is bothering me haha, but whatever. It's a good thing I'm doing this challenge, which is motivating me not to get all emotional and binge, and I think eating well and meditating and exercising and all that jazz is make me handle this better than I normally would.
  12. Update: Today I did my first day of interval training. Yuck. I hate running. I liked how sweaty I got, though. However, my back is killing me now (I'm just starting to workout again after a back injury). So that is concerning. I really hate interval training. I realize there are lots of benefits to running, but in my head I think of it as a "calorie burner" whereas the circuit training is building my strength and muscles. I don't like to think of exercise as "I can eat this much more if I workout for this long" kind of thing, so cardio feels useless to me (even though logically I know that is completely stupid!). I've been keeping up with everything else as well. I REALLY need to meditate today, though. I had a bit of a tragedy. After 5 wonderful years of companionship my PS3 broke (for good) today. 14. Hey everyone! Today was my second strength training workout. I kept it at the same pace as my last workout, but I upped my planks from 20 seconds each to 30 seconds. I think two days of yoga was good for my body after the first workout, because I finally felt not completely exhausted today. Tomorrow I have to do interval training, which I am not looking forward to, but that's why this is a "challenge". I also studied for an hour and did my stretches. I still need to do my meditation, but haven't decided what kind I want to do, though. Oh, and I am changing up my goals/attribute points a little. I've decided to add yoga into my official challenge goals. So instead of just doing my regular stretches and back stretches everyday, I want to include doing yoga for at least 3 days a week. So here are the news goals + attribute awards: Strength training or interval training at least 3 times a week: 3 STR + 2 STA Diet (no binging/fasting and <2 sodas and treats a week): 2 CON + 1 WIS Yoga at least 3 times a week + daily stretches: 1 DEX + 1 STA + 1 CON Studying for at least 1 hour a day: + 3 WISThat is only 14 points. If I achieve an A on the overall challenge then I will award myself +1 CHA (.5 CHA for an overall B grade, and nothing for anything lower than that), because I think doing all of these things will make me more attractive haha.
  15. Oh, and I updated my first post to reflect my new goals.

  17. Something is better than nothing. I have those days too. Sometimes you just have to do a "weaker" version and keep your head in the game. The decorating exercise sounds interesting, though!
  18. After doing my yoga with my Wii-fit yesterday I was thinking more about what you said before with liking to focus on the "flow" of your poses (that was an awkward sentence). I think I need to work on that more. I don't do it AT ALL with the Wii-fit haha. Technically, yoga is not part of my challenge, but I am thinking of adding it in there and giving myself points for DEX. Good jobs with the rest of your goals.
  19. I'm a huge klutz, too. I always have unexplained (because I'm so used to bumping into things I don't even notice anymore) bruises, can't live without band-aids, etc. I can technically jump rope, but I have never gotten into it. I was actually going to ask the other jump-roper-ers on here whether or hurts their back or knees at all. When I do jumping jacks it hurts my ankle, too, so I was worried about that. And oh gosh, I would not be able to deal with your punishments haha.
  20. I was just going to leave you the same comment you left me haha. Even though I wish it weren't so rough for you, it is nice to know I'm not the only one struggling. It is worth it, though, when you achieve you goals. I'm sure there will be lots of highs and lows during the rest of the challenge, and I'm going to try to constantly remind myself of that.
  21. Hey everyone! Just checking in. It's a bit stressful for me to try and drop in on everyone's individual posts, so I would love mini-updates in this thread, if anyone cares to. As for myself, I've been staying on track with all of my goals, so far. I have also decided to try and do yoga on all of my work days (3-4 days a week), while still doing strength training and interval training at least 3 times a week, but it is not going to be a part of my official goals. Really happy I signed up for the meditation PvP, because I forgot how great it felt. Today and yesterday have been rough motivation wise, but I know it's just my body adjusting to working out again. I think once I get some proper sleep I will be a lot better off. Being part of this challenge has also been helping me with binging behavior, because I so don't want to lose any attribute points/letter grades haha.
  22. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I know it's a rough deal, but I agree that you shouldn't give up on the challenge. At times like these I think it's better to pour your grief and pain into something productive (like working out!). I find it makes these things more bearable and pass quicker, because I'm not adding a bunch of guilt on top of it about not eating right/working out, or whatever. Easier said than done, though, I know!
  23. Haha, well, I was actually waiting to update until tomorrow (I thought people would get bored of every day?). I've been reading lots of posts, though! Since you brought it up, I will say that today was hard for the motivation. I am sleep deprived due to my work schedule and my body is still exhausted from two days of yoga and my first strength training workout. My brain wasn't working this morning, and I barely made it through work. Yet, when I got home, I could not fall asleep for the life of me. So I finally gave up and decided to study Danish. Somehow I have also managed to do yoga (not part of my challenge), my back stretches, and meditation (PvP challenge) . Yesterday I did the same routine. Studied for an hour. Did yoga, stretches, and meditation. Also, I just want to say how thankful I am for the timing of this challenge! I have been (and will be for the next 6 weeks) stuck on Temptation Island when it comes to food. But knowing I would lose a letter grade (Hey, I'm a nerd!) has prevented me from binging haha. Tomorrow I have off work, so I should be able to get a decent amount of sleep and be ready for strength training. Oh, and I need to start eating more. I'm pretty much at my goal weight, so it's time to up it to maintenance levels. I generally eat more on work days and after exercising anyway, but I want to make sure I really stick with that. I think I've been eating too little over the past week, which has contributed to the exhaustion.
  24. Glad that spreadsheet is fixed. Thanks for that! Better than having to keep posting the same comment haha.
