  1. I hope everybody had a great start to week 3! Almost halfway there!
  2. Thanks wildonion! Last week I hit all of my goals; 3 workouts, 2 runs, no sodas, and a couple of more chapters in my training book. I haven't gotten all of the way through 3 circuits of the bodyweight workout, but the workouts have been great, so no complaints. This week I'm going to start earlier with the exercising/running; the first exercise will be tomorrow and the first run Wednesday. I'm looking forward to crushing my goals this week and keep my momentum going into the second half of the challenge!
  3. You're killing it, Jonesy! Reading about your success makes me want to work harder to reach my goals. Thanks!
  4. Hey Emmie, how's week 2 going? Week 1 (and Week 2) were/have been a mixed bag for me too. Keep that focus, and like Tateman said, you'll kick some butt this week!
  5. First check-in for week 2! It's obviously delayed as we're more than halfway through the week, which also sums up my week so far. It's either been raining or threatening rain every day this week so I haven't gone out for a run yet. I have three days left to get 2 runs in, which means I'll be running in the rain. It is what it is at this point though. I exercised Wednesday, so my next two will be Friday and Sunday. I added 10 pushups to the circuit and increased the dumbbell rows from 10lbs. to 20lbs. I only finished two circuits but I definitely put the right amount of intensity into the workout and felt good about it after. I'm going to leave the workout as is until I can complete three circuits consistently. I still haven't had any soda. Luckily it hasn't been an issue for me at all. Taking some of your suggestions, I always have a water bottle with me at work which I refill so I don't need to rely on vending machines. Finally, I'm about 2/3rds of the way through the training materials for the IAHSS certification. I spoke to my manager and he didn't sound too hopeful about my company paying for my cert test anytime soon. I kind of expected that, but I'll keep working on the aspect of the project I can control and let the company do what they do. Overall I started this week with low motivation. I think some of it was from the weather. That first workout yesterday helped me get my head back in the game. I'm looking to finish strong and then start strong going into week 3.
  6. Just got back from my last run of the week. It went much better than my first. We (a coworker and I) ended up running slightly over a mile. Looking forward to week 2 in the morning, especially since there are some opportunities for improvements that I plan to make, such as alternating workouts and runs and getting a full night of sleep.
  7. Thanks for the kind words, tigerlily and bigwildonion!
  8. Today I went for my first run. I didn't run as far as I had wanted to but I got out there, which is the theme of this challenge for me. One more run tomorrow for my 2 for the week and then I'm going to start spacing them out better. I also worked out today, which is my third for the week. Since I had run earlier in the day I only did 2 circuits. In retrospect I wish I had done the third. I also struggled with motivation to workout today, but I went beast mode to get it done. I think the lack of motivation was from being tired; I definitely did not get a full night's sleep as I had to be up and out early to go for the run. In the future I don't plan on doubling up workouts and runs and I definitely will continue getting a full night's sleep. Still soda free and no cravings for it. I'm still about halfway through the training material, but I'm working a double today so if there's some down time I'll be hitting the books again. Hopefully I can continue to make some progress and get that cert before the challenge is over.
  9. Emmie, thanks for the info on that app! I may use that for the next challenge after I get used to running again. I have plans to go running tonight after work. Other than that getting one more workout in for the week to hit my 3, another run, and working throughout. If I have any additional time I'll be playing State of Decay.
  10. So far this week I have 2 workouts in, no sodas, and no runs yet. I worked out day 1 and day 3 and got through 2 circuits and 3 circuits, respectively. I wasn't too happy with Day 1 results so I made some adjustments today and the workout went much better. I'm going to buy some running shoes tomorrow and already have a run planned for Friday. So Thursday will be an off day, Friday run, Saturday workout, and Sunday run. Going forward I'm going to try to space my runs out better. Soda hasn't been an issue yet. Hopefully it will stay that way. As far as the certification prep I'm making great progress: I'm already about half way through the training guide. If I can get my employer to pay for the test I may be able to get the cert within the six week challenge. I'm excited about my progress so far and I'm hoping I can continue toward my goals!
  11. Jess, here's information about Real Life Roleplaying and how to incorporate it into the challenge. It's not mandatory but, to me at least, it's an extra incentive to do well.
  12. Jess, your goals look great! Our workout goal is pretty similar so I'll definitely be leaning on you for some support. Are you going to the gamification (stat points) with your goals? Annabelle, I really like the way you wrote up your goals. I don't know much about body fat percentages either. Maybe you could share what you find out with us? Next time around I'm going to take a page out of your book and incorporate an activity I enjoy and tie it to one of my goals. Emmie, great goals as well! What type of fiction do you write? Please let me know about the Zombie Run app; if you say it's good I might incorporate it into the next challenge.
