  2. Haha it actually wasn't with the same girl the second girl I actually went out with for a second time Wednesday night.
  3. holy crap i haven't even had time to keep up with this thread since thanksgiving really. it has been super busy. I forewent lifting for bodyweight stuff at home most days. I haven't lifted in a while so I doubt I actually met any of my goals. I did get the two dates thing down. So that rocks. And got rid of a bunch of crap, so the minimalism thing is well underway. Overall, probably a C+ because I have done well in school, minimalism, and the two dates thing. I was on track to do pretty well on all my lifts, but got sidetracked by sitting in front of a school computer for hours at a time.
  4. You're not in B/CS are you? We have our yearly Christmas parade today (at least I think it's a Christmas parade- I've never actually gone to it due to other commitments)
  5. So I didn't lift yesterday, but I did complete a goal. Date #2 ftw. I didn't even know we had a "club" in college station. It was a lot of fun. Also it was a good way to de-stress before finals, the two papers and the two labs due next week. Might go to the gym tonight, if I can make some decent headway on these papers today. They are only 5 pages each and one is about the use of GPS in track/road course racing and the other is about lebensraum, so it's interesting stuff at least.
  6. Slept less than or equal to 3 hours every night this week so far. Not going to hit the gym this week I guess unless I go tomorrow night after I get off work at 8:30 and/or Saturday. This part of the semester always sucks.
  7. Back when I worked with a trainer, he always said to exhale during the main work of any lift: pushing up on bench, pulling on a row, the push part of a squat, pulling on a pullup, etc. I never really thought about why, just always did it.
  8. I don't work Saturday, so I'm gonna do the squat test then. Should be fun!
  9. In the spring semester I'm only taking a 3 hr research course and an indoor rock climbing kinesiology. I'm super pumped just because it will help build my grippy muscles.
  10. thanks laura! i do what i can. haha the facial hair is still there, thats a pic from this summer. I just trimmed it up all nice and neat. And the squats weren't that bad till the next day. I was more sore after that than I ever have been from lifting. Some point this week is gonna be tabata front squats for a fun finisher.
  11. NO! NO TIME OFF FOR UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES!! haha yeah I understand though. If I didn't have to work this week, I would be super excited. When I grow up and get a real job making real money, I plan on buying equipment and basically having a gym in my garage. But for now I have to go with the flow.
  12. aaaaaand the school gym is only open noon to 6 tonight. and i get off work at 7. looks like another apartment gym workout tonight...
  13. So apparently on the day before thanksgiving, the school gym closes 4 hours early. Therefore, the planned workout didn't happen. So I worked out at my apartments (weak) gym today. Update: Dumbbell bench: 5x5 with pair of 50s Bent over row: 5x5 with pair of 50s Tabata thrusters: 6 rounds 20/10 work/rest with pair of 25s Tabata squats: 10 rounds 20/10 work/rest without weights. (I did as many as possible with this. As in 25 each of the first 4 rounds, then couldn't count after that. The pacing felt pretty constant up to round 7.) It was a fun workout, but I wish there was more weight. The rows and press were both less hard than preferable. Both tabata sets hurt so good.
  14. A while back, I forced myself to down more than 3500 kcals a day. It took about a week of forcing myself to eat that much. Now I'm freakin hungry if I eat less than that a day (with random days that are an exception).
  15. Awesome job with the deadlift! And I'm not going home for thanksgiving and my friend invited me to his house for their celebration, which I have a feeling is going to be fried turkey, potatoes, bread, assorted desserts, and miller lite. It should be fun. And I might die. So I know what you're up against.
  16. Fair enough. I think I may just have to build my own garage gym when I graduate and get a real job. I hope the other gym works for ya Kishi.
  17. That is kinda silly that they don't allow deads or rows. How are you supposed to become awesome at the gym without those two things? (and similar movements involving either throwing your weight or some other heavy weight around)
  18. @ETFnerd and @Kishi: Thanks guys. I ended up sleeping like 13 hours last night. I think the stress thing and lack of sleep was screwing with my lifts and my mind.

  20. Haha. It hurt. And it still hurts. Still kinda sore.
  21. @ETFnerd and @weirdquark I think y'all are right. Sleep has been kinda nonexistent My problem food-wise isn't quality of food, it's quantity. I was eating 4500+ kcals a day 100% paleo, but due to time constraints, I have been down to <3000 kcals. And I've been drinking waaaayyyy too much caffeine. That definitely has an effect on stress hormones and all that jazz. Lifting is, sadly, my only real downtime, so like weirdquark said, I need to do it as a de-stresser.
  22. Yeah and thursday I had a bad deadlift day, but an awesome push press day. Maybe I'm just off this week with all the stressful crap going on with school.
  23. Update: Bench: 4x135 5x130 3x5x125 (WTF? today sucked for bench) Pendlay Rows: 5x5 @ 132lbs Squat: 5x5 @ 185 I have no clue why I sucked at bench today. Maybe because I didn't have time to eat this week...
  24. yeah. I saw them on your challenge and it sounded fun(?) so I tried it out. it was kinda awesome how bad it was. must. do. more.
  25. UPDATE: Deadlift: 110/150/200/231/242/231 x 5 Push Press: 110lbs 5x5 then 115 5x ---This was really weird. Last time I barely finished a 5x5 with 105 and today the 110 was kinda easy. Pullups: 7/7/6/5/5 TABATA THRUSTERS (OMG THIS SUCKED SO AWESOME) 20sec on 10 off for 5 rounds with 30lbs dumbbells... more tabata-ish things are in the future.
