  3. Well. Bit of a bummer. Got in a car accident. That will derail you. Nothing major injury wise. Just a very angry shoulder and all over soreness. Thus why I disappeared. All in all I still managed to lose about 7.5 pounds and started off a new way to think about food. I think I'm gonna like It here! Oh and totally nailed the 1 min plank.. Make it 1 min 12 sec! Off to buy the guide!!
  4. Wow, things got super busy around here in the last week!! Let me see if I can recap and get back on track with this whole tracking thing.... Saturday March 12th Fitness Goals: 2x circuit 47 second plank (personal best!) Went for a long walk with the family Diet goals: I don't even consider this anything anymore. I am just done with dairy! Life goals: I decided today was going to be just a family day so we bought a new board game called "Forbidden Island" and had a family BBQ/Game/camp out in the living room night. I would say this definitely improved my life! Sunday March 13th Fitness Goals: Rest day!! Went for another walk and took my son to the park to play soccer (football, hubby is a Brit!) Diet Goals: I've decided to start tracking what I eat more closely and see what I need to tweak. (Is there a spot for this?) Dairy is no longer a big deal, but I think a good long look at what I eat will be helpful. Life Goals: Spent about an hour on the piano Secured three Gala fundraiser sponsors Hubby did all the housework for me! (awwww) Monday March 14th Fitness Goals: Intervals! made it to 38 minutes before I felt like my lungs and legs were going to go ka-put. Diet goals: Started a food diary today. I am finding a few more things that have dairy in them that I did not realize! I also see some places where I can improve my health. I seem to be addicted to the same fruits, the same vegetables and not really branching out. In order to get the most out of food, I think the next grocery shopping trip will involve some produce aisle adventure! Life goals: Rehearsal for the Gala and show this evening. Press releases finalized and sent to 45 outlets in the area! Piano time: 1 hr 15 min Got all the chores done, washed the car, and prepared some freezer meals for the hubby for nights when I am at rehearsal Tuesday March 15th Fitness Goals: 2x circuit 40 sec plank Diet goals: Looking back at the food diary, I see that the awareness has made some improvements already. Knowing I am going to write it down makes it harder to have something I will not want to see on the paper later. Haha Life Goals: I bought a piano book! Learning a lot about training your hands to work independently 2 more Gala donors! I have the housework routine down to about 45 minutes a day now. Yay for more geeking out on the PC time!
  5. Day 5 Friday March 11 Fitness goal: one and a half circuits. Couldn't make it past 36 second plank darn it! Diet goal: still dairy free! Discovered dairy free mochi, Yum. Life goals: too many errands today to spend time at the piano, but I bought groceries and nothing naughty! This post is my First time on the PC today. Day off from the fundraiser. But managed to clean out my inbox.
  6. Day 4 Thursday March 10 Fitness goals: Got a call from my sons school about 7 minutes into my intervals that he was sick. So that was yet another monkey wrench in the ole system. So, I followed the Angry birds method and grabbed a few stairs here and there while he was napping and did planks while watching Spongebob blow bubbles. Diet Goals: Dairy Free!! Also started taking my vitamins (something I'm awful at). Life goals: taught my son to play Mary Had A Little Lamb on the piano. So cute! Laundry done! Showers scrubbed! Floors vacuumed! Whew! Press releases.... Er... Released (?). Hahaha
  7. Day 3 March 9: Jury Duty Day 2: Fitness goals: Took 8 flights of stairs at a run in heels rather than take the escalator. That was all I got to...:-/ DIet goals: Packed healthy snacks today and nibbled on grapes and almonds. NO DAIRY for the 4th day. Life Goals: I can now happily play simple sheet music and kinda know what the hell I am looking at! Spent the morning in court, then straight to Rehearsal for our fundraiser Gala and next show at the Conservatory so I totally did not even touch the computer! Organized a publicity committee and drafted press releases for the show! Whew!!! Tomorrow:: MUST WORK OUT!!
  8. More Plank! This shall be my new motto! Day 2: Tuesday March 8 Oh noes! Jury duty puts a huge dent in my master plan. I spent from 7am to 2pm sitting in the jury lounge and from 2pm to 5pm sitting in a courtroom for jury selection. Good news is that I DID manage to not eat ANY junk despite the vending machines and boredom. Bad news is I did not work out. *cue silver lining* went ahead with some PLANK while waiting for the oven timer and hit 43 seconds before my convulsions caused me to call it quits. "Quits" meaning some BW Squats and lunges on the way to the kitchen. Hahahaha In short: Fitness goal: Meh, I made due. Diet goal: A+ No dairy AND no junk! Life Goals: Well, I did sit on my iPad all day, but the house was clean when I left at 6:15 so Im going to call that a win. I did play on the piano for about an hour in the evening, even learning Minuet all by my lonesome (I'm teaching myself) and started to master the sheet music concept. IN the eternal boredom that is jury duty, I also managed to email about 26 contacts about the fundraiser gala coming up in 3 weeks. So win for the kids too! In short, Since the diet part is 80% of your success, I'm feeling pretty good!
  9. At the moment I am doing the Basic Body Weight Workout from here on Nerd Fitness. It kicks my butt! I also subscribe to that philosophy for tasting everything. Perhaps that was the milage marker on the road that brought me here.... Hmmmmm deep thoughts.
  10. And I thought cutting dairy was hard! Great job on day one! It sounds like you are off to a good start and I love how positive you sound. I think I will add the "Post til the end" creedo to my adventure as well. Now go enjoy J.V. Jones while holding an amazing plank!! Sher
  11. Day one update: Fitness goal: check! 2 circuits on the Body Weight routine. I am in absolute pain this morning from the lunges and squats... Win? Diet goal: almond milk is delicious!! Thank you for the suggestion. I did have about two tablespoons of chocolate pudding, but when your sick son asks for it and you make it for him, you NEED to taste! Big fail on the mindless destroying of a small box of cookies. Cupboard cleaning Tuesday commence! Spent 30 minutes at the piano. I can now play the opening to Seasons of Love. This was easier and more fun than I expected. Got the beds made, laundry going, breakfast dishes washed, and dusting in before the computer came to life Work phone calls harder due to the insane amounts of cuddles and book reading and Lego building with sickie little boy..
  12. The Irish in me loves the title.... Nice to meet you all! Let's do this! *flex*
  13. Name: Sherrill (real name bonus?) Fitness Goals: Body Weight Strength Training 2x week Improve Plank to 1 Min! Build to 3 circuits (Almost can do 2) Interval Training 2x week 20 Min week 1 30 Min week 2 45 Min week 3 45 Min week 4 with longer burst Hot Yoga at CorePower with friends atleast 1x per week Life Goals: Make at least 5 calls or email attempts at Patrons for the Conservatory per day Finish all housework before falling victim to video games Finish teaching myself 2 songs on piano Follow a specific way of eating? Going to begin by cutting out dairy completely! This is going to be the hardest due to a Latte addiction(I suspect it to be the cause of my migraines) Any other piece of information you think would be useful for team creation: Stay at home Mom with access to a small gym but seriously lacking in motivation to get there. I also spend a lot of hours volunteering with a Youth Conservatory on the phone trying to secure enough donations to keep the doors open. This means a lot of sitting on my butt time. If you want to be part of a team or if you want to work alone: I need help and an occasional ass-kicking!!

  15. From one Newbie to another: Welcome!! *sound trumpets* And congratulations on the successes and goal setting! I love the goal for your son's birthday. Very sweet!
  16. Before the big quit, I was strength training 2-3 days a week and doing the treadmill/elliptical grind. Looking back, most of the treadmill/elliptical was half assed and "a waste of time" (Thanks NF for that enlightenment!). I actually really enjoyed going in the weight room at the gym with all the dudes and standing over a bench waiting my turn and was really in a good groove for a time, then we moved and the convenient gym was replaced by none at all. That's where the comparative with the other half comes in..he is amazingly disciplined and great at making it out of his way to workout. I am however, not. SO my new plan is just to follow the advice of NF by doing the Beginner Body Weight workout and Interval training programs laid out by Steve Kamb! I just finished the circuit 2 times and am LOVING the jell-o legs! I also take an amazing hot yoga class twice a week and have found it to be a nice little island of peace in my week. I am also always eager to hear about what others are doing and finding to be amazing!
  17. Greetings to the Rebellion! Happy to have found a site/group/nerd camp that makes reading about working out and being healthy entertaining! After bouncing back from two kids and managing to somehow lose all the baby weight, I find it is creeping back in small doses all of a sudden. Being married to "Super Workout Everyday No Matter What and Never Eat anything Bad Guy" for 8 years, I was always trying to compare, which always ended up with me feeling inadequate. So, rather than just being myself, I quit! )I know... Boooooo!) But now, after deciding that I am in fact a rather confident hot mom type (excuse the narcissism, its a mechanism hah!), I have come to the conclusion that I have ample time and support to Get Back To HOT!! haha. So, here I sit finishing this introductory post as quickly as I can in order to start Workout #1.. It is wonderful to "meet" you all! Here I go. Wish me luck!
