  1. Ug. So obviously I've dropped off the face of the internet. My husband came back from a 6 week trip during week 2 and I let it mess me up completely. I've been doing yoga at least once a week (sometimes twice), did my Angry Birds workout a few times, meditated well through the second week and dropped it the third. And I've done nothing with the business goal. :/ My daughter's first birthday was on the 22nd and I had all this crafty stuff I was gonna do for it and was stressing over and I ended up having to cank most of it just to get it done. So I'm gonna have to restart this week. My husband being home makes it easier to get to yoga, since he's a built-in babysitter. He was going to go with me once a week, but finding a sitter is proving very difficult. I need to modify the angry birds routine a little bit, since I jacked up my knee running. I'm going to physical therapy for it so it's getting fixed, but still very frustrating. I'm going to log in daily now, and since my husband is also doing this 6 week challenge, we can remind each other to log in. At least in theory. We're very bad for giving each other excuses to slack off. ><
  2. Week 1 Updates: Goal 1 I got to yoga once this week, which technically doesn't count since it was on Sunday. :/ I didn't arrange childcare with enough of an advance, and I didn't get to the early morning class because my daughter's swim lessons were NOT canceled like I thought they would be (TS Andrea came for a visit). My husband will be available to watch my daughter this week, and I'm going to coordinate other childcare well in advance this upcoming week. I'm bummed I didn't go. I did get my new lululemon mat though. I'm excited to try it. Goal 2 I have been very on top of this goal. Since I didn't go to yoga, I just did this every other day. I have improvement all around, though I find myself wanting to do other exercises just because I'm bored with the ones I've been doing. I know I'll see better progress if I stick to advancing on a few though. Goal 3 I have meditated every day this week, so 100%! I am so scatterbrained, however. Most days I forgot about it until I was in bed, and my cat thinks I must be settling in to cuddle with her every time I meditate, so that's very distracting. Today went better than before, so there's hope. Goal 4 Alas. This goal suffers from not having some clear steps. I have been working on a paid commission for a book cover, so I'll count that. I have that project and one free design that are due this Saturday. This upcoming week I will set aside 30 minutes each day to designing/drawing things to sell. I'm going to move forward with both the design and the diapers, as the design has no start up costs and I might as well. I cleared my crafting area out as well, so I can get to cutting out fabric and sewing.
  3. Checking in, I'm doing pretty good. 1- Did yoga on Sunday, and I'm planning on going early tomorrow morning for the childcare provided class. I haven't been to this particular class or teacher yet, but I know some of the people who go. I also finally got fed up with my cheap from-college yoga mat and ordered a lululemon mat. Way too much money, but I know it'll be worth it. 2. Did my workout yesterday. I realized that I may need to change this goal, as I get sore from yoga and the workout, and I want to have a rest day when I'm sore. I'm going to think about a solution and get back to this. 3. Did this every night so far. I cannot stay focused, even for a minute! It amuses me more than it frustrates me, fortunately. I'll get there. 4. I haven't made any progress on this besides thinking about it. I've had little sleep the past few days and it shows in my ability to do anything more than basics. :/ I have a lot of trouble going to bed at a reasonable time and of course my daughter wakes up early when I've had a particularly late night. She's already in bed for the night (hopefully! *knock on wood*) so I'm going to try to get in bed by 11. So I need to get some real progress on Goal 4 and figure out how often I can workout between yoga sessions.
  4. This is my first 6 week challenge. My husband is actually doing one as well, and his excitement about it kinda bled over to me. I often have many many many things I want to do and succeed with none of them, so hopefully restricting it to 4 things will allow me to achieve them. 1. Practice vinyasa yoga 2/week. This one almost feels like cheating because I enjoy it so much. I go to a yoga studio in town and I'm coming back off a three week break. I intend on doing a third practice at home but that will not be part of my challenge. DEX +3 STR +2 2. Do the Angry Birds workout every other day. I want to be able to do a pull up and a proper pushup by the end of the 6 weeks. I currently can do a full pushup, but can only lower myself about 3 inches. STR +2 3. Meditate 1 minute/day, adding 1 minute/week. This one will be hard for me to remember to do, and to keep from falling asleep. I will do this at night after my daughter is in bed. WIS +2 4. Create a business plan to earn $300 profit a month working from home. I'm losing my awesome babysitter, and I would strongly prefer to work from home, both to be available to my daughter and to not have childcare eat up my earnings. I'm leaning towards a graphic design/printing business that I already have the skill set and equipment for, or a cloth diaper making business. I would need to learn how to sew the diapers and source unique fabric, obviously more work than the design business. WIS +4 I still have other things I would like to get done (teeth brushing, sleeping before midnight, running and drinking more liquids) but I won't be grading myself on them.
