  1. Hey Guys! I know it's been a while since my last post. I've been a bit overwhelmed with school and work, but this challenge has been on my mind the whole time! So far, I've been staying pretty consistent with my goals. It's not too difficult for me only eat meals that I make myself, since I spend most of my time in my dorm anyway. However, there've been a few instances where family was in town and wanted to go out. In those cases, I decided to stay true to the cause and stick to wholesome foods, like steak and vegetables. Managing to clock in 10,000 steps a day has gotten a little tough; If I'm not in class of studying, I'm at work, so I've had to divide it up into roughly 5k in the morning after breakfast, and 5k after dinner. I've notices, through, that splitting it in half has made it a much less daunting task than one looooooong walk. I've still been hitting the rock wall twice a week. I've backed off of racquetball a bit, just so my body doesn't get too used to my chosen form of cardio. To mix it up, I've thrown in some martial arts, and an occasional insanity workout (that stuff will get you movin!) I think the hardest goal to keep up with so far has been practicing guitar. Some days, I just need to prioritize other things, and I'll skip practicing, which means in order to meet my weekly goal, I have to increase my practice time on other days. It isn't particularly efficient, but as long as it keeps me on track, it's all good. Since I've started keeping these goals, I've noticed that I've already lost two inches on my waist! That's probably a combination of the work I was doing beforehand as well as my 6WC work, but hey, two inches is two inches!
  2. If you aren't 21 yet, I would avoid drinking, or so it very discretely in a small group of close friends. Not so much for your sake, but because supplyin alcohol to minors can result in a several hundred dollar fine or roughly 90 days in jail. If and when you are of age, however: Beer tastes like piss. Hands down. I tend to go with cider, either Angry Orchard or Woodchuck. Also, anything you get is always going to taste better in draft than in the bottle/can. I would avoid hard liquor (whiskey, scotch, etc) if that's not your thing. It's always good to drink some water, just to stay hydrated and sober you up. I don't really understand people who go out an party all the time. A night out with friends or a small get together where you just hang out and have a few drinks, that I do. Not like, "YEAH!!! Lets get schwasted!!!!" And as for the person on the high horse who wants to judge you, screw em, regardless of the religious affiliation. I'm sure they're in no place to judge anyone. I personally and trying to cut back on my alcohol consumption. They're a bunch of empty liquid calories that lasts for all of five seconds. Not really worth it. Hope you stayed safe and made smart choices, and as always, don't drink and drive.
  3. I feel like that's probably a pretty accurate interpretation of what happened
  4. Better hit the gym and take a walk before I finish this Theives Guild Quest. MOTIVATIONS OVER PROCRASTINATION

  5. If you would like any help in narrowing them down, let us know! Also, ZELDA RULES
  6. RIGHT ON, PEOPLE! I checked the spreadsheet today, and MAN, I was surprised to see that the group had already filled!! Welcome, LadySpazalot, Arawlins, Achates, Hollyvonne, Tankgrrl, and JediMom!!! It's good to have you guys on board! Feel free to tell us about your 6WC, or whatever goals you have right now! Any questions, concerns, or advice you have, that's what we're here for! Best of luck to all!
  7. EDIT: I found my original posting of this (oops, guess i should have looked harder), and i don't know how to delete this extra one soooo... just think of it as a reminder! Hey guys! I could swear I made this group earlier in the week, but I guess not... Anyway. I welcome you all to Courage, Wisdom, and Power, our totally awesome Accountabilibuddies group! Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. At first, there were just two of us. I checked out the page today hoping maybe one of two more people had signed up, and boy, was I suprised to see the group filled!! So welcome, LadySpazalot, Arawlins, Achates, Hollyvonne, Tankgrrl, and JediMom!!! As I'm sure you're all familiar, the goal of this group is to encourage you all to step outside of your comfort zones and try new things (courage), educate yourselves on how to sustainably lead a healthy lifestyle (wisdom), and become bigger, badder, and better at your personal fitness goals! EMBRACE THE TRIFORCE!! Honestly, these traits don't even need to be limited to fitness. It you want to be courageous and talk to that cute barista, or maybe try sushi for the first time, do it! You want to learn more about quantum physics or just pick up a new book, do it! Want to be more assertive, or just take charge of a particular situation in your life? Yep, that's right. DO IT. We would really like to hear about all of your 6 week challenge goals (if your doing it), or any other goals you might have. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and if you have any constructive feedback, feel free to share. We're all about support and betterment here. Now then, allow me to step down from my apple crate, and open this mofo up to everyone! Good luck, and again, thanks for joining!!
  8. Happy Friday Ladies and Gents! So week one is almost over and here's my progress thus far: Goal 1) So far I've clocked in at least 10k steps a day! Even went on a hike today! Sometimes I've had to go on moonlight walks because my daytime schedule has been a bit crazy, but hey, Lycans are made for the night, right? Goal 2) So far, all of my actual meals have been made at home, so I'm doing well! The only exception was a handful of chips at my buddy's place while we watched Archer and plays Skyrim. I know... bad... *slaps hand* But hey, that was my allotted leeway, so I'm still on track! Goal 3) So far, I've clocked in 2 1/2 Hours of activity in this area. My buddy and I are gonna do some free running tonight, and I may go to my parent's dojo tomorrow for class, and some personal training. That's like, two hours right there! Goal 4) I've only clocked in an hour so far, but I won't let that dishearten me! Focus and perseverance are key! An hour tonight, tomorrow, and sunday! So far, I've been doing pretty well. I don't expect every week to be like this. Sometimes it's gonna be easy; sometimes it'll get hard. I just need to keep my eye on the prize.
  9. Oops... yeah, that would have been useful. Female, 22, 5'4, 205lbs. I feel like my exercises regimen is sustainable; they're things that I enjoy doing, and I have easy access to them, so there's no excuse to not do them. Funny thing, when i first started going primal and transitioning to eating more protein, the protein would obviously keep me fuller longer, therefore I would only eat when I was hungry, taking me to anywhere between 500-700 calories a day-- not okay AT ALL. If i need to take in more calories, guess I'd better load my fridge up with grilled chicken breasts- delicious and uber cheap!! If i understand correctly, BMR is Base Metabolic Rate. That how many calories you body uses daily just to function, right? I'm a little confused about how to factor that into calories consumed and achieving a deficit. Guess I'd better read up! I'll do some research tonight into BMR and this TDEE you speak of, and see where that gets me. Thanks guys!
  10. My goal here is to lose body fat, while redistributing my muscle to fat ratio. My current ratio is about 37.5% fat to 29.5% muscle, and that's going off of my electronic scale which, as Steve has pointed out, can be off 2-3% either way. Regardless of it's inaccuracy, the distribution is still not healthy. My diet consists of anywhere between 1100-1400 calories per day (when I force myself to eat, even when I'm not hungry, to avoid unnecessary starvation). These calories come from eggs, ground beef, chicken, fish, vegetables, and fruit when I'm craving something sweet. If I'm short a few calories, I eat some nuts or almond butter. I exercise pretty consistently, lifting free weights at varying weights/reps 3 times a week for 20-30 minutes, play racquetball for an hour about twice a week, and make sure my pedometer clocks in at least 10k steps a day, and I rock climb at least an hour a week. Excluding any random miscellaneous activity that happens into my schedule, I burn an average of 500-750 calories per day. My ultimate goal is to drop 50lbs of body fat by the graduation time (around December 12th). My questions are: 1) Is my ultimate goal achievable? 2) Am I achieving an caloric deficit, and if so, is it healthy? 2) Are my exercise habits, if applied consistently, conducive to achieving my weight loss goals? 3) Do you have any suggestions to make the most of my exercises and my diet? Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

  12. Hello everyone! On the Accountabilibuddies spreadsheet, I've created the group 'Courage, Wisdom, and Power' which, for those of you who for whatever reason don't know, is based on the Triforce of 'The Legend of Zelda' fame. This is a group created to provide accountability, morale, advice, and comradery to anyone looking to step outside of their comfort zones and try new things, educate themselves on how to sustain healthy habits and lead a healthy lifestyle, and increase their over-all fitness. Whatever your personal and specific goals are, we will be here to support you 110%!!!
  13. I'm glad I'm on the right track! I play classical guitar, which has a different technique than if you were to watch someone play an open-mic night or watch a rock concert. We don't use picks, and the playing focuses more on the melodic arrangement. If you ever come across a guitarist with weird fingernails, i.e left hand it trimmed, but thumb through ring on right hand is kind of angular, they probably play classical.
  14. Walking to the racquetball courts!
