  1. Wow, a huge difference indeed! Love data, love science. When science confirms that you are doing it right is awesome
  2. Wow Erick, I love the pale knight! As for your Pathfinder group, it must be really difficult to make it fun for both kids and adults alike, isn't it? Also, I'm rocking the side quest this week. Meeting for a dinner-party at a friend's place tonight!
  3. Hopefuly It'll get better. I've got a similar problem, had to grade a ton of master's thesis ans attend to presentations :S It will all pass, and you'll be free to train again!
  4. Whoa, I wouldn't be able to stand the feeling of nothingness.. being able to see so many miles from a hill. No trees, no 2m tall ferns, no birds chirping. No wonder you have to prepare for the apocalypse! Here we would just run to the forest, I guess
  5. Awesome deadlift achievement! Impressive, nonetheless, and quite inspiring
  6. Looking great N-36! Any plans to effcientlify (not a word, I know) another room this week?
  7. Congratulations on "the big pound melt off"! Good thing you are seeing the bright sid of Whole 30, not just the "omg, I feel sleepy" one. Keep up the healthy eating
  8. If you learned 2 things over week one then I'd say it was a success. Quite often we start a plan that sounds good but it's not really parctical, changing the schedules to make the challenge work is the most wise thing to do!
  9. Definitely in character! But as Nusuth said, I can wait to figure it out via little hints here and there. By the way, how has been your first week?
  10. Some times it is hard to do al the challenge stuff AND find time to post it here! It is good to see you are doing fine, and getting great times in the Crossfit training! To do all that in just under 12 minutes must be exhausting. Keep up with that!
  11. Yes, I am using the Barbell Batallion Rank 1 plan A for this challenge. At the moment I find the warmup to be a workout per se, and that makes the lifting part pretty hard since I'm already tired when I get there! Anyhow, it'll get better.... I guess. As for the recipes, we prepared wrap-less fajitas with roasted cauliflower mash as side. Will post the recipe here soon Workut wise, this week was awesome! I did all my lifting for the week. Had to workout on Saturday for that, which is kind of annoying because the gym opens very late (at 11 am) Anyhow, I got the starting point for: Deadlift: 25 kg Pull-Up: 30 kg assistance. They installed this over the summer, and it is awesome. I'm only lifting a bit more than half my bodyweight, but this way I get to learn the proper form and hopefully will develop the muscle needed to get at least one unassisted pull-up at the end of the challenge Eating has been good, round the 90 g of protein every lifting day, and a bit more than 80 the resting days. It's a bit lower than I planned but I feel that's enough for non lifting days. However, if I fail to see progress in the lifting sessions I'll adjust and eat more proteins. As for sleep... during the week I failed miserably, always going late to bed and therefore waking up later than I wanted to to make up for the lost hours at night. Will fix that this week. For sure. The side quest is going great as well. I managed to get 2 free hours one evening in a workday (sounds weird, but it's a big thing!) and 2 free evenings during the weekend. ant hen I used them to be a nerd playing Zombicide, Pathfinder and to go out and chat with my friends over wine.
  12. I am pretty curious about your paleo chili recipe (I love chili)...do you mind sharing? (And forgive me if you already did last challenge, but my memory sucks)
  13. Great way to tell us how you are doing! By the way, I'm really curious about the gravemind. Any chances on your explaining that concept?
  14. Yeah, will do that. Otherwise I just keep on reading/ writing and suddenly I realise it's midnight already! Balance for today: It was not a lifting day. I had planned to go for a short run, but the greatest storm ever was raging outside... and the run didn't happen. Protein wise, I had 138g thanks to an incredibly huge beef entrecôte. That steak was amazingly tasty and delicious, will be purchasing more soon. Also prepared lunch for tomorrow (roasted cauliflower and fish curry). And today the plan is to wind down early, as tomorrow at 7 am I have some serious lifting to do! Cooking with planned leftovers is sooo convenient that I'm going to try and implement it during this challenge. It would be specially handy on lifting days: that way I'll be able to go to work straight away from the lifting session. It also helps to save time at nights (not cooking whatever for the next day), and works towards the sleeping goal How did you guys do today?
  15. It is childish maybe, but a glass of hot milk & honey seems to help when having difficulties to sleep. At least for me!
  16. Hey, thanks! I've found that to be a powerful motivator for me. The mere idea of letting down someone who is counting on me is incredibly appalling. I know I am very forgiving regarding my own mistakes when they only affect myself... but other people... that's serious business. I guess I like the idea of being reliable in many aspects. Starting slow, as always... The Lifting: Cool stuff. Yesterday was the 1st lifting day of the week and the baseline was stablished after much waiting for other barbell users to leave one free spot. Gym is packed of people at nights. Baseline weight for 5 sets of 5 reps was as follows: Bench press: 23 kg (50.7 lbs) Squat: 32 kg (70.5 lbs) Push press: 18kg (39.6 lbs) The eating: - Monday was not fine. We decided to rearrange the furniture of the living room (again) and forgot to have dinner. <90g protein. But the place looks great! (And it will last another month or two until we get bored again) - Tuesday was waaay better. Had two eggs for breakfast, peppers and meatballs for luch and some bone broth, colesaw and pig's feet for dinner. > 90g protein The sleeping: So far it hasn't changed. Moday's furniture rearrangement and some friends coming over yesterday had me going to bed way later than I wanted. Resulting in my waking up at 8:00 am or later, and thus failing miserably at this goal. During this week I'll keep the same weight for the lifting, but will aim to be in bed by 11 pm the latest.
  17. By the way Nusuth, are you a fan of Ursula K. LeGuin or just mere coincidence?
  18. Hi! ZAP member here. Love the theme of your challenge! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress during the following 6 weeks Plus warrior womans are badass. Imho

  20. Great goals indeed, will be following your progress, and robinhoodie's story, of course
  21. Love the setting of your challenge, can't wait to read the in-character updates! Somehow reminds me of Fallout 3... which I love
  22. Hey Nusuth, glad to see you here one more challenge! I agree with you in that we are already living the Zombie apocalypse. We must fight that by all means, or we'll turn into zombies as well :S I hope to see your cyborg-self by the end of the challenge
  23. You are up for a lot of challenges during this challenge Uri. I wish you awesome success and to leave the pancake platoon once and for all!
  24. Woah, that Vegas writer trip sounds really cool. It's a workshop oriented meeting or are you going there to advertise your book? Also, yay for archery! I'm looking for archery clubs here as well. Good luck!
