  1. I've been crazy busy with training for my summer internship at an outdoor summer camp!! RunningwithScissors, I hope everything works out for you--do what you think is right! and I agree with Heidi about keeping your head up and focused on staying active. Exercise really helps me think clearly in times of stress I haven't been doing so hot with my eating paleo, though my consumption of processed foods has gone down significantly! I'm starting to cook my own meals since we're not fed here at camp and most of the people I work/live with are into cooking as well. I'm also listed as "gluten-free" for when we are fed at camp which has helped with my wheat- and corn-free diet! As for exercise, I get lots of hiking and bike riding in. Bainbridge is super hilly and I plan to tackle those hills and become a real bike rider (hopefully...) I don't have access to a squat rack anymore :/ but i've been following the NerdFitness beginner bodyweight workout. I want to be able to complete it all 4 times in a row and then move on to the advanced one. Meditation...I'm working on it! I always forget it's a goal so I might have to tape up some reminders! At my internship, I'm a summer camp intern at an outdoor school. I'm honestly not much of an outdoorsy person, as in i don't have much experience in outdoor recreation, yet all the interns here, as well as the instructors do. I feel a bit out of place and sometimes a little afraid that the other people will "find out" and not like me for it. Granted, it's only been a week but I still feel like I'm not experienced enough :/
  2. Wahhhh I've finally had time to sit down and get in the zone! I've been at training for my internship this summer at an outdoor school! Lots of time outside; lots of hiking and running after children! And best part is, my fellow interns are totally into activity outside: bike riding, trail running, hiking, and more! Aaaaaand, the island I'm on is super hilly I'm also listed as gluten-free in the kitchen...so that may...or may not help me control my eating!
  3. Thanks for the support Tateman and missjoana! I'm going to make a big note on the front screen of my phone and put my goals. I got back into squattting and got to put a beautiful 45lb. weight on each side!! It's still tough to get those 5 reps in with good form but I think i'm making good progress As for eating....still haven't gotten a good grip on that. So much free stuff being offered that the temptation wins :/ My meditation IS DESPERATELY NEEDED! I'll be moving to Bainbridge Island for the summer and hopefully I'll have some peace of mind there.
  4. Hey! How's your water intake coming along?? I think I might make those clear water bottles with time labels so I'm not chugging to get my 4-5 refills in I like your goal modifications also! Sometimes I'm not sure if I got so specific that I feel like its unattainable ://
  5. I've been eating too poorly this week With the stress of dead week and finals, I'm finding it hard to keep this challenge at the front of my mind :/ It's not until I've consumed a donut and some chips do I remember what I'm supposed to be doing for the challenge. The only thing I've really done is drink LOTS of water throughout the day. I hope to be able to tackle the rest of the challenge once finals are over and I return to a well-rested, sane state!
  6. I've seen that, too! I think it's a really good idea my schedule is all over the place too though. And i'm not sure it does me that good if I find myself chugging water closer to the end of the day--not necessarily the desired habit! thanks for the suggestions
  7. Love your goals! Kickin' fast food can be tough but you got it!!
  8. Thanks all for the encouragement! I've been in such a slump in terms of my diet. I went out to eat for a going-away dinner and ended up getting some sweet potato fries along with a turkey sandwich (but it had avocado and bacon....). I'm finding it difficult to avoid corn or wheat....it's in everything!! Additionally, I'm an RA in a residence hall that has a student-volunteer-run ice cream cafe. I spend a lot of time in there because I've become great friends with the volunteers and coordinators--and I get free whatever I want, whenever they're open. So much ice cream. Just being in there is already the start of a spiral downward >.< it also doesn't help that it's one of the best procrastination spots...so EFF finals!! The cafe closes tomorrow thank goodness and I'll be done with all my final projects and what not Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to seriously focus then. On the other hand, I've been keeping up on my water everyday! A's for that! WOO! I've definitely had to pee like Seabiscuit but I do notice that I'm not as tempted to snack. With dead week upon me, sitting for just 1 minute and not doing something school-related stresses me out. I really need to just take a breather and remind myself that a minute of meditation may just make the difference in my concentration. And the squatting--I played pick-up basketball for about 3 hours yesterday so I took a rest day today. Hoping to be back and lifting tomorrow morning, bright and early!
  9. Great goals and I think your grading system is definitely practical! Good luck )
  10. Awesome goals! I seriously need to limit my Internet too....it's just so easy to spend hours and hours (especially reading NF articles!). Good luck! Can't wait to hear about your progress over the next few weeks
  11. Hi! Your goals are so great I like how you assigned points and even bonus points. Go YOU!
  12. Wow! Your lifting stats are amazing!! I definitely dig the specificity look forward to the progresssss!
  13. @Heidi, thanks for the links! I'll check them out for sure and start incorporating them. I'm scared that without my power rack and the olympic bar I'll come back to school in the fall unable to pick up where I left off. But maybe I'll have a new found routine that can replace the free weight room....
  14. You and I share some goals--not explicitly since I wanted to work on my diet first BUT I love lifting heavy and want to go paleo (as much as possible) as well. I look forward to watching your progress!! Also, I have yet to buy any of the Nerd Fitness guides because I'm hesitant to spend more money on routines :/ I love NF though..... I just spent money on some other programs that were not as great :/
  15. Your goals are so great!! Getting enough sleep is probably the hardest for me....I feel like there's not enough time in the world to get everything done that needs to be done Look forward to seeing your progress
  16. I think NF is one of the most welcoming communities though!! (to be honest, I don't know much or anything about more than half the stuff Steve and other people reference.....). Your goals are definitely SMART too! I look forward to seeing your progress Good luck with the poetry....that's awesome that you want to start getting into it. I've always found it difficult to really analyze poems and decipher what the author "was thinking" when he/she wrote it. Kudos!
  17. Great goals! I'm trying to go paleo as well I also just took a Quantitative Methods class and it killed me....especially with finals rolling around D: look forward to your progress
  18. awesome! I'm trying to go paleo as well....it's so hard when there's free food and people offering you anything and everything... looking forward to your progress!
  19. great goals! Good luck!! I think you've put a lot of thought into what you wanna change! loook forward to seeing your progress!!
  20. LOLLL, this is the freakin' truth though! My friends used to tell me I had a tiny bladder back when I drank over a gallon a day during basketball season!
  21. Heidi! I've been doing well with drinking water and avoiding corn, wheat, and excess sugar! I haven't had a chance to get back into the weight room yet--tomorrow! How are you doing so far??
  22. I managed to fill up my water bottle 3 times! I think if I make it a conscious thing to keep track and make sure I meet the fill-up quota, it will be easier to actually drink all that water too!
  23. Excited to start my very first NF 6-week Challenge!!
