  1. Imagining is always a fun hobby. I used to do it back when I had free time. I'd read a book and then set up a similar situation. Reading books are good because you don't have to invest lots of money and you can put it down. also I've been watching korean dramas, but that becomes very time consuming since I can't stop. Drawing is also a good hobby. or writing. most of them really depend how well you can just set them down and how involved you want to be. plus it just depends what you like. Another fun hobby is doing nice things for people. Or some people make stories up about people. I think my problem is I can consider anything a hobby...hehe.
  2. Last week was alright, I didn't get any dancing in, but my foot has been bothering me for some reason, maybe all the running around I did during finals week with three part time jobs. I should still do some dancing, just not on that foot. I did write in my journal, one letter was to myself about how I was feeling, which was a lot, and all over the grid, the other was a love letter to myself which helped put everything else in perspective. I did fairly well with the french, I leaned the word for sewing, coudre, the word for thus ainsi which I learned from celine dion's song, pour que tu m'aimes encore. Love her. Then I looked up the word for croque, like croque monsieur. Except this was croque en bouche which is funny because croque means to munch and bouche is mouth. Then I just did a lot of reviewing because it has been awhile and I had forgotten some words. I was kind of encouraged to hear that I wasn't the only one who didn't do perfectly, so keep that in mind even if you are disapointed with yourself, even that can be encouraging to others. I'm glad the detective idea was so well recieved! hehe it is fun! Ensi! Vous parlez francaise! C'ette magnefique! Gypsy Heart, that's too bad you have to take three days off of your schedule. But make sure you don't beat yourself up about it since you have no control over it.
  3. Veneas, you can make it to scout/ranger! We do need scouts, otherwise we won't know what to expect, and if we need to get a message to another group, well it would take a while. hehe! Just remember, while you keep that goal in mind, live one day at a time, without forgetting the loveliness of each day! I find that I tend to get stuck in the wishfulness of getting there already, then I forget to enjoy the small moments that make up life. Those are very important too. Hmm maybe for my next challenge I should try a thankfullness challenge...hmm I'll have to keep that in mind. I totally understand about utter complete platteaus. I do that a lot. That's why I'm using dance for my workouts, because I didn't enjoy the gym, and was feeling guilty not going, but didn't want to go! That's kind of why I am in Adventurer, because I don't know what to put myself as, plus I have begun. Ensi, I think it's great that you know your limits and not to push yourself too much. Maybe you can think of some fun game to play with yourself to help cut back on snacking. Something more fun than the ultimatum NO SNACKS. I know that I get in a fight with myself and go pout, then usually my snacking side wins . Or maybe you can negotiate, if you don't snack, you will have something you really like for supper. I also know that some people instead of having three big meals sometimes make five small meals for the day. For tracking what you eat, maybe it would be easier if you were an investigative reporter or cop. Excuse me Ensi, I am Officer Isne, I have a few questions for you. At 8 am this morning...what did you eat?' Ensi- Officer, I ate a fourth cup of oatmeal with some milk. Isne- I have a report saying you also had a snack right after the meal. Ensi- No officer, I almost had a yogurt, but I decided not to. Isne- I see. How much water did you have today. Esni- I do not see how this relates to your case officer. Isne- Let me decide that. Answer the question! HEhe! Green eggs- it is helpful then that the 'lingua franca' is English there. that is ironic. Also if we did everything in the mornings we would have to have eight hour mornings and we wouldn't get most of the things done because by the time we'd reach it, it wouldn't be first thing, and we'd be burnt out hehe watermelon. They have funny smiley faces!
  4. Green Eggs, you sound like you're already doing well! Glad to have you, Do you speak French since you were in Paris? I'm still working on my French goals. I've almost forgotten to look up words. probably should choose it first thing in the morning, like you are doing with exercise.
  5. GypsyHeart I took a jazz class recently, so I really like that, and I've been watching a lot of korean pop dances too. So I really like a lot of different dances. Usually when I dance I end up doing some kind of interpretive dance added in. Recently I watched some bollywood dancers and I love how flowy and graceful they are and of course I love their colorful outfits! I've done some partner dances on and off. I really want to learn salsa. Basically in the end I mash up all the dancing styles and incorporate moves in my dances. If I want a fast dance often times kpop is good for that. French word for today, coudre apparently means to sew on or sew up.
  6. I just got an email from flylady, one of her subscribers writes the meals she is going to that week on sticky notes, then after the week is over, she moves them ahead a few weeks and mixes them up as desired for the future. I was reading your post about disney songs. I love disney songs! I sing them at work all the time. It helps me get through boring, tough and fun times. I especially like the hercules song, Go the Distance. I'm planning on listening to some of the disney songs in french to help with my french
  7. You should come up with some awesome motivation for when you start feeling sluggish towards your goal, eg something you enjoy doing to be a small prize on the way. Keep up the good work, I totally understand about goals fizziling out!
  8. Good job at keeping up with your goal! I understand about going to the gym, it's hard. I actually finally gave up on it for the most part, which is why my goal is dancing because I enjoy it much more. Who knows maybe some day in the future.... Anyhow, I was thinking that maybe if you attach something fun to going to the gym, like when you get back from the gym and shower then you can watch a movie you really like, or read a chapter out of your favorite book. Or if you do find an amazing playlist, you can try out those songs. One song I always like either running to or pretending to run to is the chariots of fire song, I don't know if you have seen chariots of fire but it's about the racer, Eric Liddel. Or sometimes to get myself motivated to do something I pretend I am a secret agent entering an enemy base. You should totally do that, infiltrate the base every time you go, and report back to headquarters! hehe! I don't think you need to increase your intermediate goal unless you want to and feel like it will help you, and I think sticking with five is a good idea, especially since you don't want to get overwhelmed with setting the goals. Nice job with the eating, I don't know if you need another game for it, but you can pretend you are bond. James Bond or some other highly desirable agent, desirable in that every other agency wants you dead. by eating your own food you are avoiding the booby traps that the other agents have planted. They are delivered to you by your unsuspecting friends. Each meal is another mission well done and another agency foiled. make sure you do the quiet all knowing smile and nod your congratulations to yourself. Maybe pretending to be an infiltrating agent will help with the selfconciousness that you are having of not wanting to try weights and comparing yourself to the others. Just remember, they will never suspect you, so you have the upper hand here. Make sure you ask a lot of questions, like how to do free weights, because you need to get as much information out of them as you can! Good luck agent GypsyHeart fairlybethy
  9. So I see we have two new members, lalak and GypsyHeart, feel free to introduce yourselves and what your goals are as well as anything that comes to mind!
  10. This is so exciting already! girljen, you should check out the website flylady, she says to set a timer and for however long you have the timer set for, to clean as intensely as you can. Because I don't know about you, but when I clean I am like the dog in the movie UP, clean this...oh maybe go over here and clean that ooh Squirrel! yay! Also, I got the idea for the letter writing from SARK, along with the succulent part of the name. She is one of those people who has a website, and you can read her books, but she is all about enjoying life, and learning to love yourself. If you get a chance it is fun to look at some of her ideas! echoesofwonder, I love your name first of all, it makes me happy! Also you should check out the flylady site too, she has some meal suggestions, and there is this site that has a free trial for setting up a budget, it is called YNAB, you need a budget. I think the trial is about a month long. Or there is this awesome book called The GOOD book: Get out of debt, and I don't think it covers budget making as much, but it has some fun ways to keep from spending. Feel free to message me any questions or suggestions. This is so exciting!
