  1. Ah das ist sehr gut!! You'll have to keep me posted on the German stuff Mekong! Hell yeah! Straight outta South Carolina! (Doesn't sound that great tbh!) Where you from? And yeah love me a bit of Rammstein! Nah Briniel it's just because my dad brought me up on it so it's always good memories I listen to other German bands like Kraftwerk and Neu! Got any other recommendations?
  2. Teros - loving that video! The Monkey Cellists were kinda distracting me from the music first time round so I had to listen again without watching. But me likely! Nice contrast from the Rammstein I usually listen to DAY 1: So today has been pretty good. First day back at work after having a nice lazy week off. Didn't do a workout today because Monday's are usually Cub nights and I wanna have the habit of working out every Tuesday and Thursday to begin with. Currently drinking my last 500ml of water - didn't anticipate how many glasses and cups of water I'd be drinking! Had 1 cup of coffee when I got to work this morning and had 500ml of Strawberry Flavoured water (the stuff from Volvic that's like 2 calories). And completed some German lessons on Duolingo! Best start to any NF challenge I've ever had! Hope you rebels are getting on ok and I'll check on your threads for your updates
  3. Dankt allen! (Thanks everyone) Yeah I thought 4L was quite a bit as well but then I remembered I drink quite a lot of water at work anyway. So adding the extra in before meals should get me there I WANNA ROCK!
  4. Great looking goals you have there Jonesy! A question, if you don't mind? I've also been having back problems (prolapsed disc in lumbar region) - what sort of stretches do you do? The ones my doc has given ~kinda help but I'm open for other things that have worked for others? Good luck in your challenge and quests Rebel!
  5. Hi Petefeet - following you on your journey. Good luck Rebel!
  6. "Returning," you say? Yes. Years and years ago (ok maybe not quite that long but we are talking about 2013 time...I think), I was once part of the rebellion. I had my goals and quests set out, workout routines planned etc but fell out of sync and left the pack that is the NF family. I won't go into too much detail about the past because I'm focussing on the present and the future however the main reasons for my previous failures was due to depression, suicide attempts, family feuds, prolapsed spinal disc, house eviction - but I say NO MORE! I need to get my mind and body back into shape so I can cope a bit better with whatever life throws at me. So without further ado... MAIN QUEST: Get below the 200lb mark (currently weighing in ~220lb) by Star Wars Day. About a year ago I started volunteering as a Cub Scout Leader so I want to be able to lose that weight as a start and then incorporate more exercise and nutrition changes in time for a big County Camp in June. To do this, I will have the following missions for this challenge: 1. Perform the NF Beginner Bodyweight Workout at least twice a week As I still have slight problems with my back I don't want to start off with too much but I know that bringing exercise back in will strengthen my core and means I can cut back on the cocodamol and tramadol I'm popping every day! 2. Increase water intake: 4 Litres daily I'm notorious for not drinking enough water so I want to reach the recommended intake for 4L by the end of the 4 weeks. To help, I'll have 2 cups (approx. 500ml) before each meal and at least 1 cup as soon as I wake up and just before heading to bed. 3. Limit takeaways to once a week My SO and I are currently about 50/50 with cooking and ordering during the week due to work shifts and lazy housemates using all dishes and utensils and then not washing anything for a month! *Breathe*. So we'll be doing meal plans and more food prep to reach this target. Level Up Your Life: Complete 30 minutes of Duolingo German lesson daily This was also on my first challenge all those years ago and I kinda fizzled out with it. But I love the German language and want to become fluent in it. I work with a couple people that also speak German so I'm gonna have them challenge me by ONLY conversing with me in German. Let's see if I can stick with it this time! And to everyone else - good luck Adventurers!
  7. Nice goals you have set out there. Never heard of the SNAC(K) format but that looks pretty solid!! I may be dumb asking this but what does the 'K' stand for? Looking forward to following you on your journey....that sounded a bit more creepier than it should've done....my bad!
  8. Nice set of quests and goals you got there LRD! I'm also rising from the ashes and looking to join the Adventurers. In regards to the living in the UK with family in the US - same here! I really like that quest of yours! I'll be keeping an eye on you Good luck adventurer!
  9. So....I've been part of the Rebellion for a few years now and attempted two challenges in that time and failed both miserably However I've been spending many months planning my 'come-back' and part of me sees this as the last chance to make effective changes that will actually stick! Last time, I thought I was making small and achievable goals but in my previous mental state, when life got in the way I reacted kinda badly. But any who... I love the NF community and I know this is the place for me. My medication is being sorted, I have a loving girlfriend and close family and friends supporting me - I'm gonna do it this time! I look forward to this New Year, the new challenge and wish everyone else the best for their quests!
  10. Morning all from damp and dreary England!! I am very, very sorry about my absence these past few weeks - things haven't really been going so great. First couple weeks were okay on the Paleo and Water front but I'm sad to say I haven't even completed any Bodyweight Circuits or attempted to plan things out I recently changed my dosage for the anti-depressants that I'm on, been working 12 hour days due to staff shortness and had a few relationship issues which I think, combined, caused me to lose motivation for most things in life. However I am trying to get back on it for this last week and a bit How are things going for you guys?
  11. Thanks so much guys RogueWelkin I'm more than happy to refer to you as RW since I am merely a young Padawan
  12. Very valid point RogueWelkin! I've edited my "Paleo" goal and I'll start things off by cutting out grains Thank you
  13. Hey Everyone! I'm back for my second challenge after slipping up quite a bit towards the end of my first I'm not very creative but I've seen a few people 'theme' their challenges so - why not! X-Men has been close to my heart since I was a kid so it's only fitting that I apply it here! MAIN QUEST: Ditch The Brotherhood and return to The Institute (NF) aka Lose weight and feel better about myself Goal 1 - Don't eat like Blob! I'm going back down the Paleo route with this one because I didn't quite stick it out on the first challenge but I felt the benefits and want that again. Following RogueWelkin's advice I'm gonna do things gradually and for this challenge I'll be removing grains from my diet. A - No Grains with 1 Cheat Day a week C - No Grains with 2 Cheat Days a week F - No Grains with 3 Cheat Days a week Goal 2 - Get in the Danger Room! I'm gonna introduce the BBWW into this challenge so I can maximise my weight loss ability alongside eating clean: A - Complete circuit 3x a week C - Complete circuit 2x a week F - Complete circuit once a week Goal 3 - Become Pyro's Enemy! Ok maybe not his enemy but at least annoy him. And what annoys a fire manipulator - water! I failed the water part of my first challenge so I'm bringing it back! A - Drink at least 1.5L of water daily C - Drink 1L of water daily F - Drink <500ml of water daily LIFE QUEST: Visit Uncle Nightcrawler I was actually born in Germany (but not a national - military brat, long story) but I love the language and enjoyed learning German at school. So now I wanna get back into it and I've got the duoLingo App on my phone. A - Complete 1 lesson 3x per week C - Complete 1 lesson 2x per week F - Complete 1 lesson per week
  14. Whoa I'm sorry for the week (and a bit) of silence you guys! But I write this post from the laptop that has been resurrected!!! Last week I maintained Paleo during the week, had some pasta at the weekend but I didn't find myself wanting to over-indulge and eat loads of junk! However as I come into this week things have slipped on the sleep and water front merely because of my shifts changing to early starts. Luckily I'm still eating Paleo without much of an issue but I'm not meeting my water or sleep targets so far How's everyone else holding up?
  15. Mina - Luckily I've got a backup as well but like you said, it's such a mission to get everything up to date Laureleye - unfortunately in the UK we don't have good places like Trader Joe's or Pollo Loco =p However I did borrow your idea of the salad and quickly grilled up some chicken! I'm gonna do better next week by sitting down at the weekend and planning the weekly meal in accordance with my shift. Quick query though; a work friend (who's a bit of a health nut and following the Jodie Marsh Semtex thing) has said that my decision to go paleo and cutting out carbs/grains through the week could slow down my metabolism and effectively be a useless decision - can anyone shed some light? Thanks, RogueWolf
  16. So far I've been gettin on pretty well with the health goals; managed to overcome bad food temptations at work (although this evening I came home to a cheeseburger because I finished work late) and am so far on track with my water and sleep goals. Hope everyone else is doing good!
  17. Hi All! I know I'm a week late but I just joined the forums yesterday and 5 weeks is better than nothing! Bit of background first I guess: I'm 23, 5' 5", Desk Jockey, Overweight with a family history of health issues (diabetes, cancer, heart problems etc)...and I'm gonna put a stop to it. Both sides of my family are of the 'big-boned' variety and even as an active kid, I was still quite chunky. As the years went by, and a lifestyle of indulgence was maintained, the weight crept up and up. It's gotten to the stage now where I've been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Depression (of which I'm on medication and will leave that story for another time). I've gone on so many bandwagons with different diets and workouts but never see them through - I'm determined to stick with The Rebellion! The Paleo diet has caught my eye and I want to incorporate that into my lifestyle and then bring in the workouts once the diet has stuck. Goals: Eat Paleo 5 Days a week - Monday to Friday but without overindulging at the weekends A - Miss 0 Days Per Week C - Miss 2 Days Per Week F - Miss 3+ Days Per Week Drink minimum 1L of Water Daily - I know this seems a small amount but my water intake is abysmal! A - 1L+ Daily C - 0.75L Daily F - <0.5L Daily Average 7 hours sleep during the week - Poor sleep = Grouchy Worker + Poor Diet Choice A - 7 Hours Daily C - 6 Hours Daily F - <5 Hours Daily Repair my f*%$ing laptop - I'm too scared to open her up - as putting laptops back together was never my forte - but I NEED to access my accounting files and finish my clients' paperwork! Pass/Fail I know that with the help and support of you guys, I'm gonna make this change stick! Good luck to all!
  18. Hi Rebels! I'm Jade, 23 years of age, currently living in the UK and wanting to level up my life! I've always been on the chunky side ("Big-boned" because of my African-American lineage, as my mom would try to sugar coat it) since I was a child and have struggled with losing weight. I've fallen off the diet/exercise wagon so many times they don't save a space for me anymore! My mother suffers with Fibromyalgia, along with other muscular/fatigue issues, and my dad has diabetes and heart problems. I stumbled across NF a couple weeks ago but wanna start putting a plan in action. I'm sick of having little energy, being embarrassed about my body and clothes sizes and don't want my life to be fated to my heritage. I've done a lot of reading about the Paleo diet and plan to incorporate that into my lifestyle with immediate effect! Once I'm confident I'll stick with this diet, I'd like to then add in workouts and exercise to shift the pounds. You seem like an awesome group of guys 'n' gals and I appreciate any advice and support you have to offer! Thanks, RogueWolf
