  1. Sounds like a fun race!! I agree with Scatterbunn's advice, a lot of folks like those couch to ___ k apps. Do you have much experience running?
  2. Week 1/2 I didn't report last week! So you're getting double trouble this week. Goal 1 Distance Run miles: 25 per week... 15 last week and 20 this week 35/100 Goal 2 Strength Yoga class: 1 per week 1/4 Pushups: 3 x per week 5/12 Squats: 3 x per week 3/12 10 Goal 3 Diet Track calories using MFP, 7 days per week... Perfect week 1, missed 2 this week 12/28 100 g protein per day... Perfect protein 14/28 Goal 4 Meditation 10 minutes of meditation, at least 5 days per week 9/20 Weekly Score 0/4 No big prizes this time. Maybe next time!! A lot happened last week. It was my birthday so I went way off diet, eating lots of pie... pizza pie, pie pie, etc. Pie, glorious pie! I ended up having to work on my birthday, but made up for it by spending the day listening to Will Wheaton reading Ready Player One. Now my very favorite book. It's gotten me listening to Rush and playing text games. Found a good free one on Android called Magium, it's sort of choose your own adventure, but with stats. Been a lot of fun to explore. Some sad stuff happened this week, too. Found out that one of my close friends from college passed away in his sleep. We don't know the details... May have been drug related, and intentional. I haven't seen him in a couple of years, but we were in touch. We were actually supposed to get together the last time I was in California, but it didn't work out. I guess you never think about meeting someone like it's going to be the last time. I've been reading back over all of our text conversations from when I was 24... And really seeing how much I've grown since those days, and also noticing what a self-involved wanker I was. Hopefully the fact that I can observe that quality now indicates that I am less like that. Always something to be aware of. Anyway, took a look at the celebration of life happening in Portland, and figured out I hate everyone else on the guest list, so I will likely be doing a celebration of life on my own, looking at pictures of him, reading back over his e-mails, and listening to some of his music. It's sad.
  3. I don't want to go running! I don't want to go running! Oh fine, I'll go running Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  4. Hey, if you already have a PR, then you may have also just completed this week's scout mini challenge. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  5. Yesss! Glad you are back so we can discuss gear. Garmin just came in the mail and it's charging. It looks cute, it's a baby! Will update after first run to let you know how it goes. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  6. I would love to eat someplace called the "brew zoo." That sounds nom. Nice work on everything, seems like you're off to a great start. Good news about summer vacation!! Buttt sorry for the financial woes.
  7. Hope workout went well! I <3 acupuncture, had a whole acupuncture goal last challenge, it was awesome (and it really helped). "Acunaps" can be addictive tho!
  8. Hatter, glad you didn't get bitten by a poison snake!
  9. Why thank you!! A few days ago, I literally had to pick up each leg with my arms when going up big stairs. Not a joke! Thanks! Not as exciting as lock picking, but we can compare notes on meditation practice...
  10. I'm having the very same issue, have a squat goal but killed my quads the day before the challenge. I'm giving myself free points until quads work again. Quad work is quad work!
  11. Food trucks can be fun. Love the goals. Good to have you back!!
  12. Yay, thank you! It's going to be a lot of work, yes yes. Thank you!! Thank you so much!!! I'm really excited about all of the PRs, because I try really hard and am lucky to see even 1 PR in a single run. To get 11 PRs in one run is pure $$$ money, and it feels really good!
  13. Interesting article: "The best exercise for aging muscles" is... Wait for it... Interval training https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/03/23/well/move/the-best-exercise-for-aging-muscles.html Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  14. This is so exciting!! Speed work, can do that. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  15. Hi! Following along. Lock picking is damn cool. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  16. Found this watch on ultra clearance. Looks like it'll do what I want it to. It gets here Wednesday.
  17. Yesterday's race has me hobbling around my house. I can barely walk, it's true. Luckily the pain feels like some combination of cramping/DOMS, and not like I actually hurt something. Whatever, it was worth it. Feeling inspired to run another half soon. I was so close to getting a 2:15 half marathon that I think I can do it if I practice pace runs. I already have one scheduled for July 22nd, but might sign up for one 4th of July weekend (if it has pacers)! I would also like to start training with a running watch, so I can easily keep track of my pace. Given the current state of my gams, I'm going to try to keep the 25 mile goal for the week, but I'd like to skip 2 of the squat sessions. Recovery runs for the win, squats when I can walk up and down stairs.
  18. Nice point system, wishing you luck on your goals. Hope you can get back on track! Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  19. Hope you feel better soon! Glad you're seeing some reduction in pain. Keep it up! Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  20. Sounds like you had a great performance! Following along because I'm interested in pole dancing. I've done a little before myself, not at your level but just for kicks. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  21. Yay!! You have a lot going on, good luck with your goals! Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
  22. I'm really proud of myself!! I PR'd 11 times during today's half marathon. I could not fit the PRs all in one screenshot, there are 2. By the way, starlight walker on Strava if you'd like to find me.
