  2. Got a really busy week at work. At least 3 people are getting moved out of my department and I have the joy and privilege of doing all their work, which means nights and weekends. My strategy is to save the fun stuff for night time so that I don't feel bad about all the extra hours, but still... It blows.

I hope it won't affect my goals too much. In fact, I hope my goals will support my busy work life... but we'll see.

Thanks, it was awesome! Actually no races planned at this point, but anything's possible. Maybe I'll race something 5-50 k.

    Found you! :)

Following and looking forward to seeing you take on these challenges!

(Huh, there's a lot of runners here... I used to run a lot. May have to look into this three or four challenges from now.)

    Whenever you're ready! :)

  5. Happy New Year!!!! It's 2018, and anything is possible.

For me, 2017 was a great year for running. I ran 5 half marathons, 1 full marathon, and a total of 1000 miles. I feel really good about that! So much bling:

Because, what else do you do with medals, aside from posting them on the internet?

In continuation with my fitness streak, these are my goals for the challenge:

    1) Eat, drink, sleep, and exercise.

I've been using the Fitbit app to keep track of these things.

    • 10,000 steps, at least 5 days per week.
    • 2 L water per day.
    • 7 h sleep per night, with a 10 pm regular bed time.
    • Eat at a deficit: 1500-1700 calories per day.

    2) Meditate daily, 10 minutes.

This is something I've gotten out of the habit of doing, but I need to keep at it. I want to meditate 5 days per week!

    3) Write in journal 5 x per week.

Take the icky thoughts, put them in my journal.

That's it! Good luck, every body.

Do you have a fixed warm-up routine before your runs? I generally just start slowly (first kilometer of my runs at home is uphill) but don't do a real warm-up. Might need to add that too.

I do the same thing as you-- Slow running for the first 1 k or so to warm up. Really sorry about your knee pain. That's no fun, but it sounds like to did the right thing by slowing down instead of pushing through the pain. Anyway, keep it up!

Thanks Borg Queen! I've had a DNF (Did Not Finish) 50K race last April in Alabama. Who would have thought there are endless hills in Alabama? The downhills were a bomb. I went so fast and literally flying I could not have stopped until the ground levelled off. But the uphills totally destroyed me! Anyways, I got pulled out of the race halfway since I missed the cut-off by 30mins. That kinda messed up my self-confidence and I started questioning myself. I have not signed up for any races yet until I have these uphills covered somehow in my training runs. Thanks for the encouragement.

Agghh! Darned cutoffs. Well, sounds like it was a good time, anyway. I'm sure you'll get it next time. :)

    I just checked, geekfitness.com redirects to nerdfitness.com.  I think you're good @The Borg Queen.

    This is a hilarious fact!

According to this, I am so nerdy it's unbelievable, despite the fact that I love a good podcast. I literally went to "#seminary," belive "#thehobbit" is far superior to "#superman," think good grammar is about the most attractive thing you can find in a person, and don't even know what "drupal" means. NerdFitness, you are my home.

You broke the nerd scale! (Is that actually "the balance?" Ahhhh gawwwrd. )

  9. Welcome back! Very nice goals.

Hmmm... I should probably try out some of those knee exercises. Thanks for sharing.

I'm guessing if I can make it to 10k now, I should be able to build to 21k in a few months.

Absolutely! A 10 k is just a hop, skip and a jump away from a half marathon. Totally doable. :)
