  1. Happy Week 4!! Option 1- Bonus points if you hold longer when the VHS warps Option 2: For Dancers fans... we'll call this Dancers 2 If you need more, do them in succession!! Have fun! Work every single ab!
  2. Hatty time!! How are you doing?
  3. You know, I'm a huge @Mad_Hatter fan as much as the next person (we heart you!!), but at some point we just need a video. I will post something at 07:00 pst tomorrow unless one of you here beats me to it. Maybe I'll post one anyway? I like the idea of doing a multi video Week 4 Absssstravaganza. Work every ab!!!!
  4. This is going to sound funny... I just found the tracking sheet. So, ahem ahem, yeah I added myself.
  5. Had a pretty good week. Started a fall trail race series every other Wednesday evening through early November. I've don't it a few times before. Very fun! 20 mile training run yesterday. I bonked around mile 15 and had to walk a couple of miles, but otherwise think I did a pretty good job. Today x-trained on bike 17 miles around the neighborhood. Quads feel great today-- zero pain or hobbling, which I'm relieved about. Hopefully it's gone for good, but if not, I see more hills in my future.
  6. Thanksss it's still a month away!!
  7. Congrats on the weight loss! Hope your cold gets better
  8. Hi!! Good ideas, thanks for your support. I stretch every day. It isn't on my goal list because I'm in the habit of stretching while I watch TV, during short break at work, and sometimes before bed. Pretty good on stretching, I think.
  9. You've lost 10 lbs?? Congratulations!! Your list from the week got me stressed out just looking at it. Hang in there!
  10. Still running into some rocky, end-of-training issues. I cut my distance down last week and seem to have my energy back, which is a relief. Speed is getting to acceptable range. Then, I woke up yesterday and was having trouble walking due to left quad pain. The pain has been around for a few weeks, and until now I mostly ignored it. After "resting" last week, or potentially as a result of it, the quad decided that it needed attention right now! Lol. Read an article, posted in the scout common room, about quad pain and how eccentric activities like running down hill can repair the muscles causing the pain. Decided to take a risk and really went for it last night! The alternative would be to take 2 weeks off and not train, so I wanted to give it a try as a last ditch effort. Turns out I was right on the money. Did 5.5 miles of pretty extreme hills last night at a brisk pace. Couldn't walk well for a few hours afterward, but now-- low and behold, the next morning almost zero pain. Yesss! So I'm on the right track and can keep training. Also planning to hit some therapeutic ibuprofen. I generally try to avoid NSAIDs, but think that if they can get me through the last couple of weeks, let's do this. At the end of marathon training, I seem to have reached a point where I'm balancing overtraining with all of these little injuries and also the fear of arriving at race day with too few training miles. I know logically that I've done enough at this point to get there and finish. But fear doesn't always concede to logic. The fear is real.
  11. Very sweet to say, thank you.
  12. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.runnersworld.com/injury-prevention-recovery/cure-quad-pain-calf-pain-and-heavy-legs%3famp I think you should read this! I was having some stubborn quad pain and followed the advice. Was surprised to find zero stiffness and overall, great legs today. The article goes into a detailed explanation of why each "cure" works. It's really interesting perspective for training. Get your hills, people! [emoji4]
  13. I want to recommend a video for week 3!! I like these Gym Ra vids. Always filmed in beautiful places.
  14. Ah!! I followed you back! My LR should be visible but it's manually entered in. If I track the run with my phone, at this point it's so long that it kills my battery.
  15. What books are you considering? Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
  16. Ah! Thanks for reminding me, that's a good point. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
  17. Just did the man work out, where's my 6 pack? [emoji14] Pretty hard core! So much shirtless grunting. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
  18. Did some research and figured out that people often go through this stage of marathon training, and most seem to handle it by cutting miles for a short time. This is on the schedule for the week anyway, but I'm going to take it further. My plan is to do an elliptical run tomorrow at the gym, followed by a 10-12 miler on Saturday and an easy bike ride Sunday. Hope that puts me back on track. Did a 5.8 mile run today and already doing 1 min/mile better, so my slump already seems to be lifting. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
  19. Just did the dancer's video. It kicked my abss, but I loved it. Toes may or may not have pointed.
  20. I feel ridiculous to come on here and complain about how worn out I feel, but here I am. The last two runs have been a sad 13.5 min/mile... what the fuck. Granted, one of the "runs" was an 18 miler, but still, I should be able to do better than that. Confused about whether I should go into deep rest mode for a few days and not lift a damn finger while my body replenishes glycogen stores, or does whatever it needs to do to get fast again. The other option is keep on keeping on and chug through all the planned miles, with the idea that mile building will be slow and steady, with strong emphasis on SLOW. I have no idea. Feel free to chime in if you know about this. Sorry for all the swearing! Was about to go through and edit all of the swear words out, but then realized it was kind of funny.
  21. I have no idea how to point my toes. For the sake of fairness, I will do both videos this week.
