  1. Attempt 2 - Week 1 (19/08/2013 - 26/08/2013) Well... this is kinda embarrassing but as you can probably see my last attempt at Paleo only lasted a couple of weeks. Tomorrow, Monday the 19th of August, I will be starting again. Keep an eye out because I plan on keeping it up this time! Goal this week: start off eating completely Paleo (I may have the odd coffee or whatnot) but without restrictions on quantity until I've eased into the diet. No additional exercise (apart from my weekly tai chi/pilates/yoga class). I want to ensure that I'm on the right track before adding more goals.
  2. Week 5 19/07/2013 - 25/07/2013 Got my new bike! - It's a Trek Neko S and it's beautiful and fast. Saturday - Cycling - 1 h 15 min / 19.5 km: http://app.strava.com/activities/68399301
  3. Week 4 12/07/2013 - 18/07/2013 This week was terrible (Paleo-wise anyway). I spent the weekend at a work party and then let myself get carried away all week I'd say I was still about 60% Paleo so it could have been worse. Next week will be better!
  4. Week 3 05/07/2013 - 12/07/2013 Saturday - 15 min swim (500m) Sunday - 5 min bike warmup (2.1km) - 3 x 12 Rep Circuits (Squats with 10kg Kettlebell, Lunges with 4kg Dumbbells, Ab Curls with Ball, Box Push Ups, Crunches with Medicine Ball, Arm Curls with 4kg Dumbbells) - 2 x 12 Core Workout (Exercise Ball Crunch, Leg Raise) After yet another cheat day on Friday (a few beers and some chicken wings), I spent Saturday fasting with the exception of an apple in the evening. The local leisure centre offers a workout plan and trainer in the price, so I started that on Sunday I did less than I was meant to because I was wrecked, but will work on that. The goal is to do 4 series of everything and 20 minutes cardio in four weeks.
  5. Week 2 28/06/2013 - 04/07/2013 Monday - 45 minute boxercise class: running, punching techniques, push-ups, squats... Tuesday - 1 hour swimming masterclass Unfortunately that was the end of my exercise. I am way more out of shape than expected and was in a stupid amount of pain after swimming and so I took the rest of the week easy. As for food, Thursday was a cheat day and I had noodles and friend cheese and cake... I did ok most of the rest of the week though. I'm going to be stricter from now onward.
  6. Week 1 21/06/2013 - 27/06/2013 Week 1 went great! I've had a cold all week so I was unable to exercise, but I still stuck to paleo (I'm usually quite weak with colds). I had a few paleo snacks (paleo pecan pie, paleo coconut squares, paleo pancakes...) and the odd drink and hint of non-paleo food, but overall did at least 80% paleo and lost a bit of weight Tomorrow I'll be signing up to the gym to go to the various classes. I intend to to boxercise, swimming and pilates (as well as my usual Wednesday tai chi/pilates/yoga class).
  7. So I've made it through my first week of Paleo quite successfully, but will be going out to the pub tomorrow night. When I was on Weight Watchers my go-to was Diet Coke (which didn't always work - I'd end up drinking anyway) but that's now been ruled out with Paleo. What do you guys do on nights out? What do you drink that's Paleo? How to you stop the urge to have a drink or two or successfully say no to that friend who keeps in insisting on buying you a pint/getting you to drink one? The worse part is I'm painfully shy and am only ever fun and talkative with a couple of drinks in me (and yes, I realize that's another problem I need to sort out!).
  8. These are amazing! I found the recipe earlier today and just tried them out. I then rushed onto the forum to share it with everyone only to found that I've been beat to the chase I had mine with all-natural maple syrup, but definitely want to try berries, cinnamon, cashew butter.... mmm... so many options!
  9. Hey ThumperB, welcome! I'm sure you'll do fantastic this time We're fairly similar in history, height, weight, ups and downs and having lost a good bit of weight a few years ago and put it back on, so give me a shout if you need a buddy to keep you motivated. I've been daydreaming of my future abs lately... ^^
  10. Attempted W1D1 of Couch-to-5K and, although I felt pretty confident running my knee started hurting after 10 min so I quit. Must look into strengthening or switching workout plan. I'll not give up anyway!

  11. Hey Keeran, I just checked the Dublin Zombie Walk's Facebook page and it says there won't be one in 2013
  12. I'm going to publicly keep track of my goals and progress in this thread. Goals: 1. Switch to a Paleo diet - At first I'm focusing less on quantity as I get used to the diet change. I'll probably also allow myself a non-Paleo day a week. Slow and steady wins the race! 2. Do physical activity at least three times a week (I had to switch from running - bad knees and I'd hate to make them worse) Weight: 21/06/2013 - 93.5kg / 206.2lbs 29/06/2013 - 91.7kg / 202.2lbs (although I've noticed that my scale is inconsistent) 05/07/2013 - 93.6kg / 206.3lbs (after a cheat day ) 13/07/2013 - 93.2kg / 205.5lbs 19/07/2013 - 91.8kg / 202.4lbs Measurements (chest/waist/hips/upper arm/thigh): 29/06/2013 - 120cm/109cm/117cm/34cm/63cm / 47"/43"/46"/13"/25" (afternoon) 13/07/2013 - 117cm/102cm/117cm/34cm/63cm / 46"/40"/46"/13"/25" (morning)
  13. Thanks, those are great ideas! I'm thinking apples with cashew butter might work too I'm focusing more on just going Paleo without focusing on quantity at first. I feel like if I try to restrict portions and do too much exercise at once I'll end up quitting! It's a lifestyle change after all. I also just made a Paleo Pecan Pie and some Paleo Coconut Squares from online recipes for the week :
  14. I live in Dublin but I'm not seeing any Dubliners on this thread so far! I did live in Belfast for a good few years as well so I'm fond of the place The Dublin Zombie Walk is bound to be soon, right?
  15. Thanks SodaPirate! Paleo pretty much rules out most of the free snacks but I've done well on bananas and coconut water so far!
