  1. What you have there is basically my dream. I want to buy a project house and fix it up, but it's gonna be a while before I get there! And in regards to the burnout... It's a crappy situation to be in, but the upside is that you know you're in it and you're actively taking the steps to help yourself.
  2. Great job on the miles put in, and hey, if you've got a girl who likes your sweaty post-exercise selfies, then you've got a keeper!
  3. So far, so good! I most definitely am taking it easy today! They are terrifying, and that's just viewing it from the outside. But no matter how bad they get, I'm always going to want her with me for them so I actually know she's being taken care of properly. Heh, plenty of time to decide yet, and hey, even if you don't have the time to commit to a longer campaign, I'm gathering together a bunch of resources so I can run regular-ish one-shots for folks with exactly that kind of time commitment issue.
  4. I love everything about this, can I just say. I was sold on RuneQuest from the first post, and the game's attitude to gender and sexuality is a very nice bonus on top of that!
  5. This is all wonderful! (and I am absolutely including the Sigourney Weaver gif in that!) Hopefully the rain does not do what it did here and make black ice, because that would not be fun at all...
  6. ZERO WEEK END This week has sure been a week. I am flat out exhausted. Didn't get much sleep last night. Sunshine was very restless and every time she moved I was on alert... Fortunately it was just very vivid dreams and nothing more. I took her home this morning and spent a couple of hours with her and the pups (apparently they really missed me!), then went to work where time stopped for approximately six years. And that's that for today, I believe.
  7. Well, that sure is a list... Looking forward to seeing how your new house shapes up into a home!
  8. I did what I could, and now comes the recovery. Sadly we will not be spending the day together. I'm going to take her home, then go to work... It is truly atrocious and I love it! And for once the players did what I hoped they'd do, and thus the plot came creeping in...
  9. ZERO WEEK Wow did things ever not go to plan today. But shit happens, and the best thing to do is to adapt and keep moving forward. Health complications are not something that I can really do anything about, not of that nature anyway. Most of my day has been spent looking after Sunshine. She's doing better, but it was a bigger seizure than the last one I dealt with, so it's taking longer for her to recover. Enough so that I did cut D&D short today. I mean, I had long enough to put on the most atrocious English accent for two new NPCs and sew the seeds of doubt and suspicions into their minds. I just didn't do the full thing I had planned. Speaking of, a few folks have extended interest in my up-and-coming PbP, something which I have decided will be going ahead. Not immediately, I'll be giving myself a couple of weeks to set up properly, know my material, and adapt to a new style of DMing. So I'll kick things off properly on the 27th of this month. I'll be running Princes of the Apocalypse and am willing to take up to six players (which puts it at five places up for grabs until I know whether or not the party interested in the other space is going ahead with it). I might even take one or two more, depending. The sourcebook runs from level 1-15, and I intend to do the whole lot, so this has the potential to be a long one. I lean more towards the RP side than the hack'n'slash side of things, but there will be plenty of both. I'm pretty flexible on races and classes, so no limitations there so long as it comes from the official source material. So if you're interested give me a shout either here or on Discord, and when I've got that part of the server up and running properly I'll add you in there. (or alternatively I'll add you in there now, whichever works!) And with that, I rest.
  10. We both appreciate it, and she is indeed resting!
  11. Yeah, that was one of the first things nipped in the bud. Mostly my job when she's having a seizure is to strategically place pillows in the places she attempts to kick or headbutt my furniture, because that's a fight she won't win... We both appreciate that, thanks
  12. Obvious questions are fine, we both appreciate the concern. She's epileptic and has been having seizures for years. This is only the second one I've dealt with, but apparently I'm doing all of the right things. And she's doing much better now. Tired, sore, and grumpy, but better!
  13. 'twas indeed, and her stay has been extended a little. Unfortunately it's because she started off this morning with a bad seizure and is in no state to travel back home. But hey, I'd rather her be here where I can take care of her.
  14. It's been very draining, but ultimately satisfying. Ever since I moved to where I am now, I've found a massive improvement in health services. The doctors I've spoken to at the local practice have been patient and understanding, they've helped me out with resources, talked me through all of the options before we decided on medication, and they offered me a choice of mental health services and talked me through each of those options too. Before I have had to push doctors pretty hard to get anywhere in the past.
  15. ZERO WEEK Well. Today was a day. Had a doctors appointment and got so nervous that I cleaned my entire flat beforehand. Bonus? Now I have a clean flat! Also bonus, I'm now having my meds reviewed on a month-by-month basis in view to coming off of it this year, plus I have an appointment with their mental health nurse in a few weeks to discuss a long term, permanent-ish arrangement. And I have Sunshine here with me. So I am tired and happy.
  16. Thank you, that means a lot hearing that Thank you Thanks!
  17. Reframing how I look at things is going to be an important skill to learn. Thank you I'll figure things out eventually!
  18. You've come so far and you've worked incredibly hard. I don't know you well, but I know what I see, and that is a kind, compassionate, hard working, and determined person who deserves all the good that comes her way. You will heal.
  19. I started cutting my own hair a few years ago and haven't looked back since. For one, saves money on a huge scale! For another, no one argues with me that maybe I shouldn't get my hair a certain way/so short/etc. And finally, it's good fun!
