  1. Vrydag 1. ankle is getting slowly better. 2. 10 incline late night push-ups 3. Nope 4. Stuff happened. Part 2: European involvement. The first European who sailed around the southern tip of Africa was Bartolemeu Dias in 1488. He only went as far east as the present eastern Cape, before his crew demanded that they turn back. He erected a cross (padrao) at that point and returned to Portugal. The 500 year memorial stamp of the Dias Cross Memorial. The restored original cross is at the University of the Witwatersrand.

  3. I will come back to you on this one. I am taking your advice to rest a bit too well, and managed to oversleep the second morning running. Dinsdag 1. Did the stretching and massaging and icing thing again. Much better, I can almost stand on my toes. 2. 4 normal push-ups, 6 knee push ups. My arms just didn't want to cooperate, and trying to do a push-ups while the dogs is sniffing my ears is almost impossible. 3. Nope. This is getting to be a crisis. 4. Adulting: Swept the driveway. Our painter didn't arrive at work for the second day running. I spend the day spraypainting in the spray room. Almost like being alone.
  4. Will do a proper response for Jean sometime when I am awake. Dinsdag 1. The stretching massaging thing happened. 2. 13 Knee push-ups 3. Nope 4. Feeling sorry for myself again. It is really not good. 2 months until my birthday and I have started to wonder what the family will do to fuck this one up as well. Surprisingly not very cold at all. Slept through and then managed to doze again.
  5. Maandag 1. No running. Did stretching, calf raises and massaged my tendon. Twice 2. 12 knee push-ups 3. Nope 4. No adulting. Some work. Woke up at 4 and obviously wasn't going to sleep again. Strangely enough it is not really cold. Promised myself I am going to stop buying books, and promptly bought 16. A nice little Afrikaans poem for you people out there.

There is not much I can write about this day that will not upset me. According to Dr Google I have got achilles tendonitis. Easily cured, it just need some commitment.
  7. Saterdag 1. Parkrun. 14 out of 45. It was a cold and misty morning. Time 33:22. 2. Completely forgot about the Push-ups. 3. Nope 4. I overdid something in the parkrun. My old achilles tendon pain flared up and I can hardly walk. Both feet. Saturday night movie was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Books completed this week: The Shepherd's Crown by Terry Pratchett My gun was Quick by Mickey Spillane Die Tydren by Le Roi Steenkamp
  8. And for some reason I did not submit my reply for yesterday. Vrydag 1. Nope 2. 7 push-ups 3. Nope 4. Adulting: Nope, but I did cut my nails. I had to buy catfood, decided to buy some biscuits, and somehow ended up with four chocolate bars. It was not one an enjoyable day. My mind went funny.
  9. Donderdag 1. The parkrun times were repaired. According to them I was 11th, with a time of 33:41. But I didn't run today. 2. 10 knee push-ups 3. nope 4. Adulting: Cleaned outside. Machine back in operation after I threw a few tantrums. We will not talk about the fries.
  10. Woensdag 1. No running. I am sort of reaching the point where I have to accept that is not going to happen during this winter. Too cold, Dark too early etc. But the worst should be over in 4 weeks. 2. There were 6 push-ups in my life yesterday. 3. Nope. 4. Adulting: Did some weeding. I also went through my 118 Youtube channels I subscribe to, and I decided I have good taste. Got an emergency machine running, replaced another's fan belt and had a start at repairing the big one. We have got a biggish order. Book completed: Humanity, an Emotional History by Stuart Walton.
  11. Dinsdag 1. No running. I did get onto the elliptical, but after 2 minutes the boredom overtook me and I stopped. 2. 6 incline push-ups 3. Nope 4. Adulting: replaced my watch battery, did some weeding, made my bed. Finally registered onto a website and made a payment. Freezing cold day. By 10 I went home and got myself some warmer clothes.
  12. Maandag 1. No running. 2. Managed 5 push-ups. A small start 3. Nope 4. Adulting: printed an image, printed a list, did some weeding in the garden. A water pipe burst in town, so we had the evening without water. It was a windy, dusty day, very unpleasant, but not very cold.
  13. Sondag 1. And as I thought, the Parkrun results were a mess. Nothing I can do about it, and it probably will not be repaired. At least it makes me look cool. 2. Nope 3.Nope 4. Took the dogs for a walk, went to the workshop, slept, internet, slept. I did have a moment of being adult, and I managed to get home on the fumes in my tank.
  14. Saterdag 1. Parkrun. I think there was a mess-up with the numbers and times. I ran the entire 5K, according to the system I was 6th, and with a time of 27.52. I am not that good. Two girls passed me from behind while chatting. 2. Nope 3. Nope 4. 2 hours all alone at the workshop, reading a book and cats on my lap. Bliss Afternoon nap. Saturday night movie was The Lady vanishes, a 1938 film by Alfred Hitchcock.
  15. Vrydag 1. Nope 2. Nope 3.Nope 4. I actually accomplished something in the workshop today, and I have one less thing to worry about. And I spend 5 minutes cleaning up in the garden. Book completed: The Tommyknockers, Stephen King.
  16. Donderdag 1. No running 2. No push-ups 3. No food journal 4. No energy. I spent half of my day at work reading. I am trying to feel guilty about it. No sniffles this morning, no coughing. I am over this. I think my biggest need at the moment is not to be near any people for any reason. It may not be a healthy long term goal, but for now it is all I can think of. The detachment thing is difficult. I almost cracked twice this week when my father said something.
  17. Introvert days among these lot is impossible. Woensdag 1. No running 2. No push-ups 3. We will not talk about the Lays or the Pizza slices. Or the scale. 4. It was a bad day. Looking online for a support group helpline is never a good thing. It is just a waste of time talking to people.
  18. Dinsdag 1. Should have run, too cold in the morning, and I got messed around at work. I did a minute or so running while walking the dogs. 2. No push-ups 3. No writing. 4. The sniffles is much better. People drive me crazy.
  19. Last challenge didn't happen. Bronchitis seems to be over, but I am still stuck with a runny nose. On the good side, my ankle seems to be right, at least I can run again. 1. Run. Slowly. 2. Do push-ups. 3. Keep a food journal. 4. Whatever.
  20. Past week. Still snotty and slimy, but I am feeling OK. Did Parkrun Saturday, 35 minutes, 11th place. I am sort of pleased about that. My ankle survived, and I ran most of the way. I am worried. I have trouble I need to sort out, and I do not even want to act like an adult about it. The loneliness is killing me.
  21. Long weekend. I had the sense to act sick. I stayed at home the entire weekend, dressed warmly and drinking pills. Coughed out my lungs at first, but it got better and better. At the moment I am still wheezing a bit, but it is not painful anymore, so I have to go to work. I will see how it goes. I had enough sleep. It is weird not to be tired.
  22. Some days later. IT seems that I have beaten the bronchitis. I still feel like crap sometimes, but the pain is gone. Planning on being very careful for a few days more, it has the habit of coming back with a vengeance. I have slept enough last night. Feels weird. I think it was the pills. The cat has been to the vet and back. I am now very poor, but I do not have to worry about kittens again.
  23. Dinsdag 1. Did some running/walking. After work. It is too freaking cold in the morning. 2. Nope 3. In bed at 9:40, read until 10:40, awake at 3 Up at 5:30 4. I did not dress warmly enough. Will have to dose myself with pills again, I am on the edge of bronchitis. I finished 4 books since Saturday. 2 were short, but every time I began reading obsessively I know something is wrong. I actually had the idea of dressing in running clothes, leave the front door, slip around the house and spend the time in my bedroom reading. I do not like winter anymore.
  24. Everything we own is old and patched. If we wait a little more time we can start selling it as antiques. . The microwave is 40 years old, my mother got it before we moved to this town. Our local vet is very cheap. They charge R700 for the operation, the shelter charge R650, and I have to drive out of town for that. I cannot do better, and I know the people. But we will survive. We are solvent, it is just the cash flow that is bad. Trying to scrape together the energy to start jogging again.
