  1. One the one hand I want to agree and say it is very fast (especially considering German bureaucracy), but on the other hand they just have put two lists of names in order according to one numeral criteria each, even if there are thousands of applicants excel should be able to do the job in a matter of seconds. And then it is just printing out the acceptance letters. Granted they have their normal work, too, but still.
  2. For my first choice the first round of acceptance letters get sent from the 22th of July onwards, for my second choice they get sent from the 14th of August onwards. But if I don't get in in the first round, there is a second and third round later if some successful applicants don't enroll. And my third choice is not competitive, so acceptance there is secure for sure.
  3. Have been working out 5 days in a row this week, maybe today will be #6. Also I sent all my university applications out today. It is a good feeling, that it is done, even though I had two more weeks left. Now I can concentrate on looking for a job and a place to live (sadly the caravan idea seems to be not working out because of family problems...).
  4. I'm so happy, that nowadays that only rarely happens to me anymore.
  5. Sickness officially over! Yay! And I've been working out regularly again for two days. Double yay! The heat wave stopped also a couple of days ago. Triple Yay!
  6. It is a european dairy product, very rich in protein and the most important igredient for a real cheese cake. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quark_(dairy_product)
  7. Internet is still in and out Sometimes it works, sometimes not, and if it works it doesn't on all devices in the house. So I'll use this opportunity, although there is not much to report: Week 1 Recap Quest 1 - Strength: one Deadlift session 3x16 @24kg Quest 2 - Kettlebells: one swinging session with 100 swings @16kg Quest 3 - Muscular Endurance: Quest 4 - Nutrition: not so good Ques 5 - Life Change: did some more sorting
  8. Our internet pipes were clogged these last few days (figuratively speaking). Therefore no updates here or other fun stuff. On the plus side, I was reading a lot of books. Week 1 recap coming up later today, although there is not much to recap....
  9. To be fair it is in one case (although only because of a court ruling, not a political decision), if you have children from a previous straight relationship (and you have custody), than your partner can adopt them as stepchildren. But since that is not applicable to a lot of people, it doesn't really count. I don't think Nazis or Hooligans would beat up redheads or women just for passing by. And I'm not saying they couldn't be worse. But that doesn't mean they are good either and right now I'm really fed up with people (not you obviously), who tell me to be content with what I have, even though they know nothing about what it means to be gay/trans/queer.
  10. Not officially at least, but unofficially hell yeah. Unless I work for the catholic church, then you can officially get fired in Germany because you are gay and that is the law. No, I can't. A civil union is not the same thing, because it doesn't entail the same rights. Gay couples cannot adopt children together in Germany and single people can't adopt regardless of their sexuality, so no I can't. There are areas and situations where two man can't hold hands or kiss without the fear of being beaten up or worse.
  11. That is the same argument people make, when they somehow declare that homeless/poor people in rich countries are still way better off than in Africa etc. I just don't get that. It doesn't matter where you starve, you suffer anyway... And you can't rank the pain of different people, because you haven't lived their lifes. Yes, maybe I would be already dead in a country with less or no gay rights, but that could be a blessing compared to a lifetime of living in an officially accepting but actually discriminating society.
  12. Week 0 Recap Quest 1 - Strength: Two sessions doing KB Military Presses, Ring Rows, KB Rows, KB Step Ups, KB Cleans, KB Squats and KB Deadlifts Quest 2 - Kettlebells: no swinging unfortunately Quest 3 - Muscular Endurance: also nothing Quest 4 - Nutrition: There are not much sweets around at the moment, which is good, but otherwise not a good week Ques 5 - Life Change: I finished two of my three back up applications, just need to print them and send them away. Also inspected my parents caravan, in which I could live very cheaply, and it is definitly suitable for me.
  13. I wasn't really frightened, because here in Germany mass shootings are very rare and we are (I'm sorry to say that) kind of numbed about them happening in the states regularly. But I was really angry these last days about two things. One was the comments of people downplaying the attack because of the sexualities of the victims, justifiying or even congratulating the attacker. Second thing is that so many people are treating this as an attack against the open western society, which it isn't. This so called open society is still full of homophobia and discrimination which fuels the hatred that caused this suffering. It also makes me very sad, that most majority people just can't or don't want to see that.
  14. I want to do a programm called "Physical Activity and Health", it's mainly Exercise Science and how exercise (as well as nutrition and lifestyle) can be used to prevent and treat disease, but classes in science/biology, nutrition, medicine, psychology/education, health science are also part of the curriculum. If I can't get in there, I've got two backup programmes: "Biomedical Science", which is more generally about human health with specializations like immunology, cancer biology or neurobiology (it is also more research oriented and less directly applicable than my first choice) and high school teaching licensure programme (subjects would be biology and English as a foreign language for sure and maybe a third).
  15. I actually just found my old gameboy and Pokémon Blue like two days ago and played around with for the first time in years, which was great! Go, get them, girl!
  16. June Challenge : Team Cap needs reinforcement A Civil War has turned everything upside down. It is a time full of upheavals and changes. The heroes of our world have left their old paths to remain the protectors we need.... My personal life is also on the edge of changing. This change has been looming for several months now, but has been sped up by recent events. Long story short, I decided to go back to college to get the qualifications I need to work in a job I like instead of doing things that stress me out and don't interest me. The idea has been in my head for about a year now and I decided a couple of months ago to apply for fall semester. Which also means moving to another town, finding a place to live there and a job. Since my parents decided to seperate last month and sell the house, that means I also have to take the stuff I've stored there over the years back, which means a lot of sorting out and giving up stuff, too. It also means, I don't know exactly when I'll have to move, which means my quest need to be movable as well (which is the main reason, that I won't continue with my ring training). QUEST 1 - Strength Kettlebell+Bodyweight workouts, this month I'll be doing Density training. Three times a week or every second day would be great. QUEST 2 - Kettlebells Still on my Swings goal, soon will be half time! QUEST 3 - Muscular Endurance Various Kettlebell+Bodyweight workouts, usually for time. QUEST 4 - Nutrition No sweets, no snacks, no seconds, occasionally IF. QUEST 5 - Life Change This entails: sending out applications for school, looking for/securing a place to live, and a job as well als preparing to move.
  17. One last post to this Agent May themed challenge, because I just read the following nugget of information which blew my mind (and at least according to wikipedia it is true). Ming-Na Wen, the actress who plays Agent Melinda May was also the voice of Mulan!!!
  18. End of the Challenge! Like you know, the second half just wasn't working. Although, I didn't do anything particular that was going against my goals and I managed to do at least two workouts per week or so. I hope that means I didn't loose too much ground. Anyway, the next challenge is planned out already, theme is in place. It will be a very future-oriented challenge not just fitness-wise and it is adapted to the my situation and the changes that will be coming soon. I hope I'll do a better job to follow your challenges also next time. Here is to a fresh start!
  19. So, yesterday was a mixed day..... It started off good. I went on a nice hike in the afternoon, the weather was perfect and I got about 23 km done (and countless up and downs). Thing was, the weather forecast predicted a storm, but it should have been started hours before I started hiking so I threw caution to the wind. And I was coming down the last summit and started to go home, when I heard the first thunder. So, I figured I better take a shortcut, and I was lucky (or so I thought), because there was a sign to the village I knew I had to get through to get back home. The sign lead me into the woods where after some time the path forked without a sign where to go. I took the right one, which after some time turned out to be a dead end. No big deal, I went back and followed the other trail..... also a dead end. That's where it started to rain. When I got back to the edge of the forest, there was massive lightning and thunder going on directl above me and it just poured. Didn't seem like a good idea to go out into an open field, so I took cover under the trees and decided to wait it out. Half an hour later it hadn't stopped, but the center of the storm had moved a bit away. I knew there was another village in the other directions, and there was a bus station with a shelter, therefore I decided to go there, even though I would be soaked completely through till I got there. Which I was, but at least I was out of the rain. And my t-thirt had been kept partly dry under my sweater, althoug my (short) pants and shoes weren't. I waited about an hour there. A guy on a bicycle also took shelter there for a time. Fire trucks came by repeatedly and when it stopped pouring and was only raining, I put my wet sweater back on and hiked home (which took about an hour). Thank god, the trail I followed this time didn't lead me astray, although I had to walk through a stream that had left its bed. In the next village the streets were closed and people were trying to get the water out of their basements, some streets were underwater (the village is located in a valley). Back home everything was okay, because our house is on a hill. I took a hot shower, had finally something to eat (because I had fasted since dinner the day before) and was more or less restored (still sneezing a lot, but not feeling sick besides that). Apparently that was the biggest storm in my area in 20 years (100 l came down per square meter). In the town centre (the lowest part of the town) there was water up to 3 meters high in underbrigdes and the rivers were at a record high, too. Several parts of town were isolated and at least two people died (one of them a fireman in the line of duty).
  20. That's great, isn't it? My best friend is kinda neutral (I know!), but his girlfriend is team Stank Stark.
