  1. Sparring was great, we used grappling gloves instead of boxing gloves. The hits were harder, but I learned more. Yesterday I didn't go my exercise routine because I had to leave work early. I was going to make it up during lunch by walking for an hour or so, but the rain spoiled that. My motivation is still slipping, but I am trying.
  2. Tuesday I did the body weight workout. Wednesday was Krav Maga class. I really got worn out there. Tonight is Krav Maga sparring. Calories have been doing ok. I think I might have already messed them us for today though. I got invited to Fazoli's for lunch...
  3. Calories were out the window Saturday. I didn't bother counting but I am pretty sure the Thai for dinner, then 2 wiskey sours, and 1.5 scotches did me in. Did my workout on Monday, I also did some curls in the evening. I am going to try and do a body weight workout tonight. Things have been rough lately. The girlfriend is out of the picture and she was a good chunk of my motivation. I'm trying to shift the movitation to any possible people in the future.
  4. Ok, I really need to work on updating more often. Tuesday I did a body weight workout. Nothing special. Wednesday was my Krav Maga class. It kicked my butt. What we did for a warm up was called ground and pound. We had punching shields on the ground and was to kneel down and punch, hammer first, and elbow the pads continuaously. Then an exercise would be called out and we would have to do that until we were told to stop. I think it was 1 minute of pounding, then 30 seconds for each exercise. It was exhausting. Thursday I did one set of body weight, I was still exhausted from wednesday.
  5. Ok, it's been a while since the last update... oops. Calories have been good for a while. Last week I fell short on the body weight workouts. This week I did a punching bag routine on Sunday until the bag I made started to rip. Yesterday I did my elliptical and stationary bike routine. I also went over on calories. I blame my mom's cooking for that.
  6. Yesterday calories were on the edge again. I am really fighting snacking right now. I can't tell if it is snacking because I am hungry or because I am stressed/bored or something like that. Last night I did the body weight workout. Also, I forgot to report on Saturday I made progress on my Life Questy thing. I stood up to my girlfriend's brother while he was drunk and being a general asshat.
  7. Yesterday calories were on the edge. I've been battling snacking the last few days. I did do my elliptical and cycling routine. No worries there. Unfortunalty I am out of Season 1 missions in Zombies Run and my phone doesn't support Season 2. Oh well, I still have supply missions.
  8. On Friday I was on the edge calorie wise. Saturday I was over, but I knew I would be. Mom's cooking and cake. MMMMM. Sunday I did good.
  9. Calories were good yesterday. I did another 1% bodyweight workout. I could only do 3 sets, but I was able to do more pushups and such.
  10. Calories were good yesterday. I managed to avoid too much snacking after dinner. I drank a lot of water to fill my stomach. Yesterday was my Krav Maga class. Not too tiring this week, but I need to work on my punching technique. We are worked on knife disarms, which was a lot of fun.
  11. Yesterday went well as far as calories are concerned. It was a day of rest and no exercise routines were done.
  12. Yesterday I just right on the edge calorie wise. I did my elliptical and cycle routine. My legs weren't too happy about it, but I pushed through. I also decided to have my body hate me and I did a body weight workout in the evening. I did Routine B from here, but I could only get through 3 circuits and not 4. I'm feeling a little sore this morning, but it's not too bad.
  13. Are you trying to cut out all sugar period, or just processed sugar. Kind of curious. I've been trying to cut back on sugar outside of the challenges and it is hard. I know what you mean by sitting in front of the TV and snacking. It's a hard habit to cut.
  14. Proof, I just wanted to drop you a link to an article I read recently about saying "No". I thought it might help with stopping smoking. The article is about the power of saying "I don't" as opposed to "I can't". Just remember, you don't smoke.
  15. The elliptical I use can tell me, but I generally don't pay attention to it. The last time I didn't turn them off on the machine it said I burned 125 calories after going 2.0325 miles over the course of 19.5-ish minutes with an average pace of 9:33 / mile and an average heart rate of 129. It seems really low considering something like Endomondo says I burn closer to 200+ calories while walking the same distance at a slower pace. In the last challenge I lost about 10 lbs and still gained muscle so I think it is working out. I'm only 5' 10" and I weight about 155.
  16. 5.11 Tactical has some shorts that have side pockets and a zippered pocket right above the butt. They are kind of expensive, but I got mine on discount somewhere. The butt pocket is big enough for a phone without issue. It might also fit an inhaler or something. They probably won't help with the water and all of that, but it is a start. I've also seen things at walmart and similar places that are running belts. They have a place for water and a pouch thing kind of like a fanny pack.
  17. I'm in Indy, and grew up here. I don't know much about the gyms but I do hear people talk about them now and again. Let me know if you have questions about the city. I can try and help.
  18. In the last challenge I did alright with that. I try and focus on eating more protein that carbs so I am still able to build muscle and all. Oh well, if all else fails I can adjust it or something.
  19. Main Quest Lose the man-boobs and the gut. I understand that genetics plays a role, but I don't think my heritage should force me to have man boobs and a gut. I want to be proud of the body I live in, I also want to feel more attractive. If I gain weight that is fine, so long as it is not fat. This is my second challenge. The first one laid a good foundation, but now I need to keep going. Goal 1 Consume at most 1920 calories a day. This is the same amount from my previous challenge, but it is working well and I feel it is still fitting and a good goal. Goal 2 Once a week do a cardio workout that is mostly on the elliptical trainer and some sort of stationary bike. It sound last for about 30 minutes. My last challenge I was doing this twice a week, but I found that it could really hurt my knees, so I am cutting it back. This time I want to push myself really hard so I am forced to build my endurance even more. Don't think this is all of the carido I do though. I am outside walking my dog at least 30 minutes a day. I am usually on the floor playing with him as well. I also do martial arts, and often times walk outside after eating lunch at work. Goal 3 Twice a week do a body weight workout. I'm thinking about trying to follow the Beginner Body Weight Workout posted on NF. Life Quest This isn't measurable, so I won't be using this for points. I just want this posted to keep myself accountable. Lately I haven't been acting like the man I want to be. I've been reverting to the version of myself I want to leave behind. The version of me that doesn't stand up for himself and sits quietly because he thinks people won't like him if he says what's on his mind. I don't want that to be me anymore and I have been slipping. I'll try and post at least one instance a week where I was the man I want to be.
  20. My overall goal was to start losing my man-boobs and gut. I'd say I am off to a good start. I have lost at least 10 lbs and I have gained muscle. I look better without a shirt, but I still have further to go. Goal 1 - Reduce calories to 1920 a day or fewer. Grade: B+ Goal 2 - Exercise on the elliptical and stationary bike twice a week for a minimum of 30 minutes each session. Grade: A Goal 3 - Do set set of as many push ups as I can and one set of as many sit ups as a I can 2 - 3 times a week. Grade: C Life Quest - Read a book before bed 3 times a week. Grade: B Overall grade: B I made good process and learned about my limitations. I started running into issues with my knees when doing Goal 2. For the next challenge I am planning to take it a little easier on my knees and do a bit more weight training, mainly body weight workouts.
  21. Final Grading. Here is how I did this. As are 4 points, Bs are 3, Cs are 2, Ds are 1. I added everything up and divided by 6. Final Grade Goal 1: B+ (21/6 = 3.5) Goal 2: A (24 / 6 = 4) Goal 3: C (13 / 6 = about 2) Life Quest: B (19 / 6 = about 3) I've lost 15 pounds since June. I'd say at least 8 of it were during this challenge. I've burned off fat and look a lot better, but I still have a little further to go. I've gained some muscle as well. I'm feeling pretty good about this. I missed the post that said I gained level 1 after 3 weeks, and got 10 attribute points. So I am assigning all of that now, and giving myself level 2. LEVEL UP! to lvl 2 STR - 2.5 DEX - 2.5 STA - 1.5 CON - 2.5 WIS - 2.25 CHA - 1.75 For Goal 1 I split those points between CON and WIS since it was about health and making good choices. I split Goal 2 between DEX and STA since those are really what those cardio workouts were for. Goal 3 went all to STR. The Life Quest went to CHA because that was really about just getting into the habit of doing it.
  22. September 2 I did really well on calories. I drove in to work to use the nice gym to get my elliptical and cycling done. No reading. I passed out next to my dog on his bed for about an hour then woke up and got myself into bed... yeah.. I was tired. September 3 I did alright with calories. Did a lot of snacking, but I just cut calories later to make up for it. Did my reading. September 4 I did fine on calories, and I even did some reading. I also did push ups, but no sit ups. September 5 Calories were good. Push ups done. No reading or sit ups September 6 Calories came in way low. I had around 800 left over. No push ups, no sit ups. I did my usual routine. September 7 Calories were low again. 800 to 1000 left over. No push ups, no sit ups, no reading. September 8 Calories were good. No push ups, no sit ups, I did do a bit of reading. Week 6 Goal 1: A Goal 2: A Goal 3: D Life Quest: C
  23. August 26 I did not make the calories by any means. Not a bit. I did do my elliptical and cycle routine. I also read before bed. August 27 I did alright on calories. I read before bed, but no push ups or sit ups. August 28 I did good on calories, and I read before bed. I also did sit ups and push ups. I felt the burn. August 29 Calories were good, push ups were good, sit ups were good, reading was good too. August 30 I did the elliptical and cycle routine. I had to cut the elliptical bit short though. My knee didn't feel right so I didn't want to push it too hard. August 31 I was careful with my food and I think I came in just under on calories. September 1 I did fine on calories. Week 5 Goal 1: A Goal 2: A Goal 3: B Life Quest: A
  24. I'm really seeming to have trouble with the sit ups and push ups I am supposed to be doing. By the end of the day I just feel tired and want to veg out. It probably doesn't help that I am not sleeping very well.
  25. August 19 I did fine on calories, and I did my workout routine. The elliptical almost kicked my butt again. I also read before bed. I was super tired, but I did read one chapter. August 20 I managed to stay under my calorie limit by taking part of my dinner home from a resturaunt. That is lunch for Wednesday. I didn't read, and I didn't do any push ups or sit ups. I was out much later than I had planned to be and I just needed sleep. August 21 I went over on calories. The breadsticks at Olive Garden did me in, but what can I say? It was my mom's birthday. No special sit ups or push ups in the evening. I did have to do 30 sit ups as part of Krav Maga though. We were doing ground work and I got thrown off. I am really sore. Even though I was dead tired I read one chapter before bed. August 22 I did good on calories this time. I also did my sit ups and my push ups. I even read 2 chapters, as was still asleep by 9:30pm. I'm not sleeping well so I am trying to get more sleep to compensate for it, I'm not sure it is working. I had Krav Maga sparring and I ended up doing most of my sit ups there. Once I was home and done with the push ups I tried to squeeze out some sit ups. My abs are beat! My arms are also sore from the 16 oz gloves we spar with. Hopefully I can do some recovering over the weekend. August 23 I did my elliptical and cycle routine. I had to take it easy because my stomach wasn't feeling well and I didn't want to trigger a big mess. I did well on calories, and I even read before bed on a Friday night! August 24 Calories were a little tricky. I might have gone over, but not by too much. No reading, no push ups, no sit ups. August 25 Calories were good. That is all. Week 4 Goal 1: B Goal 2: A Goal 3: D Life Quest: A
